1 Parole d’Amos, l’un des intendants des troupeaux de Tékoa. Voici ce qu’il a vu au sujet d’Israël au temps d’Osias, roi de Juda, et de Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d’Israël. C’était deux ans avant le tremblement de terre, et voici ce qu’il a dit:	1 The words of Amos, who was among the shepherds of Tekoa, which he saw about Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 Yahvé rugit de Sion, de Jérusalem il fait entendre sa voix. Les pâturages des bergers sont en deuil et le sommet du Carmel se dessèche.	2 And he said: The Lord will roar from Zion, and from Jerusalem he will utter his voice. And the beautiful pastures have mourned, and the top of Carmel has become dry.
3 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je l’ai décidé et je ne reviendrai pas en arrière. Damas a dépassé la limite du crime: ils ont broyé Galaad avec des traîneaux de fer.	3 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Damascus, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have threshed Gilead into iron wagons.
4 C’est pourquoi j’enverrai le feu dans la maison de Hazaël et il dévorera les palais de Ben-Hadad.	4 And I will send fire onto the house of Hazael, and it will devour the houses of Ben-hadad.
5 Je briserai la forteresse de Damas; je supprimerai l’habitant de Bikeat-Aven, le roi de Beth-Éden, et le peuple d’Aram sera déporté à Kir; c’est Yahvé qui le dit.	5 And I will shatter the crowbar of Damascus, and I will destroy the inhabitants of the camp of the idol and the holder of the scepter of the house of pleasure; and the people of Syria will be transferred to Cyrene, says the Lord.
6 Je l’ai décidé et je ne reviendrai pas en arrière. Gaza a dépassé la limite du crime: ils ont déporté des populations entières pour les livrer à Édom.	6 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Gaza, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have carried out an excellent captivity, so as to enclose them in Idumea.
7 C’est pourquoi j’enverrai le feu dans les remparts de Gaza et il dévorera ses palais.	7 And I will send a fire onto the wall of Gaza, and it will devour its buildings.
8 Je supprimerai l’habitant d’Ashdod et le roi d’Ashkélon, je lèverai ma main contre Ékron, et ce qui reste des Philistins périra; c’est le Seigneur Yahvé qui le dit.	8 And I will destroy the inhabitant from Ashdod, and the holder of the scepter of Ashkelon. And I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the remainder of the Philistines will perish, says the Lord God.
9 Je l’ai décidé et je ne reviendrai pas en arrière. Tyr a dépassé les limites du crime: ils ont livré à Édom des populations entières de captifs, ils ont oublié l’alliance entre frères.	9 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Tyre, and for four, I will not convert it, in so far as they have completed an excellent captivity in Idumea and have not considered the bond among brothers.
10 C’est pourquoi j’enverrai le feu dans les remparts de Tyr et il dévorera ses palais.	10 And I will send a fire onto the wall of Tyre, and it will devour its buildings.
11 Je l’ai décidé et je ne reviendrai pas en arrière. Édom a dépassé la limite du crime: il a poursuivi son frère avec l’épée, il n’a eu aucune pitié, sa colère ne s’apaisait pas et sa fureur ne cessait pas.	11 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Edom, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has been pursuing his brother with the sword and has outraged his brother’s compassion, and he has gone beyond his anger and has held onto his indignation until the end.
12 C’est pourquoi j’enverrai le feu dans Téman et il dévorera les palais de Bosra.	12 I will send a fire onto Teman, and it will devour the buildings of Bozrah.
13 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Je l’ai décidé et je ne reviendrai pas en arrière. Les Ammonites ont dépassé les limites du crime: ils ont éventré les femmes enceintes de Galaad quand ils ont pris leur territoire;	13 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of the sons of Ammon, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has cut up the pregnant women of Gilead, so as to expand his limits.
14 c’est pourquoi je mettrai le feu dans les remparts de Rabba, et il dévorera ses palais au milieu des cris d’un jour de bataille, au milieu de l’ouragan, comme en un jour de tempête.	14 And I will ignite a fire on the wall of Rabbah. And it will devour its buildings, with wailing on the day of war, and with a whirlwind on the day of commotion.
15 Le roi partira en captivité et ses chefs avec lui; c’est Yahvé qui le dit.	15 And Melchom will go into captivity, he and his leaders together, says the Lord.
