1 Siate seguitatori di Dio (e andate dopo) sì come figliuoli carissimi.	1 Therefore, as most beloved sons, be imitators of God.
2 E andate per la via dell' amore, sì come Cristo amò noi, e diede sè medesimo per noi, offerta e ostia a Dio in odore di soavità.	2 And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and delivered himself for us, as an oblation and a sacrifice to God, with a fragrance of sweetness.
3 Ma fornicazione e ogni sozzura e avarizia non sia nominata intra voi, sì come si conviene alli santi.	3 But let not any kind of fornication, or impurity, or rapacity so much as be named among you, just as is worthy of the saints,
4 E ancora sozze parole e stolte e novelle di peccato, le quali non s' appartengono alla salute (non siano dette intra voi); ma maggiormente sia (intra voi) rendimento di grazie (a Dio).	4 nor any indecent, or foolish, or abusive talk, for this is without purpose; but instead, give thanks.
5 E questo sappiate, intendendo (queste cose) che ogni fornicatore, ovver quel che è sozzo (d' altro peccato carnale) ovver avaro, la qual cosa è secondo la servitù delli idoli, tutti questi non hanno eredità nel regno di Dio.	5 For know and understand this: no one who is a fornicator, or lustful, or rapacious (for these are a kind of service to idols) holds an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Niuno inganni con parole vane; chè per queste cose verrà l'ira di Dio intra coloro che non son fedeli.	6 Let no one seduce you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God was sent upon the sons of unbelief.
7 Adunque non vi fate parcenevoli di costoro.	7 Therefore, do not choose to become participants with them.
8 Chè voi in qua dietro foste tenebre, e ora siete luce nel Signore. Andate secondo che figliuoli della luce.	8 For you were darkness, in times past, but now you are light, in the Lord. So then, walk as sons of the light.
9 Imperò che il frutto della luce è con ogni bontà e giustizia e verità.	9 For the fruit of the light is in all goodness and justice and truth,
10 E provando qual cosa sia ben piacevole a Dio,	10 affirming what is well-pleasing to God.
11 non vi raunate all' opere delle tenebre, che son senza frutto; anzi maggiormente le riprendete (quando le vedete fare).	11 And so, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead, refute them.
12 E quelle cose le quali fanno li peccatori occultamente, sozza cosa saranno a dire.	12 For the things that are done by them in secret are shameful, even to mention.
13 Tutte le cose, che si riprendono, da lume si manifestano; e ogni cosa, che si manifesta, sì è lume.	13 But all things that are disputed are made manifest by the light. For all that is made manifest is light.
14 Per la qual cosa dice (la scrittura): 0 che dormi, lèvati e resuscita della morte, e Cristo ti averà a illuminare.	14 Because of this, it is said: “You who are sleeping: awaken, and rise up from the dead, and so shall the Christ enlighten you.”
15 Adunque vedete, fratelli, come voi andiate con guardia, e non secondo che non savi,	15 And so, brothers, see to it that you walk cautiously, not like the foolish,
16 [ma secondo che savi], ricomperando il tempo (e riconquistandolo), imperò che li dì son rei.	16 but like the wise: atoning for this age, because this is an evil time.
17 E imperò non diventiate stolti; anzi siate intenti a sapere qual sia la volontà di Dio (buona e bene piacente e perfetta).	17 For this reason, do not choose to be imprudent. Instead, understand what is the will of God.
18 E non vi inebriate di vino, nel qual è lussuria; ma riempietevi del Spirito Santo,	18 And do not choose to be inebriated by wine, for this is self-indulgence. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,
19 parlando intra voi medesimi con salmi e inni e cantici spirituali, cantando, e referendo grazie a Dio nelli vostri cuori;	19 speaking among yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual canticles, singing and reciting psalms to the Lord in your hearts,
20 sempre referendo grazie per tutti, nel nome del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo.	20 giving thanks always for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God the Father.
21 Siate insieme soggetti l'uno all' altro nel timore di Iesù Cristo.	21 Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.
22 Le femine siano soggette a' loro mariti, secondo che al Signore.	22 Wives should be submissive to their husbands, as to the Lord.
23 Perchè l'uomo è capo della femina, sì come Cristo capo della Chiesa; chè egli è salvatore del suo corpo.	23 For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church. He is the Savior of his body.
24 E secondo che la Chiesa è soggetta a Cristo, così le mogliere a' loro mariti in tutte le cose.	24 Therefore, just as the Church is subject to Christ, so also should wives be subject to their husbands in all things.
25 Voi, mariti, amate le vostre mogliere, sì come Cristo amò la Chiesa, e sè. medesimo diede per lei.	25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and handed himself over for her,
26 E per ch' ella fosse santificata, sì la nettò coll' acqua del battesimo e con la parola della vita.	26 so that he might sanctify her, washing her clean by water and the Word of life,
27 E diede sè medesimo a lei (sua mogliere la) Chiesa gloriosa, la qual non ha macula nè ruga nè sozzura alcuna; ma vuole che sia santa e pura.	27 so that he might offer her to himself as a glorious Church, not having any spot or wrinkle or any such thing, so that she would be holy and immaculate.
28 E in questo [modo] debbeno li uomini amare le loro mogliere, sì come loro corpo; chè chi ama la sua mogliere, ama sè medesimo.	28 So, too, husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
29 E persona niuna ebbe in odio per niuno tempo la sua carne; anzi la nutrica e governala, come Cristo fa la Chiesa.	29 For no man has ever hated his own flesh, but instead he nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ also does to the Church.
30 Chè noi siamo membra del suo corpo, e ossa delle sue ossa, e carne della sua carne.	30 For we are a part of his body, of his flesh and of his bones.
31 E per questa cosa abbandonerà l'uomo il padre e la madre sua, e accosterassi alla sua mogliere; e saranno due in una carne.	31 “For this reason, a man shall leave behind his father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife; and the two shall be as one flesh.”
32 Questo sacramento (del matrimonio) è grande; e io dico in Cristo e nella Chiesa.	32 This is a great Sacrament. And I am speaking in Christ and in the Church.
33 Veramente e voi ciascuno ami la sua mogliere come sè medesimo; e la mogliere tema il suo marito.	33 Yet truly, each and every one of you should love his wife as himself. And a wife should fear her husband.
