Jeremiah 8

DOUAI-RHEIMS	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 At that time, saith the Lord, they shall cast out the bones of the kings of Juda, and the bones of the princes thereof, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves.	1 En aquel tiempo –oráculo del Señor– sacarán de sus tumbas los huesos de los reyes de Judá, los huesos de sus príncipes, los huesos de los sacerdotes, los huesos de los profetas y los huesos de los habitantes de Jerusalén.
2 And they shall spread them abroad to the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and adored: they shall not be gathered, and they shall not be buried: they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth.	2 Los expondrán ante el sol y la luna, y ante todo el Ejército de los cielos, a los que ellos amaron y sirvieron, a los que ellos amaron y sirvieron, a los que ellos siguieron y consultaron, y ante los cuales se postraron, Y no serán recogidos ni enterrados, sino que se convertirán en estiércol sobre la superficie del suelo.
3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all that shall remain of this wicked kindred in all places, which are left, to which I have cast them out, saith the Lord of hosts.	3 La muerte será preferible a la vida para todos los sobrevivientes que hayan quedado de esa familia perversa, en todos los lugares adonde yo los expulsaré –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos–.
4 And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: Shall not he that falleth, rise again? and he that is turned away, shall he not turn again?	4 Tú les dirás: Así habla el Señor: ¿No se levanta el que cae? ¿Y no vuelve el que se desvía?
5 Why then is this people in Jerusalem turned away with a stubborn revolting? they have laid hold on lying, and have refused to return.	5 ¿Por qué entonces ha defeccionado este pueblo y Jerusalén es una apostasía sin fin? Ellos se aferran a sus ilusiones, se niegan a volver.
6 I attended, and hearkened; no man speaketh what is good, there is none that doth penance for his sin, saying: What have I done? They are all turned to their own course, as a horse rushing to the battle.	6 Yo escuché con la mayor atención: ellos no hablan como es debido, ni uno solo se arrepiente de su maldad, diciendo: «¿Qué es lo que hice?». Todos vuelven a sus andanzas, como un caballo que se lanza al combate.
7 The kite in the air hath known her time: the turtle, and the swallow, and the stork have observed the time of their coming: but my people have not known the judgment of the Lord.	7 Hasta la cigüeña, en el cielo, conoce sus estaciones; la tórtola, la golondrina y la grulla tienen en cuenta el tiempo de sus migraciones ¡Pero mi pueblo no conoce el derecho del Señor!
8 How do you say: We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us? Indeed the lying pen of the scribes hath wrought falsehood.	8 ¿Cómo ustedes se atreven a decir: «Somos sabios y la Ley del Señor está con nosotros», siendo así que la ha falsificado la pluma engañosa de los escribas?
9 The wise men are confounded, they are dismayed, and taken: for they have cast away the word of the Lord, and there is no wisdom in them.	9 Los sabios se cubrirán de vergüenza, quedarán espantados, atrapados. Ellos han despreciado la palabra del Señor: ¿qué sabiduría es entonces la de ellos?
10 Therefore I will give their women to strangers, their fields to others for an inheritance: because from the least even to the greatest all follow covetousness: from the prophet even to the priest, all deal deceitfully.	10 Por eso, yo entregaré sus mujeres a otros, y sus campos a usurpadores. Porque del más pequeño al más grande, todos están ávidos de ganancias y desde el profeta hasta el sacerdote, no hacen otra cosa que engañar.
11 And they healed the breach of the daughter of my people disgracefully, saying Peace, peace: when there was no peace.	11 Ellos curan a la ligera el quebranto de la hija de mi pueblo, diciendo: «¡Paz, paz!», pero no hay paz.
12 They are confounded, because they have committed abomination: yea rather they are not confounded with confusion, and they have not know how to blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the time of their visitation they shall fall, saith the Lord.	12 ¿Se avergüenzan de la abominación que cometieron? ¡No, no sienten la menor vergüenza, no saben los que es sonrojarse! Por eso, ellos caerán con los que caen, sucumbirán cuando tengan que dar cuenta, dice el Señor.
13 Gathering I will gather them together, saith the Lord, there is no grape on the vines, and there are no figs on the fig tree, the leaf is fallen: and I have given them the things that are passed away.	13 Cuando quiero cosechar entre ellos –oráculo del Señor– no hay uvas en la viña, no hay higos en la higuera, y el follaje está marchito.
14 Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced city, and let us be silent there: for the Lord our God hath put us to silence, and hath given us water of gall to drink: for we have sinned against the Lord.	14 ¿Por qué nos quedamos quietos? Reúnanse y entremos en las plazas fuertes para perecer allí, porque el Señor, nuestro Dios, nos hace perecer y nos da de beber agua envenenada, porque hemos pecado contra el Señor.
15 We looked for peace and no good came: for a time of healing, and behold fear.	15 Se esperaba la paz ¡y no hay nada bueno...! el tiempo de la curación, ¡y sobrevino el espanto!
16 The snorting of his horse was heard from Dan, all the land was moved at the sound of the neighing of his warriors: and they came and devoured the land, and all that was in it: the city and its inhabitants.	16 Desde Dan se escucha el resuello de sus caballos; por el ruido de los relinchos de sus corceles tiembla toda la tierra. Ellos llegan y devoran el país y todo lo que hay en él, la ciudad y a los que habitan en ella.
17 For behold I will send among you serpents, basilisks, against which there is no charm: and they shall bite you, saith the Lord.	17 Porque yo envío contra ustedes serpientes venenosas, contra las que no hay encantamientos: ellas los morderán –oráculo del Señor –
18 My sorrow is above sorrow, my heart mourneth within me.	18 y no habrá remedio. Me invade la aflicción, mi corazón está dolorido.
19 Behold the voice of the daughter my people from a far country: Is not the Lord in Sion, or is not her king in her? why then have they provoked me to wrath with their idols, and strange vanities?	19 El grito de alarma de la hija de mi pueblo se eleva a lo largo de todo el país: «¿No está el Señor en Sión, no está en ella su Rey?». ¿Por qué me han indignado con sus ídolos, con las Vanidades del extranjero?
20 The harvest is passed, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.	20 «Pasó la cosecha, terminó el verano, ¡y nosotros no hemos sido salvados! :.
21 For the affliction of the daughter of my people I am afflicted, and made sorrowful, astonishment hath taken hold on me.	21 Estoy abrumado por el desastre de la hija de mi pueblo, estoy ensombrecido, la consternación se apoderó de mí.
22 Is there no balm in Galaad? or is no physician there? Why then is not the wound of the daughter of my people closed?	22 ¿No hay más bálsamo en Galaad? ¿No hay allí ningún médico? ¿Por qué entonces no cicatriza la llaga de la hija de mi pueblo?
	23 ¡Ojalá mi cabeza se convirtiera en llanto y mis ojos en fuente de lágrimas, para llorar de día y de noche por las víctimas de la hija de mi pueblo!
