DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 OR avvenne nel settimo mese, che Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, figliuolo di Elisama, del sangue reale, ed alcuni grandi della corte del re, e dieci uomini con lui, vennero a Ghedalia, figliuolo di Ahicam, in Mispa; e quivi in Mispa mangiarono insieme.	1 In the seventh month, however, Ishmael son of Nethaniah son of Elishama, who was of royal descent,came with officers of the king and ten men to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah. And as they were taking theirmeal together, there at Mizpah,
2 Poi Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, si levò, insieme co’ dieci uomini ch’erano con lui, e percossero colla spada Ghedalia, figliuolo di Ahicam, figliuolo di Safan. Così lo fece morire; lui, che il re di Babilonia aveva costituito sopra il paese.	2 Ishmael son of Nethaniah stood up with his ten men, and attacking Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son ofShaphan, with their swords, they kil ed the man whom the king of Babylon had made governor of the country.
3 Ismaele uccise ancora gli uomini di guerra, d’infra tutti i Giudei, ch’erano con Ghedalia in Mispa, e i Caldei che si ritrovarono quivi.	3 And al the Judaeans who were with him, that is with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Chaldaean soldierswho happened to be there, Ishmael killed too.
4 E il giorno appresso ch’egli ebbe ucciso Ghedalia, avanti che se ne sapesse nulla,	4 On the day after the murder of Gedaliah, before the news had become known,
5 avvenne, che alcuni uomini di Sichem, di Silo, e di Samaria, in numero di ottanta uomini, venivano, avendo le barbe rase, ed i vestimenti stracciati, e delle tagliature sul corpo; ed aveano in mano offerte, ed incenso, da presentar nella Casa del Signore.	5 eighty men arrived from Shechem, Shiloh and Samaria, with their beards shaved off, their clothing torn,and covered in self-inflicted gashes; they were bringing cereal offerings and incense with them to present to theTemple of Yahweh.
6 Ed Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, uscì di Mispa incontro a loro, e camminava piangendo; e quando li ebbe scontrati, disse loro: Venite a Ghedalia, figliuolo di Ahicam.	6 Ishmael son of Nethaniah went out of Mizpah to meet them, weeping as he went. When he met themhe said, 'Come to Gedaliah son of Ahikam.'
7 Ma quando furono entrati in mezzo della città, Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, accompagnato dagli uomini, ch’egli aveva seco, li scannò, e li gettò in mezzo della fossa.	7 But once they were wel inside the town, Ishmael son of Nethaniah slaughtered them, with the help ofhis men, and had them thrown into the storage-wel .
8 Or fra quelli si trovarono dieci uomini, che dissero ad Ismaele: Non ucciderci; perciocchè noi abbiamo in sulla campagna delle segrete conserve di grano, e d’orzo, e d’olio, e di miele. Ed egli si ritenne, e non li uccise fra i lor fratelli.	8 There were ten of them, however, who said to Ishmael, 'Do not kil us: we have stocks of wheat andbarley, oil and honey, hidden away in the fields.' So he spared them and did not kil them with their brothers.
9 Or la fossa, nella quale Ismaele gettò tutti i corpi morti degli uomini, ch’egli uccise del seguito di Ghedalia, era quella che il re Asa aveva fatta per tema di Baasa, re d’Israele; Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, la riempiè di uccisi.	9 The storage-wel into which Ishmael threw the corpses of all the men he had kil ed was a large one, theone which King Asa had built as a precaution against Baasha king of Israel. Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled itwith the slaughtered men.
10 Poi appresso Ismaele ne menò via prigione tutto il rimanente del popolo, ch’era in Mispa: le figliuole del re, e tutto il popolo restato in Mispa, il quale Nebuzaradan, capitan delle guardie, aveva dato in governo a Ghedalia, figliuolo di Ahicam; Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, li menava via prigioni, e se ne andava per passare a’ figliuoli di Ammon	10 Ishmael then took al the rest of the people prisoner who were at Mizpah, the king's daughters and althe remaining people in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan, commander of the guard, had entrusted to Gedaliah sonof Ahikam. Ishmael son of Nethaniah took them prisoner and set out, intending to cross over to the Ammonites.
11 Ma Giohanan, figliuolo di Carea, e tutti i capi della gente di guerra, ch’erano con lui, avendo udito tutto il male, che Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, aveva fatto,	11 When Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders who were with him heard about al thecrimes committed by Ishmael son of Nethaniah,
12 presero tutta la lor gente, e andarono per combattere contro ad Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania; e lo trovarono presso alle grandi acque, che sono in Gabaon.	12 they mustered all their men and set out to attack Ishmael son of Nethaniah. They caught up with himat the great Pool of Gibeon.
13 E quando tutto il popolo che era con Ismaele vide Giohanan, figliuolo di Carea, e tutti i capi della gente di guerra, che erano con lui, si rallegrò.	13 At the sight of Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders with him, al the people with Ishmaelwere delighted.
14 E tutto il popolo, che Ismaele menava prigione da Mispa, si rivoltò, e se ne ritornò a Giohanan, figliuolo di Carea.	14 Al the people whom Ishmael had taken as prisoners from Mizpah turned about, went back and joinedJohanan son of Kareah.
15 Ma Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, scampò con otto uomini, d’innanzi a Giohanan, e se ne andò a’ figliuoli di Ammon.	15 Ishmael son of Nethaniah, however, escaped from Johanan with eight of his men and fled to theAmmonites.
16 Poi Giohanan, figliuolo di Carea, e tutti i capitani della gente di guerra, ch’erano con lui, presero tutto il rimanente del popolo, che avevano riscosso da Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, e il quale egli ne menava via da Mispa, dopo aver percosso Ghedalia, figliuolo di Ahicam: uomini, gente di guerra, e donne, e fanciulli, ed eunuchi; e li ricondussero da Gabaon.	16 Johanan son of Kareah and al the military leaders with him then ral ied al the remaining peoplewhom Ishmael son of Nethaniah had taken as prisoners from Mizpah after kil ing Gedaliah son of Ahikam: men --fighting men-women, children and eunuchs, whom they brought back from Gibeon.
17 Ed andarono, e dimorarono in Gherut-Chimham, che è vicin di Bet-lehem, con intenzione di andarsene, e di entrare in Egitto, d’innanzi a’ Caldei;	17 Setting off, they made a halt at Khan Kimham near Bethlehem, intending to go on to Egypt,
18 conciossiachè temessero di loro; perciocchè Ismaele, figliuolo di Netania, aveva percosso Ghedalia, figliuolo di Ahicam, il quale il re di Babilonia aveva costituito sopra il paese	18 to get away from the Chaldaeans. They were now terrified of them, since Ishmael son of Nethaniahhad kil ed Gedaliah son of Ahikam whom the king of Babylon had made governor of the country.
