EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Talla dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras, y yo escribiré en ellas las mismas palabras que estaban escritas en las que tú rompiste.	1 And after this he said: Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the former, and I will write upon them the words which were in the tables, which thou brokest.
2 Prepárate, además, para subir mañana temprano a la montaña del Sinaí, y después quédate allí, a mi disposición, en la cumbre de la montaña.	2 Be ready in the morning, that thou mayst forthwith go up into mount Sinai, and thou shalt stand with me upon the top of the mount.
3 Que nadie suba contigo ni se haga ver en toda la extensión de la montaña, y que tampoco el ganado se detenga a pastar delante de ella.	3 Let no man go up with thee: and let not any man be seen throughout all the mount: neither let the oxen nor the sheep feed over against it.
4 Moisés talló dos tablas de piedra iguales a las primeras, y a la madrugada del día siguiente subió a la montaña del Sinaí, como el Señor se lo había ordenado, llevando las dos tablas en sus manos.	4 Then he cut out two tables of stone, such as had been before: and rising very early he went up into the mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, carrying with him the tables.
5 El Señor descendió en la nube, y permaneció allí, junto a él. Moisés invocó el nombre del Señor.	5 And when the Lord was come down in a cloud, Moses stood with him, calling upon the name of the Lord.
6 El Señor pasó delante de él y exclamó: «El Señor es un Dios compasivo y bondadoso, lento para enojarse, y pródigo en amor y fidelidad.	6 And when he passed before him, he said: O the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, patient and of much compassion, and true,
7 El mantiene su amor a lo largo de mil generaciones y perdona la culpa, la rebeldía y el pecado; sin embargo, no los deja impunes, sino que castiga la culpa de los padres en los hijos y en los nietos, hasta la tercera y cuarta generación.	7 Who keepest mercy unto thousands: who takest away iniquity, and wickedness, and sin, and no man of himself is innocent before thee. Who renderest the iniquity of the fathers to the children, and to the grandchildren, unto the third and fourth generation.
8 Moisés cayó de rodillas y se postró,	8 And Moses making haste, bowed down prostrate unto the earth, and adoring,
9 diciendo: «Si realmente me has brindado tu amistad, dígnate, Señor, ir en medio de nosotros. Es verdad que este es un pueblo obstinado, pero perdona nuestra culpa y nuestro pecado, y conviértenos en tu herencia».	9 Said: If I have found grace in thy sight: O Lord, I beseech thee, that thou wilt go with us, (for it is a stiffnecked people,) and take away our iniquities and sin, and possess us.
10 El Señor le respondió: Yo voy a establecer una alianza. A la vista de todo el pueblo, realizaré maravillas como nunca se han hecho en ningún país ni en ninguna nación. El pueblo que está contigo verá la obra del Señor, porque yo haré cosas tremendas por medio de ti.	10 The Lord answered: I will make a covenant in the sight of all. I will do signs such as were never seen upon the earth, nor in any nation: that this people, in the midst of whom thou art, may see the terrible work of the Lord which I will do.
11 Observa bien lo que te mando. Yo expulsaré de tu presencia a los amorreos, los cananeos, los hititas, los perizitas, los jivitas y los jebuseos.	11 Observe all things which this day I command thee: I myself will drive out before thy face the Amorrhite, and the Chanaanite, and the Hethite, and the Pherezite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite.
12 No hagas ningún pacto con los habitantes del país donde vas a entrar, porque ellos serían una trampa para ti.	12 Beware thou never join in friendship with the inhabitants of that land, which may be thy ruin:
13 Antes bien, derriben sus altares, destruyan sus piedras conmemorativas y talen sus postes sagrados.	13 But destroy their altars, break their statues, and cut down their groves:
14 No te postrarás delante de ningún otro dios, porque el Señor se llama «Celoso»: él es un Dios celoso.	14 Adore not any strange god. The Lord his name is Jealous, he is a jealous God.
15 No hagas ningún pacto con los habitantes de aquel país, no sea que cuando ellos se prostituyan con sus dioses y les ofrezcan sacrificios, te inviten también a ti y tengas que comer de las víctimas sacrificadas.	15 Make no covenant with the men of those countries lest, when they have committed fornication with their gods, and have adored their idols, some one call thee to eat of the things sacrificed.
16 Tampoco tomes a sus hijas como esposas de tus hijos, porque cuando ellas se prostituyan con sus dioses, harán que también ellos se prostituyan.	16 Neither shalt thou take of their daughters a wife for thy son, lest after they themselves have committed fornication, they make thy sons also to commit fornication with their gods.
17 No te fabricarás dioses de metal fundido.	17 Thou shalt not make to thyself any molten gods.
18 Observarás la fiesta de los Acimos. Durante siete días comerás panes ácimos, como yo te lo he mandado; y lo harás en el tiempo señalado del mes de Abib, porque en ese mes saliste de Egipto.	18 Thou shalt keep the feast of the unleavened bread. Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee in the time of the month of the new corn: for in the month of the springtime thou camest out from Egypt.
19 Todos los primogénitos me pertenecen. Los primogénitos de tu ganado mayor y menor, si son machos, serán para mí.	19 All of the male kind, that openeth the womb, shall be mine. Of all beasts, both of oxen and of sheep, it shall be mine.
20 Al primogénito del asno, en cambio, lo rescatarás con un cordero, y si no lo rescatas, deberás desnucarlo. También rescatarás a todos los primogénitos entre tus hijos. Y nadie se presentará delante de mí con las manos vacías.	20 The firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a sheep: but if thou wilt not give a price for it, it shall be slain. The firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem: neither shalt thou appear before me empty.
21 Durante seis días trabajarás, pero el séptimo día deberás descansar, incluso en tiempo de siembra y de cosecha.	21 Six days shalt thou work, the seventh day thou shalt cease to plough, and to reap.
22 Celebrarás también la fiesta de las Semanas, la de los primeros frutos de la cosecha del trigo y además, la fiesta de la Recolección, al término del año.	22 Thou shalt keep the feast of weeks with the firstfruits of the corn of thy wheat harvest, and the feast when the time of the year returneth that all things are laid in.
23 Tres veces al año todos los varones se presentarán delante del Señor, el Dios de Israel.	23 Three times in a year all thy males shall appear in the sight of the Almighty Lord the God of Israel.
24 Porque yo voy a desposeer a las naciones delante de ti y ensancharé tus fronteras, y cuando subas a presentarte ante el Señor, tu Dios, tres veces al año, nadie codiciará tu territorio.	24 For when I shall have taken away the nations from thy face, and shall have enlarged thy borders, no man shall lie in wait against thy land when thou shalt go up, and appear in the sight of the Lord thy God thrice in a year.
25 No ofrecerás nada fermentado junto con la sangre de la víctima sacrificada en mi honor, y no quedará para el día siguiente la víctima inmolada en la fiesta de la Pascua.	25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice upon leaven: neither shall there remain in the morning any thing of the victim of the solemnity of the Lord.
26 Llevarás a la casa del Señor, tu Dios, lo mejor de los primeros frutos de tu suelo. No harás cocer un cabrito en la leche de su madre.	26 The first of the fruits of thy ground thou shalt offer in the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in the milk of his dam.
27 Después el Señor dijo a Moisés: consigna por escrito estas palabras, porque ellas son las cláusulas de la alianza que yo hago contigo y con Israel».	27 And the Lord said to Moses: Write these words by which I have made a covenant both with thee and with Israel.
28 Moisés estuvo allí con el Señor cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, sin comer ni beber. Y escribió sobre las tablas las palabras de la alianza, es decir, los diez Mandamientos.	28 And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights: he neither ate bread nor drank water, and he wrote upon the tables the ten words of the covenant.
29 Cuando Moisés bajó de la montaña del Sinaí, trayendo en sus manos las dos tablas del Testimonio, no sabía que su rostro se había vuelto radiante porque había hablado con el Señor.	29 And when Moses came down from the mount Sinai, he held the two tables of the testimony, and he knew not that his face was horned from the conversation of the Lord.
30 Al verlo, Aarón y todos los israelitas advirtieron que su rostro resplandecía, y tuvieron miedo de acercarse a él.	30 And Aaron and the children of Israel seeing the face of Moses horned, were afraid to come near.
31 Pero Moisés los llamó; entonces se acercaron Aarón y todos los jefes de la comunidad, y él les habló.	31 And being called by him, they returned, both Aaron and the rulers of the congregation. And after that he spoke to them.
32 Después se acercaron también todos los israelitas, y él les transmitió las órdenes que el Señor le había dado en la montaña del Sinaí.	32 And all the children of Israel came to him: and he gave them in commandment all that he had heard of the Lord in mount Sinai.
33 Cuando Moisés terminó de hablarles, se cubrió el rostro con un velo.	33 And having done speaking, he put a veil upon his face.
34 Y siempre que iba a presentarse delante del Señor para conversar con él, se quitaba el velo hasta que salía de la Carpa. Al salir, comunicaba a los israelitas lo que el Señor le había ordenado,	34 But when he went in to the Lord, and spoke with him, he took it away until he came forth, and then he spoke to the children of Israel all things that had been commanded him.
35 y los israelitas veían que su rostro estaba radiante. Después Moisés volvía a poner el velo sobre su rostro, hasta que entraba de nuevo a conversar con el Señor.	35 And they saw that the face of Moses when he came out was horned, but he covered his face again, if at any time he spoke to them.
