1 Salomon construisit également son palais, il mit 13 ans pour le terminer.	1 His own palace Solomon completed after thirteen years of construction.
2 Il construisit la maison de la Forêt-du-Liban: elle avait 100 coudées de long, 50 coudées de large et 30 coudées de haut. Elle était portée par des poutres de cèdres reposant sur des colonnes de cèdre.	2 He built the hall called the Forest of Lebanon one hundred cubits long, fifty wide, and thirty high; it was supported by four rows of cedar columns, with cedar capitals upon the columns.
3 Un plafond de cèdre recouvrait les chambres, porté par les 45 colonnes réparties en trois rangées de 15.	3 Moreover, it had a ceiling of cedar above the beams resting on the columns; these beams numbered forty-five, fifteen to a row.

5 Toutes les portes et fenêtres étaient carrées et les fenêtres se faisaient face tous les trois pas.	5 The posts of all the doorways were rectangular, and the doorways faced each other, three at either end.
6 Il fit un vestibule à colonnes, sa longueur était de 50 coudées et sa largeur de 30; en avant se dressait un portique avec des colonnes et des degrés.	6 The porch of the columned hall he made fifty cubits long and thirty wide. The porch extended the width of the columned hall, and there was a canopy in front.
7 Salomon fit aussi le Vestibule du Trône où il rendait la justice, on l’appelait le vestibule du Jugement; il était recouvert de cèdre depuis le sol jusqu’au plafond.	7 He also built the vestibule of the throne where he gave judgment--that is, the tribunal; it was paneled with cedar from floor to ceiling beams.
8 Son habitation privée était construite de la même façon, dans une seconde cour, au-delà du Vestibule; Salomon construisit pour la fille du Pharaon qu’il avait épousée une maison semblable au Vestibule.	8 His living quarters were in another court, set in deeper than the tribunal and of the same construction. A palace like this tribunal was built for Pharaoh's daughter, whom Solomon had married.
9 Toutes ces constructions, depuis les fondations jusqu’aux corniches, étaient faites de pierres de choix taillées sur mesure et débitées à la scie.	9 All these buildings were of fine stones, hewn to size and trimmed front and back with a saw, from the foundation to the bonding course.
10 Les fondations étaient également en pierres de choix, des pierres de grandes dimensions, de 8 à 10 coudées.	10 (The foundation was made of fine, large blocks, some ten cubits and some eight cubits.

So also were the inner court of the temple of the LORD and the temple porch.
13 Salomon envoya chercher Houram de Tyr,	13 King Solomon had Hiram brought from Tyre.
14 il était fils d’une veuve de la tribu de Nephtali, mais son père était de Tyr et il travaillait le bronze. C’était un homme très habile, plein de sagesse et de savoir-faire pour tout ce qui concernait le bronze. Il arriva donc auprès de Salomon pour exécuter tous ses travaux.	14 He was a bronze worker, the son of a widow from the tribe of Naphtali; his father had been from Tyre. He was endowed with skill, understanding, and knowledge of how to produce any work in bronze. He came to King Solomon and did all his metal work.
15 Il fondit les deux colonnes de bronze; chaque colonne avait 18 coudées de haut, un fil de 12 coudées en mesurait le tour; la seconde colonne était comme la première.	15 Two hollow bronze columns were cast, each eighteen cubits high and twelve cubits in circumference; their metal was of four fingers' thickness.
16 Il fit deux chapiteaux coulés en bronze pour le sommet des colonnes; chaque chapiteau mesurait cinq coudées de haut.	16 There were also two capitals cast in bronze, to place on top of the columns, each of them five cubits high.
17 Les chapiteaux qui se trouvaient au sommet des colonnes étaient revêtus de filets et de chaînettes de bronze: il y en avait 7 pour chaque chapiteau.	17 Two pieces of network with a chainlike mesh were made to cover the (nodes of the) capitals on top of the columns, one for each capital.
18 Il fit ensuite les grenades, deux rangées autour de chaque filet, pour recouvrir les chapiteaux placés au sommet des colonnes.	18 Four hundred pomegranates were also cast; two hundred of them in a double row encircled the piece of network on each of the two capitals.

22 Ainsi fut achevé le travail des colonnes.	22 Thus the work on the columns was completed.
23 Il fit encore la Mer de bronze. Elle était ronde, avec 10 coudées de diamètre et cinq coudées de hauteur; un fil de 30 coudées en mesurait le tour.	23 The sea was then cast; it was made with a circular rim, and measured ten cubits across, five in height, and thirty in circumference.
24 Au-dessous du rebord il y avait une double rangée de coloquintes en métal fondu.	24 Under the brim, gourds encircled it, ten to the cubit all the way around; the gourds were in two rows and were cast in one mold with the sea.
25 La Mer de bronze reposait sur 12 bœufs, trois regardaient le nord, trois regardaient l’ouest, trois regardaient le midi, et trois regardaient l’est; la partie postérieure de leur corps était cachée par la Mer qui reposait sur eux.	25 This rested on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east, with their haunches all toward the center, where the sea was set upon them.
26 L’épaisseur de la Mer était d’un palme, son bord était façonné comme celui d’une coupe, semblable à une fleur de lys; elle pouvait contenir 2 000 mesures.	26 It was a handbreadth thick, and its brim resembled that of a cup, being lily-shaped. Its capacity was two thousand measures.
27 On fabriqua 10 supports de bronze; chacun mesurait quatre coudées de long, quatre coudées de large et trois coudées de haut.	27 Ten stands were also made of bronze, each four cubits long, four wide, and three high.
28 Voici comment étaient les supports: ils étaient formés de panneaux et les panneaux s’emboîtaient dans des châssis.	28 When these stands were constructed, panels were set within the framework.

30 Chaque support avait quatre roues de bronze avec des essieux de bronze; les quatre pieds avaient des appliques de bronze qui supportaient le bassin; elles étaient fondues avec les pieds, tournées vers l’intérieur.	30 Each stand had four bronze wheels and bronze axles.
31 L’ouverture pour recevoir le bassin était à l’intérieur de la couronne du support qu’elle dépassait d’une coudée sur le haut; cette ouverture était ronde, elle avait un support d’une coudée et demie. Sur cette ouverture il y avait des sculptures, les panneaux étaient carrés et non pas arrondis.	31 This was surmounted by a crown one cubit high within which was a rounded opening to provide a receptacle a cubit and a half in depth. There was carved work at the opening, on panels that were angular, not curved.
32 Les quatre roues étaient au-dessous des panneaux, les essieux des roues étaient fixés au support de bronze; chaque roue avait une coudée et demie de haut.	32 The four wheels were below the paneling, and the axletrees of the wheels and the stand were of one piece. Each wheel was a cubit and a half high.
33 Les roues étaient façonnées comme les roues d’un char: leurs essieux, leurs jantes, leurs rayons et leurs moyeux, tout avait été fondu.	33 The wheels were constructed like chariot wheels; their axles, fellies, spokes, and hubs were all cast. The four legs of each stand had cast braces, which were under the basin; they had wreaths on each side.
34 Aux quatre angles des supports de bronze il y avait des attaches et ces attaches faisaient corps avec le support.	34 These four braces, extending to the corners of each stand, were of one piece with the stand.
35 La couronne qui s’élevait d’une coudée sur le support ne formait qu’un tout avec les appuis et les panneaux.	35 On top of the stand there was a raised collar half a cubit high, with supports and panels which were of one piece with the top of the stand.
36 Sur les plaques des appuis et sur les panneaux on grava des chérubins, des lions et des palmiers, selon la place disponible; des guirlandes en faisaient le tour.	36 On the surfaces of the supports and on the panels, wherever there was a clear space, cherubim, lions, and palm trees were carved, as well as wreaths all around.
37 C’est ainsi qu’on façonna les 10 supports de bronze pareillement fondus, tous de la même dimension et de la même forme.	37 This was how the ten stands were made, all of the same casting, the same size, the same shape.
38 On fit également 10 bassins de bronze, chaque bassin contenait 40 mesures, chaque bassin avait quatre coudées de diamètre; ils reposaient sur les supports, chaque bassin avait le sien.	38 Ten bronze basins were then made, each four cubits in diameter with a capacity of forty measures, one basin for the top of each of the ten stands.
39 On disposa les 10 supports, cinq sur le côté droit de la Maison et cinq sur le côté gauche; on plaça la Mer du côté droit de la Maison quand on regarde l’est, c’est-à-dire vers le sud.	39 The stands were placed, five on the south side of the temple and five on the north. The sea was placed off to the southeast from the south side of the temple.
40 Houram fit également les chaudrons, les pelles et les coupes. Houram acheva ainsi tous les travaux que le roi Salomon lui avait commandés pour la Maison de Yahvé:	40 When Hiram made the pots, shovels, and bowls, he therewith completed all his work for King Solomon in the temple of the LORD:
41 les deux colonnes, les chapiteaux placés au sommet des colonnes, avec les filets de bronze qui les recouvraient,	41 two columns, two nodes for the capitals on top of the columns, two pieces of network covering the nodes for the capitals on top of the columns,
42 les 400 grenades réparties en deux rangées et accrochées au filet de bronze qui couvraient les chapiteaux,	42 four hundred pomegranates in double rows on both pieces of network that covered the two nodes of the capitals where they met the columns,

46 Le roi les fit fondre dans la plaine du Jourdain, près du gué d’Adam, entre Soukkoth et Sartan.	46 The king had them cast in the neighborhood of the Jordan, in the clayey ground between Succoth and Zarethan.
47 Ces objets étaient si nombreux que l’on ne pouvait calculer la quantité de bronze qu’on avait utilisée.	47 Solomon did not weigh all the articles because they were so numerous; the weight of the bronze, therefore, was not determined.

51 Avec cela se terminèrent les travaux que le roi Salomon avait entrepris pour la Maison de Yahvé. Salomon fit amener tout ce que son père David avait donné et consacré, l’or, l’argent et les vases, et il déposa le tout dans le trésor de la Maison de Yahvé.	51 When all the work undertaken by King Solomon in the temple of the LORD was completed, he brought in the dedicated offerings of his father David, putting the silver, gold, and other articles in the treasuries of the temple of the LORD.
