1 Prends donc une lame tranchante, fils d’homme, affûte-la comme un rasoir de barbier et fais-la passer sur ta tête et sur ta barbe. Ensuite, prends une balance et partage les poils que tu auras coupés.	1 'Son of man, take a sharp sword, use it like a barber's razor and run it over your head and beard. Thentake scales and divide the hair you have cut off.
2 Tu en brûleras un tiers au milieu de la ville assiégée. Tu prendras un autre tiers que tu frapperas de l’épée autour de la ville, et tu jetteras au vent le dernier tiers; moi, je lâcherai l’épée derrière eux.	2 Burn one-third inside the city, while the days of the siege are working themselves out. Then takeanother third and chop it up with the sword all round the city. The last third you are to scatter to the wind, while Iunsheathe the sword behind them.
3 Tu en mettras de côté quelques-uns que tu cacheras dans les plis de ton manteau;	3 Also take a few hairs and tie them up in the folds of your cloak;
4 de ceux-là tu en prendras encore pour les jeter au feu et les brûler. Alors tu diras à toute la maison d’Israël:	4 and of these again take a few, and throw them on the fire and burn them. From them fire will come onthe whole House of Israel.
5 “Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Vous avez là Jérusalem! Je l’avais placée au milieu des nations, les pays étrangers restaient sur les bords.	5 'The Lord Yahweh says this, "This is Jerusalem, which I have placed in the middle of the nations,surrounded with foreign countries.
6 Mais dans sa méchanceté, elle a rejeté mes commandements plus que les autres nations, et mes lois plus que les pays qui l’entourent: ces gens ont rejeté mes commandements et n’ont pas marché selon mes lois.	6 She has rebelled more perversely against my observances than the nations have, and against my lawsthan the surrounding countries have; for they have rejected my observances and not kept my laws."
7 C’est pourquoi, voici ce que dit Yahvé: Vous avez été plus rebelles que les nations qui vous entourent, et vous n’avez pas marché selon mes lois; vous n’avez pas observé mes commandements, mais au contraire vous avez agi comme les nations qui vous entourent.	7 'Therefore, the Lord Yahweh says this, "Because your disorders are worse than those of the nationsround you, since you do not keep my laws or respect my observances, and since you do not respect even theobservances of the surrounding nations,
8 À cause de cela Yahvé vous dit: Moi à mon tour je m’en prends à toi; j’accomplirai au milieu de toi sous les yeux des nations ce que j’ai décidé.	8 very wel , the Lord Yahweh says this: I, too, am against you and shal execute my judgements on youfor the nations to see.
9 À cause de tous tes crimes je te ferai ce que je n’ai jamais fait et que je ne ferai jamais plus.	9 Because of al your loathsome practices I shal do such things as I have never done before, nor shallever do again.
10 On verra chez toi des pères manger leurs fils et des fils dévorer leur père. J’accomplirai ce que j’ai décidé contre toi et je disperserai à tous vents ce qui restera de toi.	10 Those of you who are parents wil eat their children, and children wil eat their parents. I shall executejudgement on you and disperse what remains of you to the winds.
11 Je le jure par ma vie, dit Yahvé, parce que tu as souillé mon Sanctuaire avec toutes tes ordures et tes horreurs, moi à mon tour je ferai place nette et mon œil sera sans pitié, je serai sans miséricorde.	11 For, as I live -- declares Lord Yahweh -- as sure as you have defiled my sanctuary with al your horrorsand all your loathsome practices, so I too shal reject you without a glance of pity, I shal not spare you.
12 Un tiers de tes habitants mourra par la peste ou sera consumé par la faim dans tes murs; un tiers sera frappé par l’épée tout autour de toi, je disperserai les autres à tous les vents et je lâcherai l’épée derrière eux.	12 A third of your citizens wil die of plague or starve to death inside you; a third wil fall by the swordround you; and a third I shal scatter to the winds, unsheathing the sword behind them.
13 Ma colère se déchaînera avec fureur et, quand ma colère se déchaînera, ils sauront quelle indignation me faisait parler, moi Yahvé.	13 I shal sate my anger and bring my fury to rest on them until I am avenged; and when I have sated myfury on them, then they wil know that I, Yahweh, spoke out of jealousy for you.
14 Je ferai de toi une ruine au milieu des nations qui t’entourent et un objet de moquerie pour tous les passants.	14 Yes, I shal reduce you to a ruin, an object of derision to the surrounding nations, in the eyes of al whopass by.
15 Tu deviendras un objet de raillerie et de moquerie pour les nations qui t’entourent, lorsque je te corrigerai sans pitié et je te ferai comme je l’ai dit. Moi, Yahvé, j’ai parlé.	15 You will be an object of derision and insults, an example, an object of amazement to the surroundingnations, when I execute judgement on you in furious anger and furious punishments. I, Yahweh, have spoken.
16 J’enverrai contre vous les flèches redoutables de la faim pour vous exterminer, je vous laisserai sans pain.	16 On them I shal send the deadly arrows of famine, which wil destroy you -- for I shall send them todestroy you; then I shall make the famine worse and cut off your food supply.
17 J’enverrai contre toi famine et bêtes féroces pour te priver de tes enfants; tu connaîtras la peste et le sang répandu, car je ferai venir l’épée contre toi. Moi, Yahvé, j’ai parlé.	17 I shal send famine and wild animals on you to rob you of your children; plague and bloodshed wilsweep through you, and I shal bring the sword down on you. I, Yahweh, have spoken." '
