1 Écoutez cette parole que je prononce contre vous, maison d’Israël, c’est une lamentation.	1 Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
2 La vierge d’Israël est tombée, elle ne se relèvera pas; elle est jetée à terre, personne ne la relèvera.	2 The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Dites-moi les villes en Israël qui envoyaient mille hommes en campagne: elles n’en auront plus que cent; celle qui pouvait en envoyer cent n’en aura plus que dix.	3 For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
4 Car voici ce que dit Yahvé à la maison d’Israël: Cherchez-moi et vous vivrez!	4 For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
5 Mais ne cherchez pas à Béthel, n’allez pas à Guilgal, ne passez pas à Bersabée, car Guilgal ira en captivité, et de Béthel il ne restera rien.	5 But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
6 Cherchez Yahvé et vous vivrez; voulez-vous qu’il envoie le feu contre la maison de Joseph, et qu’il la dévore sans que nul ne l’éteigne?	6 Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
7 5:8 C’est lui qui fit les Pléiades, Orion, qui change les ténèbres en aurore et le jour en une nuit obscure, qui appelle les eaux de la mer et les répand sur toute la terre; son Nom est Yahvé.	7 Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
8 5:9 Il déchaîne la ruine sur les puissants, et la ruine pénètre dans la forteresse.	8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:
9 5:7 Malheur à qui prononce, au lieu du droit, une sentence amère, et qui piétine la justice.	9 That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
10 Ils détestent celui qui défend le droit; ils ont en horreur celui qui dit la vérité.	10 They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 N’est-ce pas vous qui piétinez le pauvre et lui taxez son blé? Construisez donc vos maisons de pierre, vous ne les habiterez pas; plantez de bonnes vignes, vous n’en boirez pas le vin.	11 Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
12 Car je connais vos crimes, ils sont nombreux; je connais vos péchés, ils sont énormes. Vous opprimez le juste, vous ramassez les pots-de-vin, et au tribunal vous retirez ses droits au pauvre.	12 For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 L’homme sage aujourd’hui se tait, car c’est un temps de malheur.	13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 Cherchez le bien et non le mal, et vous vivrez; alors Yahvé, le Dieu Sabaot, sera avec vous comme vous le dites.	14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 Détestez le mal et aimez le bien, faites régner la justice à la porte de la ville; peut-être Yahvé, le Dieu Sabaot, aura-t-il pitié du reste de Joseph!	15 Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
16 Voici ce que dit Yahvé, le Dieu Sabaot, le Seigneur: Sur toutes les places on se lamente, dans toutes les rues j’entends: Hélas, hélas! On invite les laboureurs à faire ensemble le deuil, avec des pleureurs pour les lamentations.	16 Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing.
17 Car je vais passer au milieu de toi et ce seront des lamentations dans toutes les vignes: c’est le Seigneur qui le dit.	17 And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.
18 Hélas pour vous, qui soupirez après le jour de Yahvé! Que sera-t-il pour vous, le jour de Yahvé? Il sera ténèbres et non lumière.	18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
19 Ce sera comme un homme qui s’enfuit devant un lion et tombe sur un ours; il se réfugie dans sa maison, s’appuie sur le mur, et un serpent le mord.	19 As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 Le jour de Yahvé ne sera pas lumière, mais bien plutôt ténèbres, ce sera l’obscurité où plus rien ne brille.	20 Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 Je déteste, je méprise vos fêtes, je ne supporte pas vos célébrations.	21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 Pourquoi m’offrez-vous des holocaustes, des offrandes? Je n’y prends pas plaisir. Vos sacrifices de bêtes grasses, je ne les regarde pas.	22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Éloigne de moi le bruit de tes cantiques, que je n’entende plus le son de tes harpes;	23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 mais fais que le jugement coule comme l’eau, et la justice comme un torrent jamais à sec.	24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
25 M’offriez-vous des sacrifices et des offrandes pendant les quarante ans du désert, maison d’Israël?	25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 Gardez donc les idoles que vous vous êtes fabriquées, Sakkout votre roi, et l’étoile de votre dieu Kévan,	26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
27 et moi je vous déporterai au-delà de Damas, dit Yahvé; le Dieu Sabaot est son Nom.	27 Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
