1 Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Taille-toi deux tables en pierre comme les premières, et j’écrirai sur les tables les paroles qui étaient gravées sur celles que tu as brisées.	1 And after this he said: Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the former, and I will write upon them the words which were in the tables, which thou brokest.
2 “Préparez-vous pour demain, et toi dès le matin tu graviras le mont Sinaï, où tu m’attendras au sommet de la montagne.	2 Be ready in the morning, that thou mayst forthwith go up into mount Sinai, and thou shalt stand with me upon the top of the mount.
3 Personne ne viendra avec toi, et qu’on ne voie personne sur toute la montagne. Ne laissez pas vos brebis et vos bêtes paître au pied de la montagne.”	3 Let no man go up with thee: and let not any man be seen throughout all the mount: neither let the oxen nor the sheep feed over against it.
4 Moïse tailla donc deux tables de pierre semblables aux premières. Il se leva de bon matin et gravit le mont Sinaï selon l’ordre de Yahvé; il avait en main les deux tables de pierre.	4 Then he cut out two tables of stone, such as had been before: and rising very early he went up into the mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, carrying with him the tables.
5 Alors Yahvé descendit au milieu de la nuée et se tint près de lui. Moïse invoqua le nom de Yahvé,	5 And when the Lord was come down in a cloud, Moses stood with him, calling upon the name of the Lord.
6 et Yahvé passa devant lui en disant d’une voix forte: “Yahvé! Yahvé! Dieu de tendresse et de miséricorde! Il est lent à la colère, très généreux dans ses faveurs et sa fidélité.	6 And when he passed before him, he said: O the Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, patient and of much compassion, and true,
7 Il maintient ses faveurs pour mille générations; il supporte fautes, révoltes et péchés, mais il ne laisse pas passer la faute: il réclame la dette des pères à leurs fils et aux fils de leurs fils, jusqu’à la troisième et la quatrième génération.”	7 Who keepest mercy unto thousands: who takest away iniquity, and wickedness, and sin, and no man of himself is innocent before thee. Who renderest the iniquity of the fathers to the children, and to the grandchildren, unto the third and fourth generation.
8 Moïse aussitôt s’agenouilla et se prosterna.	8 And Moses making haste, bowed down prostrate unto the earth, and adoring,
9 Puis il dit: “Mon Seigneur! Si j’ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, que Mon Seigneur accepte de marcher au milieu de nous. Nous sommes un peuple à la nuque raide, mais tu pardonneras notre faute, notre péché et tu feras de nous ton héritage.”	9 Said: If I have found grace in thy sight: O Lord, I beseech thee, that thou wilt go with us, (for it is a stiffnecked people,) and take away our iniquities and sin, and possess us.
10 Yahvé dit: “Je prends un engagement: je ferai devant tout ton peuple des merveilles comme on n’en a jamais vu sur terre et dans aucune nation. Tout le peuple au milieu duquel tu vis verra l’œuvre de Yahvé, car ce sont des choses grandioses que j’accomplirai avec toi.	10 The Lord answered: I will make a covenant in the sight of all. I will do signs such as were never seen upon the earth, nor in any nation: that this people, in the midst of whom thou art, may see the terrible work of the Lord which I will do.
11 Observe tout ce que je te commande aujourd’hui, et moi je chasserai devant toi l’Amorite, le Cananéen, le Hittite, le Périsite, le Hivvite et le Jébusite.	11 Observe all things which this day I command thee: I myself will drive out before thy face the Amorrhite, and the Chanaanite, and the Hethite, and the Pherezite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite.
12 Fais attention à ne pas conclure d’alliance avec les habitants du pays dans lequel tu entreras: ils seraient vite un piège pour toi.	12 Beware thou never join in friendship with the inhabitants of that land, which may be thy ruin:
13 Vous renverserez leurs autels, vous briserez leurs pierres sacrées et vous mettrez en pièces leurs idoles.	13 But destroy their altars, break their statues, and cut down their groves:
14 Tu ne te prosterneras pas devant un autre dieu, car Yahvé s’appelle: le Jaloux. Oui, il est un Dieu jaloux!	14 Adore not any strange god. The Lord his name is Jealous, he is a jealous God.
15 Tu ne feras pas d’alliance avec les habitants du pays, qui se prostituent avec leurs dieux et leur offrent des sacrifices. Il ne faut pas qu’ils t’invitent et que tu manges avec eux de leurs sacrifices;	15 Make no covenant with the men of those countries lest, when they have committed fornication with their gods, and have adored their idols, some one call thee to eat of the things sacrificed.
16 tu ne prendras pas leurs filles pour tes fils, car leurs filles, qui se prostituent avec leurs dieux, entraîneraient tes fils à faire comme elles.	16 Neither shalt thou take of their daughters a wife for thy son, lest after they themselves have committed fornication, they make thy sons also to commit fornication with their gods.
17 Tu ne feras pas de dieu en métal fondu.	17 Thou shalt not make to thyself any molten gods.
18 Tu observeras la fête des pains sans levain. Durant sept jours, à la date fixée du mois d’Abib, tu mangeras du pain sans levain comme je te l’ai commandé; car c’est au mois d’Abib que tu es sorti d’Égypte.	18 Thou shalt keep the feast of the unleavened bread. Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee in the time of the month of the new corn: for in the month of the springtime thou camest out from Egypt.
19 Tout premier-né est à moi, ainsi que le premier-né de la vache ou de la brebis.	19 All of the male kind, that openeth the womb, shall be mine. Of all beasts, both of oxen and of sheep, it shall be mine.
20 Tu rachèteras le premier-né de l’âne au prix d’un agneau et, si tu ne le rachètes pas, tu lui briseras la nuque. Tu rachèteras tout premier-né parmi tes fils. On ne se présentera pas devant moi les mains vides.	20 The firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a sheep: but if thou wilt not give a price for it, it shall be slain. The firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem: neither shalt thou appear before me empty.
21 Tu travailleras pendant six jours, mais le septième jour tu te reposeras, même à la période des labours ou de la moisson.	21 Six days shalt thou work, the seventh day thou shalt cease to plough, and to reap.
22 Tu célébreras en mon honneur la fête des Semaines: tu offriras alors les premières gerbes de blé de ta moisson. Tu célébreras aussi la fête de la récolte à la fin de l’année.	22 Thou shalt keep the feast of weeks with the firstfruits of the corn of thy wheat harvest, and the feast when the time of the year returneth that all things are laid in.
23 Trois fois par an, tous les mâles de ton peuple se présenteront devant le Seigneur Yahvé, le Dieu d’Israël.	23 Three times in a year all thy males shall appear in the sight of the Almighty Lord the God of Israel.
24 Car je vais chasser devant toi les nations et je repousserai tes frontières. Personne ne cherchera à te prendre ta terre tant que tu monteras trois fois l’an pour te présenter devant Yahvé ton Dieu.	24 For when I shall have taken away the nations from thy face, and shall have enlarged thy borders, no man shall lie in wait against thy land when thou shalt go up, and appear in the sight of the Lord thy God thrice in a year.
25 Tu n’offriras pas le sang des sacrifices avec du pain levé. Quant au sacrifice de la fête de la Pâque, tu n’en garderas rien jusqu’au lendemain matin.	25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice upon leaven: neither shall there remain in the morning any thing of the victim of the solemnity of the Lord.
26 Tu présenteras à la Maison de Yahvé ton Dieu les premiers fruits de ton sol. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.”	26 The first of the fruits of thy ground thou shalt offer in the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in the milk of his dam.
27 Alors Yahvé dit à Moïse: “Écris toutes ces paroles, car c’est le contenu de l’Alliance que j’ai faite avec toi et avec Israël.”	27 And the Lord said to Moses: Write these words by which I have made a covenant both with thee and with Israel.
28 Moïse resta là avec Yahvé quarante jours et quarante nuits, sans manger de pain et sans boire d’eau. Il écrivit sur les tables toutes les paroles de l’Alliance, les Dix Paroles.	28 And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights: he neither ate bread nor drank water, and he wrote upon the tables the ten words of the covenant.
29 Moïse redescendit de la montagne du Sinaï avec, dans sa main, les deux tables du Témoignage. Mais quand il descendit de la montagne, Moïse ne savait pas que la peau de son visage était rayonnante de lumière: il avait parlé avec Dieu!	29 And when Moses came down from the mount Sinai, he held the two tables of the testimony, and he knew not that his face was horned from the conversation of the Lord.
30 Lorsque Aaron et tous les Israélites virent Moïse et son visage rayonnant de lumière, ils n’osèrent pas l’approcher.	30 And Aaron and the children of Israel seeing the face of Moses horned, were afraid to come near.
31 Mais Moïse les appela. Alors Aaron et tous les chefs de la communauté s’approchèrent de lui et Moïse leur parla.	31 And being called by him, they returned, both Aaron and the rulers of the congregation. And after that he spoke to them.
32 Puis tous les Israélites s’approchèrent à leur tour et Moïse leur transmit tous les ordres que Yahvé avait donnés sur le mont Sinaï.	32 And all the children of Israel came to him: and he gave them in commandment all that he had heard of the Lord in mount Sinai.
33 Lorsque Moïse eut fini de parler, il se voila le visage.	33 And having done speaking, he put a veil upon his face.
34 Chaque fois que Moïse se présentait devant Yahvé pour parler avec lui, il ôtait son voile jusqu’au moment où il se retirait. Alors il venait dire aux Israélites ce qui lui avait été commandé.	34 But when he went in to the Lord, and spoke with him, he took it away until he came forth, and then he spoke to the children of Israel all things that had been commanded him.
35 Les Israélites voyaient le visage de Moïse rayonnant de lumière. Mais Moïse remettait le voile sur son visage jusqu’au moment où il se présentait de nouveau pour parler avec Dieu	35 And they saw that the face of Moses when he came out was horned, but he covered his face again, if at any time he spoke to them.
