1 So the king and Aman went in, to drink with the queen.	1 Le roi et Aman entrèrent donc pour boire avec la reine.
2 And the king said to her again the second day, after he was warm with wine: What is thy petition, Esther, that it may be granted thee? and what wilt thou have done: although thou ask the half of my kingdom, thou shalt have it.	2 Et le roi lui dit encore ce second jour, dans la chaleur du vin : Que me demandez-vous, Esther, et que voulez-vous que je fasse ? Quand vous me demanderiez la moitié de mon royaume, je vous la donnerais.
3 Then she answered: If I have found Favour in thy sight, O king, and if it please thee, give me my life for which I ask, and my people for which I request.	3 Esther lui répondit : Si j'ai trouvé grâce à vos yeux, ô roi, accordez-moi, s'il vous plaît, ma propre vie, pour laquelle je vous supplie, et celle de mon peuple, pour lequel j'intercède.
4 For we are given up, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. And would God we were sold for bondmen and bondwomen: the evil might be borne with, and I would have mourned in silence: but now we have an enemy, whose cruelty redoundeth upon the king.	4 Car nous avons été livrés, moi et mon peuple, pour être foulés aux pieds, pour être égorgés et exterminés. Et plût à Dieu qu'on nous vendît comme esclaves et servantes ! ce serait un mal supportable, et je me tairais en gémissant ; mais maintenant nous avons un ennemi dont la cruauté retombe sur le roi (même).
5 And king Assuerus answered and said: Who is this, and of what power, that he should do these things?	5 Et le roi Assuérus lui répondit : Qui est celui-là, et quelle est sa puissance pour qu'il ose faire cela ?
6 And Esther said: It is this Aman that is our adversary and most wicked enemy. Aman hearing this was forthwith astonished, not being able to bear the countenance of the king and of the queen.	6 Et Esther dit : Notre adversaire et notre ennemi, c'est ce cruel (méchant) Aman. En entendant cela Aman fut tout interdit, ne pouvant supporter les regards du roi et de la reine.
7 But the king being angry rose up, and went from the place of the banquet into the garden set with trees. Aman also rose up to entreat Esther the queen for his life, for he understood that evil was prepared for him by the king.	7 Mais le roi se leva irrité, et il alla du lieu du festin dans le jardin planté d'arbres. Aman se leva aussi pour supplier la reine Esther de lui sauver la vie ; car il avait compris que le roi était résolu de le perdre.
8 And when the king came back out of the garden set with trees, and entered into the place of the banquet, he found Aman was fallen upon the bed on which Esther lay, and he said: He will force the queen also in my presence, in my own house. The word was not yet gone out of the king's mouth, and immediately they covered his face.	8 Lorsqu'Assuérus revint du jardin planté d'arbres, et rentra dans le lieu du festin, il trouva qu'Aman s'était jeté sur le lit où était Esther, et il dit : Comment ! il veut faire violence à la reine elle-même, en ma présence, dans ma maison ! (?) A peine cette parole était-elle sortie de la bouche du roi, qu'on couvrit aussitôt le visage d'Aman.
9 And Harbona, one of the eunuchs that stood waiting on the king, said: Behold the gibbet which he hath prepared for Mardochai, who spoke for the king, standeth in Aman's house, being fifty cubits high. And the king said to him: Hang him upon it.	9 Et Harbona, l'un des eunuques qui étaient au service du roi, lui dit : Voici, le bois qu'il avait préparé pour Mardochée, qui a donné un avis salutaire au roi, est dans la maison d'Aman, haut de cinquante coudées. Le roi lui dit : Qu'il y soit pendu.
10 So Aman was hanged on the gibbet, which he had prepared for Mardochai: and the king's wrath ceased.	10 Aman fut donc pendu à la potence qu'il avait préparée pour Mardochée. Et la colère du roi s'apaisa.
