BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Figlio mio, custodisci le mie parole e fa' tesoro dei miei precetti.	1 My son, keep my words, and treasure my commands.
2 Osserva i miei precetti e vivrai, il mio insegnamento sia come la pupilla dei tuoi occhi.	2 Keep my commands and live, my teaching as the apple of your eye;
3 Lègali alle tue dita, scrivili sulla tavola del tuo cuore.	3 Bind them on your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Di' alla sapienza: "Tu sei mia sorella", e chiama amica l'intelligenza,	4 Say to Wisdom, "You are my sister!" call Understanding, "Friend!"
5 perché ti preservi dalla donna forestiera, dalla straniera che ha parole di lusinga.	5 That they may keep you from another's wife, from the adulteress with her smooth words.
6 Mentre dalla finestra della mia casa stavo osservando dietro le grate,	6 For at the window of my house, through my lattice I looked out--
7 ecco vidi fra gli inesperti, scorsi fra i giovani un dissennato.	7 And I saw among the simple ones, I observed among the young men, a youth with no sense,
8 Passava per la piazza, accanto all'angolo della straniera, e s'incamminava verso la casa di lei,	8 Going along the street near the corner, then walking in the direction of her house--
9 all'imbrunire, al declinare del giorno, all'apparir della notte e del buio.	9 In the twilight, at dusk of day, at the time of the dark of night.
10 Ecco farglisi incontro una donna, in vesti di prostituta e la dissimulazione nel cuore.	10 And lo! the woman comes to meet him, robed like a harlot, with secret designs--
11 Essa è audace e insolente, non sa tenere i piedi in casa sua.	11 She is fickle and unruly, in her home her feet cannot rest;
12 Ora è per la strada, ora per le piazze, ad ogni angolo sta in agguato.	12 Now she is in the streets, now in the open squares, and at every corner she lurks in ambush--
13 Lo afferra, lo bacia e con sfacciataggine gli dice:	13 When she seizes him, she kisses him, and with an impudent look says to him:
14 "Dovevo offrire sacrifici di comunione; oggi ho sciolto i miei voti;	14 "I owed peace offerings, and today I have fulfilled my vows;
15 per questo sono uscita incontro a te per cercarti e ti ho trovato.	15 So I came out to meet you, to look for you, and I have found you!
16 Ho messo coperte soffici sul mio letto, tela fine d'Egitto;	16 With coverlets I have spread my couch, with brocaded cloths of Egyptian linen;
17 ho profumato il mio giaciglio di mirra, di aloè e di cinnamòmo.	17 I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, with aloes, and with cinnamon.
18 Vieni, inebriamoci d'amore fino al mattino, godiamoci insieme amorosi piaceri,	18 "Come, let us drink our fill of love, until morning, let us feast on love!
19 poiché mio marito non è in casa, è partito per un lungo viaggio,	19 For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a long journey;
20 ha portato con sé il sacchetto del denaro, tornerà a casa il giorno del plenilunio".	20 A bag of money he took with him, not till the full moon will he return home."
21 Lo lusinga con tante moine, lo seduce con labbra lascive;	21 She wins him over by her repeated urging, with her smooth lips she leads him astray;
22 egli incauto la segue, come un bue va al macello; come un cervo preso al laccio,	22 He follows her stupidly, like an ox that is led to slaughter; Like a stag that minces toward the net,
23 finché una freccia non gli lacera il fegato; come un uccello che si precipita nella rete e non sa che è in pericolo la sua vita.	23 till an arrow pierces its liver; Like a bird that rushes into a snare, unaware that its life is at stake.
24 Ora, figlio mio, ascoltami, fa' attenzione alle parole della mia bocca.	24 So now, O children, listen to me, be attentive to the words of my mouth!
25 Il tuo cuore non si volga verso le sue vie, non aggirarti per i suoi sentieri,	25 Let not your heart turn to her ways, go not astray in her paths;
26 perché molti ne ha fatti cadere trafitti ed erano vigorose tutte le sue vittime.	26 For many are those she has struck down dead, numerous, those she has slain.
27 La sua casa è la strada per gli inferi, che scende nelle camere della morte.	27 Her house is made up of ways to the nether world, leading down into the chambers of death.
