Geremia 46

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 LA parola del Signore che fu indirizzata al profeta Geremia, contro alle nazioni.	1 The words of Yahweh that were addressed to the prophet Jeremiah against the nations.
2 Quant’è all’Egitto, contro all’esercito di Faraone Neco, re di Egitto, ch’era sopra il fiume Eufrate, in Carchemis, il quale Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, sconfisse, l’anno quarto di Gioiachim, figliuolo di Giosia, re di Giuda.	2 On Egypt. Against the army of Pharaoh Necho king of Egypt, which was at Carchemish on the RiverEuphrates when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon defeated it in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, kingof Judah.
3 Apparecchiate lo scudo e la targa, e venite alla battaglia.	3 Buckler and shield at the ready! Onward to battle!
4 Giugnete i cavalli a’ carri; e voi, cavalieri, montate a cavallo, e presentatevi con gli elmi; forbite le lance, mettetevi indosso le corazze.	4 Harness the horses: into the saddle, horsemen! To your ranks! On with your helmets! Sharpen yourspears, put on your breastplates!
5 Perchè veggo io costoro spaventati, e messi in volta? i loro uomini prodi sono stati rotti, e si son messi in fuga, senza rivolgersi indietro; spavento è d’ogn’intorno, dice il Signore.	5 Why do I see them retreating, panic-stricken? Their heroes, beaten back, are fleeing headlong, with nota look behind. Terror on every side, Yahweh declares!
6 Il leggier non fugga, e il prode non iscampi; verso il Settentrione, presso alla ripa del fiume Eufrate, son traboccati e caduti.	6 No flight for the swift, no escape for the strong! Up in the north on the River Euphrates, they havecol apsed, have fal en.
7 Chi è costui che si alza a guisa di rivo, e le cui acque si commuovono come i fiumi?	7 Who was it rose like the Nile, his waters foaming like a torrent?
8 Questo è l’Egitto, che si è alzato a guisa di rivo, e le cui acque si son commosse come i fiumi; e ha detto: Io salirò, io coprirò la terra, io distruggerò le città, e quelli che abitano in esse.	8 Why, Egypt rose like the Nile, his waters foaming like a torrent. 'I shal rise', he said, 'and drown theearth; sweep away town and its inhabitants!
9 Salite, cavalli, e smaniate, carri; ed escano fuori gli uomini di valore; que’ di Cus, e que’ di Put, che portano scudi; e que’ di Lud, che trattano, e tendono archi.	9 Charge, horses! Forward, chariots! Let the warriors advance, men from Cush and Put with shield inhand, men from Lud who bend the bow!'
10 E questo giorno è al Signore Iddio degli eserciti un giorno di vendetta, da vendicarsi de’ suoi nemici; e la spada divorerà, e sarà saziata, e inebbriata del sangue loro; perciocchè il Signore Iddio degli eserciti fa un sacrificio nel paese di Settentrione, presso al fiume Eufrate.	10 For this is the Day of Lord Yahweh Sabaoth, a day of vengeance when he takes revenge on his foes:the sword wil devour until gorged, until drunk with their blood, for Lord Yahweh Sabaoth is holding a sacrificialfeast in the land of the north, on the River Euphrates.
11 Sali in Galaad, e prendine del balsamo, o vergine, figliuola di Egitto; indarno hai usati medicamenti assai, non vi è guarigione alcuna per te	11 Go up to Gilead and fetch balm, virgin daughter of Egypt! You multiply remedies in vain, nothing cancure you!
12 Le genti hanno udita la tua ignominia, e il tuo grido ha riempiuta la terra; perciocchè il prode è traboccato sopra il prode; amendue son caduti insieme.	12 The nations have heard of your shame, your wailing fil s the world, for warrior has stumbled againstwarrior, and both have fal en together.
13 La parola che il Signore pronunziò al profeta Geremia, intorno alla venuta di Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, per percuotere il paese di Egitto.	13 The word that came from Yahweh to the prophet Jeremiah when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonadvanced to attack Egypt.
14 Annunziate in Egitto, e bandite in Migdol, e pubblicate in Nof, e in Tafnes; dite: Presentati alla battaglia, e preparati; perciocchè la spada ha già divorati i tuoi luoghi circonvicini.	14 Publish it in Egypt, proclaim it in Migdol, proclaim it in Noph and Tahpanhes! Say, 'Stand your ground,be prepared, for the sword is devouring al round you!'
15 Perchè sono stati atterrati i tuoi possenti? non son potuti star saldi, perciocchè il Signore li ha sospinti.	15 Why has Apis fled? Why has your Mighty One not stood firm? Why, Yahweh has overturned him,
16 Egli ne ha traboccati molti, ed anche l’uno è caduto sopra l’altro; ed han detto: Or su, ritorniamo al nostro popolo, e al nostro natio paese, d’innanzi alla spada di quel disertatore.	16 he has caused many to fal ! Fal ing over one another, they say, 'Up, and back to our own people, tothe country where we were born, away from the devastating sword!'
17 Hanno quivi gridato: Faraone, re di Egitto, è ruinato; egli ha lasciata passar la stagione.	17 They have given Pharaoh king of Egypt the nickname, 'Much-noise-but-he-lets-the-chance-slip-by'!
18 Come io vivo, dice il Re, il cui nome è: Il Signor degli eserciti, colui verrà, a guisa che Tabor è fra i monti, e Carmel in sul mare.	18 As I live, the King declares, whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth, he is coming, a very Tabor amongmountains, a Carmel high above the sea!
19 Fatti degli arnesi da cattività, o figliuola abitatrice di Egitto; perciocchè Nof sarà messa in desolazione, e sarà arsa, e non vi abiterà più alcuno.	19 Get your bundle ready for exile, fair inhabitant of Egypt! Noph will be reduced to a desert, desolate,uninhabited.
20 Egitto è una bellissima giovenca; ma dal Settentrione viene, viene lo scannamento.	20 Egypt was a splendid heifer, but a gadfly from the north has settled on her.
21 E benchè la gente che egli avea a suo soldo, fosse dentro di esso come vitelli di stia, pur si son messi in volta anch’essi, son fuggiti tutti quanti, non si sono fermati; perciocchè il giorno della lor calamità è sopraggiunto loro, il tempo della lor visitazione.	21 The mercenaries she had with her, these too were like fattened calves: but they too have taken totheir heels, have al run away, not held their ground, for their day of disaster has overtaken them, their time forbeing punished.
22 La voce di esso uscirà, a guisa di quella della serpe; perciocchè coloro, cammineranno con poderoso esercito, e verranno contro a lui con iscuri, come tagliatori di legne.	22 Hear her hissing like a snake as they advance in force to fal on her with their axes, like woodcutters,
23 Taglieranno il suo bosco, dice il Signore, il cui conto non poteva rinvenirsi; perciocchè essi saranno in maggior numero che locuste, anzi saranno, innumerabili.	23 they wil fell her forest, Yahweh declares, however impenetrable it was for they are more numerousthan locusts, there is no counting them.
24 La figliuola di Egitto è svergognata, è data in man del popolo di Settentrione. Il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio, d’Israele, ha detto;	24 The daughter of Egypt is put to shame, handed over to a people from the north.
25 Ecco, io fo punizione della moltitudine di No, e di Faraone, e dell’Egitto, e de’ suoi dii, e de’ suoi re; di Faraone, e di quelli che si confidano in lui.	25 Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, has said, 'Look, I shal punish Amon of No, Pharaoh, Egypt, its gods,its kings, Pharaoh and those who put their trust in him.
26 E li darò in man di quelli che cercano l’anima loro, ed in man di Nebucadnesar re di Babilonia, ed in man de’ suoi servitori; ma dopo questo, l’Egitto sarà abitato, come ai dì di prima, dice il Signore.	26 I shal hand him over to those who are determined to kil him, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, tohis generals. But afterwards, Egypt wil be inhabited again as in the past, Yahweh declares.
27 E tu, o Giacobbe, mio servitore, non temere; e tu, o Israele, non ispaventarti; perciocchè ecco, io ti salverò di lontan paese, e la tua progenie dal paese della sua cattività; e Giacobbe se ne ritornerà, e sarà in riposo, e in tranquillità, e non vi sarà alcuno che lo spaventi.	27 But do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, Israel, do not be alarmed: for look, I shal rescue you fromafar and your descendants from the country where they are captive. Jacob wil return and be at peace, secure,with no one to trouble him.
28 Tu, Giacobbe, mio servitore, non temere, dice il Signore; perciocchè io son teco; perciocchè ben farò una finale esecuzione sopra le genti, dove ti avrò scacciato; ma sopra te non farò una finale esecuzione; anzi ti castigherò moderatamente; ma pur non ti lascerò del tutto impunito	28 Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, Yahweh declares, for I am with you: I shal make an end of al thenations where I have driven you, but I shal not make an end of you, I shal discipline you only as you deserve,not leaving you quite unpunished.
