BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Simón, hijo de Onías, fue el sumo sacerdote que en su vida reparó la Casa, y en sus días fortificó el santuario.	1 It was the High Priest Simon son of Onias who repaired the Temple during his lifetime and in his day fortified the sanctuary.
2 El echó los cimientos de la altura doble, del alto contrafuerte de la cerca del Templo.	2 He laid the foundations of double depth, the high buttresses of the Temple precincts.
3 En sus días fue excavado el depósito de agua, un estanque como el mar de ancho.	3 In his day the pool was excavated, a reservoir as huge as the sea.
4 El cuidó de su pueblo para evitar su ruina y fortificó la ciudad contra el asedio.	4 Anxious to save the people from ruin, he fortified the city against siege.
5 ¡Que glorioso era, rodeado de su pueblo, cuando salía de la casa del velo!	5 How splendid he was with the people thronging round him, when he emerged from the curtained shrine,
6 Como el lucero del alba en medio de las nubes, como la luna llena,	6 like the morning star among the clouds, like the moon at the ful ,
7 como el sol que brilla sobre el Templo del Altísimo, como el arco iris que ilumina las nubes de gloria,	7 like the sun shining on the Temple of the Most High, like the rainbow gleaming against bril iant clouds,
8 como flor del rosal en primavera, como lirio junto a un manantial, como brote del Líbano en verano,	8 like a rose in springtime, like a lily by a spring, like a branch of the incense tree in summer,
9 como fuego e incienso en el incensario, como vaso de oro macizo adornado de toda clase de piedras preciosas,	9 like fire and incense in the censer, like a massive golden vessel encrusted with every kind of preciousstone,
10 como olivo floreciente de frutos, como ciprés que se eleva hasta las nubes.	10 like an olive tree loaded with fruit, like a cypress soaring to the clouds;
11 Cuando se ponía la vestidura de gala y se vestía sus elegantes ornamentos, al subir al santo altar, llenaba de gloria el recinto del santuario.	11 when he took his ceremonial robe and put on his magnificent ornaments, when he went up to the holyaltar and fil ed the sanctuary precincts with his grandeur;
12 Y cuando recibía las porciones de manos de los sacerdotes, él mismo de pie junto al hogar del altar, y en torno a él la corona de sus hermanos, como brotes de cedros en el Líbano; le rodeaban como tallos de palmera	12 when he received the portions from the hands of the priests, himself standing by the altar hearth,crowned with the circle of his brothers, as a cedar of Lebanon is by its foliage, as though surrounded by thetrunks of palm trees.
13 todos los hijos de Aarón en su esplendor, con la ofrenda del Señor en sus manos, en presencia de toda la asamblea de Israel.	13 When all the sons of Aaron in their glory, with the offerings of the Lord in their hands, stood before thewhole assembly of Israel,
14 Y cuando cumplía el ministerio de los altares ordenando la ofrenda del Altísimo Todopoderoso,	14 while he completed the rites at the altars, nobly presenting the offerings to the Almighty, Most High!
15 alargaba su mano a la copa, hacía la libación del jugo de racimo, y lo derramaba al pie del altar, como calmante aroma al Altísimo Rey universal.	15 He would reach out his hand to the cup and pour a libation of wine, pouring it at the foot of the altar, afragrance pleasing to the Most High, King of All;
16 Entonces prorrumpían en gritos los hijos de Aarón, tocaban con sus trompetas de metal batido, hacían oír su sonido imponente, como memorial delante del Altísimo.	16 then the sons of Aaron would shout and blow their metal trumpets, making a mighty sound ring out asa reminder before the Most High;
17 Todo el pueblo entonces de repente, en masa, caía rostro en tierra, para adorar a su Señor, al Todopoderoso, Dios Altísimo.	17 and immediately the people al together would fal on their faces to the ground, in adoration of theirLord, the Almighty, God Most High,
18 Y los salmistas también le alababan con sus voces, el son vibrante formaba una dulce melodía.	18 and with the cantors chanting their hymns of praise. Sweet was the melody of al these voices,
19 Y suplicaba el pueblo al Señor Altísimo, orando ante el Misericordioso, hasta que terminaba la ceremonia del Señor y concluía su liturgia.	19 as the people pleaded with the Lord Most High and prayed in the presence of the Merciful, until theservice of the Lord was completed and the ceremony at an end.
20 Entonces bajaba y elevaba sus manos sobre toda la asamblea de los hijos de Israel, para dar con sus labios la bendición del Señor y tener el honor de pronunciar su nombre.	20 Then he would come down and raise his hands over the whole assembly of the Israelites, to give themthe Lord's blessing from his lips, being privileged to pronounce his name;
21 Y por segunda vez todos se postraban para recibir la bendición del Altísimo.	21 and once again the people would bow low to receive the blessing of the Most High.
22 Y ahora bendecid al Dios del universo, el que por todas partes hace grandes cosas, el que exaltó nuestros días desde el seno materno, y que nos trata según su misericordia.	22 And now bless the God of al things, the doer of great deeds everywhere, who has exalted our daysfrom the womb and has acted merciful y towards us.
23 Que nos dé contento de corazón, y que haya paz en nuestros días en Israel por los siglos de los siglos.	23 May he grant us cheerful hearts and bring peace in our time, in Israel for ages on ages.
24 Que su misericordia sea fiel con nosotros y en nuestros días nos rescate.	24 May his mercy be faithfully with us, may he redeem us in our own times!
25 Hay dos naciones que mi alma detesta, y la tercera ni siquiera es nación:	25 There are two nations that my soul detests, the third is not a nation at al :
26 los habitantes de la montaña de Seír, los filisteos y el pueblo necio que mora en Siquem.	26 the inhabitants of Mount Seir, the Philistines, and the stupid people living at Shechem.
27 Instrucción de inteligencia y ciencia ha grabado en este libro Jesús, hijo de Sirá, Eleazar, de Jerusalén, que vertió de su corazón sabiduría a raudales.	27 Instruction in wisdom and knowledge is what has been written in this book by Jesus son of SiraEleazar of Jerusalem, who has poured a rain of wisdom from his heart.
28 Feliz quien repase esto a menudo; el que lo ponga en su corazón se hará sabio.	28 Blessed is he who devotes his time to these and grows wise by taking them to heart!
29 Y si lo practica, para todo será fuerte, porque la huella que sigue es la luz del Señor.	29 If he practises them he will be strong enough for anything, since the light of the Lord is his path.
