Deuxième épître à Timothée 4

1 Je te demande au nom de Dieu et du Christ Jésus qui doit venir juger les vivants et les morts - car il va se manifester et il régnera. Je te le demande:	1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 proclame la Parole, insiste à temps et à contre-temps, cherche des arguments, ordonne et encourage, toujours avec patience et pédagogie.	2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 Un temps viendra où les gens ne voudront plus de la saine doctrine; alors ils se trouveront des maîtres à leur goût qui sauront comment chatouiller leurs oreilles.	3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 Ils fermeront leurs oreilles à la vérité et s’intéresseront à des fables.	4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 Il te faut donc rester toujours en alerte. Ne ménage pas ta peine, fais ton travail d’évangéliste, remplis ton service.	5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 Pour moi, je suis déjà près de la fin et le moment de mon départ approche.	6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 J’ai fait un bon match, j’ai couru jusqu’au bout, j’ai gardé le dépôt qu’on m’avait confié.	7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Maintenant j’attends la couronne de toute vie sainte que le Seigneur me donnera, lui le juste Juge, quand viendra son jour, et pas seulement à moi, mais aussi à tous les amis de sa venue glorieuse.	8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
9 Fais tout pour me rejoindre au plus tôt.	9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
10 Démas aimait ce monde, et il m’a laissé; il est rentré à Thessalonique. Crescens est parti en Galatie et Tite en Dalmatie.	10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11 Seul Luc est avec moi. Prends Marc au passage car il me sera bien utile pour le ministère.	11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12 J’ai envoyé Tychique à Éphèse.	12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13 Quand tu viendras, apporte-moi le manteau que j’ai laissé à Troas chez Carpus, et aussi les livres, surtout les parchemins.	13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14 Alexandre, le forgeron, m’a fait beaucoup de mal: Le Seigneur lui donnera ce que méritent ses œuvres.	14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15 Mais méfie-toi de lui car il contredit fortement ce que nous disons.	15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16 La première fois que j’ai présenté ma défense, personne n’était avec moi, tous m’ont abandonné; que le Seigneur leur pardonne.	16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Mais le Seigneur était avec moi, et il m’a donné la force pour que le message soit proclamé grâce à moi et que tous les païens en aient connaissance. Et j’ai été sauvé de la gueule du lion.	17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 Le Seigneur me délivrera de tout mal et me sauvera, m’envoyant à son royaume du Ciel. À lui seul la gloire pour les siècles des siècles! Amen.	18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Salue Prisca et Aquilas et la famille d’Onésiphore.	19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 Éraste est resté à Corinthe, et j’ai laissé Trophime à Milet car il était malade.	20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
21 Dépêche-toi de venir avant l’hiver. Je t’envoie le salut d’Euboule et Pudens, de Linus, de Claudia et de tous les frères.	21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
22 Que le Seigneur soit avec ton esprit. Que la grâce soit avec vous tous.	22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
