Jeremiah 8

1 At that time, saith the Lord, they shall cast out the bones of the kings of Juda, and the bones of the princes thereof, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves.	1 In quel tempo, oracolo del Signore, si estrarranno dai loro sepolcri le ossa di tutti i re di Giuda e le ossa dei suoi prìncipi, le ossa dei sacerdoti e le ossa dei profeti e le ossa degli abitanti di Gerusalemme,
2 And they shall spread them abroad to the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and adored: they shall not be gathered, and they shall not be buried: they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth.	2 e saranno esposte al sole e alla luna e a tutto l'esercito celeste che hanno prediletto e che hanno servito, ai quali sono andati dietro e che hanno consultato e ai quali si sono prostrati; non saranno raccolte né saranno seppellite, ma saranno come letame sulla superficie della terra.
3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all that shall remain of this wicked kindred in all places, which are left, to which I have cast them out, saith the Lord of hosts.	3 Allora sarà preferibile la morte alla vita per tutto il resto che sopravvivrà di questa malvagia famiglia in ogni luogo dove li avrò dispersi, oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.
4 And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: Shall not he that falleth, rise again? and he that is turned away, shall he not turn again?	4 Dunque dirai loro: "Così dice il Signore: Chi cade, forse che non si rialza? O chi si svia, forse non ritorna?
5 Why then is this people in Jerusalem turned away with a stubborn revolting? they have laid hold on lying, and have refused to return.	5 Perché s'è sviato questo popolo, Gerusalemme, con una ribellione perpetua? Sono attaccati all'inganno, rifiutano di ritrarsi indietro.
6 I attended, and hearkened; no man speaketh what is good, there is none that doth penance for his sin, saying: What have I done? They are all turned to their own course, as a horse rushing to the battle.	6 Ho prestato attenzione e ho ascoltato: non parlano rettamente; nessuno si pente della sua malvagità, dicendo: "Cosa abbiamo fatto?". Ognuno torna alla propria corsa, qual cavallo lanciato alla battaglia!
7 The kite in the air hath known her time: the turtle, and the swallow, and the stork have observed the time of their coming: but my people have not known the judgment of the Lord.	7 Perfino la cicogna nel cielo conosce i tempi suoi, e la colomba, la rondine e la gru osservano il tempo del loro ritorno; ma il popolo mio non conosce il giudizio del Signore!
8 How do you say: We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? Indeed the lying pen of the scribes hath wrought falsehood.	8 Come potete dire: "Noi siamo saggi e la legge del Signore è con noi"? Certo, ecco: a menzogna l'ha ridotta la penna menzognera degli scribi.
9 The wise men are confounded, they are dismayed, and taken: for they have cast away the word of the Lord, and there is no wisdom in them.	9 Saranno svergognati i saggi, sconcertati e intrappolati. Ecco: la parola del Signore han rigettato: che cosa è, dunque, sapienza per loro?
10 Therefore I will give their women to strangers, their fields to others for an inheritance: because from the least even to the greatest all follow covetousness: from the prophet even to the priest, all deal deceitfully.	10 Per questo consegnerò le loro donne a stranieri, i loro campi ai conquistatori, perché dal piccolo al grande tutti essi compiono frode; dal profeta al sacerdote, tutti essi praticano la menzogna.
11 And they healed the breach of the daughter of my people disgracefully, saying Peace, peace: when there was no peace.	11 Essi curano la ferita del mio popolo alla leggera. Dicono: "Salute, salute", ma salute non c'è.
12 They are confounded, because they have committed abomination: yea rather they are not confounded with confusion, and they have not know how to blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the time of their visitation they shall fall, saith the Lord.	12 Arrossiscano, perché compiono abominazioni! Di nessuna onta arrossiscono più né sanno più vergognarsi! Per questo cadranno tra coloro che cadono, saranno prostrati quando io li visiterò. Oracolo del Signore.
13 Gathering I will gather them together, saith the Lord, there is no grape on the vines, and there are no figs on the fig tree, the leaf is fallen: and I have given them the things that are passed away.	13 Vorrei raccogliere il loro raccolto, oracolo del Signore, ma non c'è uva nella vigna e non ci sono fichi sulla ficaia; anche il fogliame è avvizzito! Ho procurato loro, quindi, chi li calpesti!".
14 Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced city, and let us be silent there: for the Lord our God hath put us to silence, and hath given us water of gall to drink: for we have sinned against the Lord.	14 "Perché ce ne stiamo seduti? Radunatevi ed entriamo nelle città fortificate e ivi saremo distrutti: tanto il Signore, Dio nostro, ci vuole distruggere e farci bere acque avvelenate perché abbiamo peccato contro il Signore!
15 We looked for peace and no good came: for a time of healing, and behold fear.	15 Aspettavamo la salvezza, ma senza profitto; il tempo della guarigione ed ecco il terrore".
16 The snorting of his horse was heard from Dan, all the land was moved at the sound of the neighing of his warriors: and they came and devoured the land, and all that was in it: the city and its inhabitants.	16 Da Dan si ode lo sbuffare dei suoi cavalli; per lo strepito dei nitriti dei suoi stalloni trema tutto il paese; arrivano e divorano il paese e quanto contiene, la città e i suoi abitanti.
17 For behold I will send among you serpents, basilisks, against which there is no charm: and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.	17 "Sì, eccomi a mandare contro di voi serpenti velenosi contro i quali non avete incantesimo, cosicché vi morderanno". Oracolo del Signore.
18 My sorrow is above sorrow, my heart mourneth within me.	18 Senza rimedio cresce il dolore, dentro di me il mio cuore languisce.
19 Behold the voice of the daughter my people from a far country: Is not the Lord in Sion, or is not her king in her? why then have they provoked me to wrath with their idols, and strange vanities?	19 Ecco un clamore: è il grido della figlia del mio popolo da terra di vasta estensione! "Forse che il Signore non sta in Sion, ovvero il suo re non è in essa?". Perché mi hanno irritato con i loro idoli con nullità straniere?
20 The harvest is passed, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.	20 E' passata la mietitura, terminata l'estate, e noi non siamo stati salvati.
21 For the affliction of the daughter of my people I am afflicted, and made sorrowful, astonishment hath taken hold on me.	21 Per la ferita della figlia del mio popolo sono ferito, sono costernato, lo spavento mi afferra.
22 Is there no balm in Galaad? or is no physician there? Why then is not the wound of the daughter of my people closed?	22 Non c'è più balsamo in Gàlaad? non c'è più ivi alcun medico? Perché, allora, non migliora la ferita della figlia del mio popolo?
	23 Chi renderà la mia testa una fonte e i miei occhi una sorgente di lacrime, perché io pianga giorno e notte gli uccisi della figlia del popolo mio?
