Deuteronomio 11

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Adunque ama Iddio tuo Signore, e serva (e fa) i suoi comandamenti e le sue osservanze e li suoi giudicii d'ogni tempo.	1 'You must love Yahweh your God and always keep his observances, his laws, his customs, hiscommandments.
2 Sappiate oggi e cognoscete quelle cose le quali non sanno i vostri figliuoli, i quali non vidono la disciplina (e l'ammaestramento) di Dio vostro Signore, e le sue cose grandi, e la mano forte, e il suo braccio potente,	2 You are the ones who have had the experience, not your children. They have not had the experience,they have not witnessed the lessons of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretchedarm,
3 e i segni e le cose le quali fece, nel mezzo d'Egitto, a Faraone e a tutta la terra sua,	3 the signs and the deeds which he performed in the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh king of Egypt andhis entire country,
4 e a tutto quanto l'oste degli Egizii, e alli cavalieri e alli carri (di legno); come l'acqua del mare rosso tutti gli coperse (e uccise), quando loro vi perseguitavano; e (ricordatevi) siccome Iddio gli spense (e si gli ha morti) insino al presente die.	4 what he did to the armies of Egypt, to their horses and their chariots, by overwhelming them with thewaters of the Sea of Reeds when they were pursuing you, and leaving no trace of them to this day;
5 E ricordatevi quello ch' egli fece a voi nel deserto, insino a tanto che fossi venuto d'insino a questo luogo;	5 what he did for you in the desert, until you arrived here;
6 come Datan e Abiron, figliuoli di Eliab, quali tutti quanti, aprendosi la terra, sì gl'inghiottio con tutte le loro case (e trabacche) e tabernacoli, e con tutte le loro ricchezze le quali avea nel mezzo d'Israel.	6 what he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when, with al Israel standinground, the earth opened its mouth and swal owed them, with their families, their tents and al their supporters.
7 Li vostri occhii vidono tutti quanti i grandi fatti di Dio, i quali fece,	7 Al these great deeds of Yahweh you have seen with your own eyes.
8 acciò che voi guardiate (e facciate e osser viate) tutti i suoi comandamenti, i quali io vi comando oggi, acciò che voi possiate entrare, e possediate (e abitiate) la terra alla quale anderete,	8 'You must keep al the commandments which I enjoin on you today, so that you may have the strengthto conquer the country into which you are about to cross, to take possession of it,
9 e possiate molto tempo vivere in entro; la quale per giuramento e per promissione di Dio, fatta a' vostri padri, promisi di dare, e ai loro figliuoli, terra che mena latte e miele.	9 and so that you may live long in the country which Yahweh promised on oath to bestow on yourancestors and their descendants, a country flowing with milk and honey.
10 Imperò che la terra, alla quale tu (andrai ed) entrerai a possedere, non è come la terra d'Egitto; dove l'acque sono menate per forza per inaffiare, siccome è usanza di fare negli orti.	10 'For the country which you are about to enter and make your own is not like the country of Egyptfrom which you have come, where, having done your sowing, you had to water the seed by foot, as though in avegetable garden.
11 Ma quelle terre sono montuose e piane, e aspettano l'acque che vengono dal cielo e la piova;	11 No, the country which you are about to enter and make your own, is a country of hills and val eyswatered by the rain of heaven.
12 la quale Iddio tuo Signore sempre ragguarda; i suoi occhi sempre sono sopra lei, dal principio dell' anno insino alla fine.	12 Yahweh your God looks after this country, the eyes of Yahweh your God are always on it, from thebeginning of the year to the end.
13 Adunque se voi sarete obbedienti alli miei comandamenti, i quali oggi vi comando, che voi amiate Iddio, vostro Signore, e sì gli serviate con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l'anima vostra,	13 Depend on it: if you faithfully obey the commandments I enjoin on you today, loving Yahweh yourGod and serving him with al your heart and al your soul,
14 egli darà la piova (e l'acqua) alla vostra terra, nel tempo e nella stagione sua, acciò che voi raccogliate il grano, il vino, [l'olio],	14 I shal give your country rain at the right time, rain in autumn, rain in spring, so that you can harvestyour wheat, your new wine and your oil.
15 e lo fieno de' campi per pascere i vostri animali, e acciò che voi mangiate, e sì vi satoriate.	15 I shal provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat to your heart's content.
16 Guardatevi ne per ventura il vostro cuore sie ingannato e partiatevi da Dio e serviate agli dii altrui, e sì gli adoriate,	16 Beware of letting your heart be seduced: if you go astray, serve other gods and bow down to them,
17 e Iddio, adirato (e turbato), serri il cielo, e non vegnano giuso le piove (dell' acqua), e [la terra ] non dia il frutto suo (ancora), e vegnate meno subitamente dalla terra ottima (e bona) la quale Iddio vi dee dare.	17 Yahweh's anger wil be kindled against you, he wil shut the heavens, there wil be no more rain, thesoil wil not yield its produce and, in the fine country given you by Yahweh, you wil quickly perish.
18 Ponete queste parole ne' vostri cuori e nelli vostri animi, e sì le vi appiattate dentro per segni (e ancora) alle vostre mani, e ponetele dinanzi alli vostri occhii.	18 'Let these words of mine remain in your heart and in your soul; fasten them on your hand as a signand on your forehead as a headband.
19 Insegnate (e ammaestrate) i vostri figliuoli, cioè che loro vi pensino suso, cioè quando tu ti se derai nella casa tua, e quando anderai per la via, e quando ti riposerai, e quando ti leverai.	19 Teach them to your children, and keep on tel ing them, when you are sitting at home, when you areout and about, when you are lying down and when you are standing up.
20 E fa che tu le scriva sopra il sogliaio (dell' uscio e) delle porte della casa tua,	20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
21 acciò che (crescano e) moltiplichinsi i dì tuoi e de' tuoi figliuoli, nella terra la quale Iddio giuroe (e promise) di dare alli padri tuoi, e che la darebbe loro insino che il cielo istà sopra la terra.	21 so that you and your children may live long in the country which Yahweh swore to your ancestorsthat he would give them for as long as there is a sky above the earth.
22 Onde se voi guardate (e osservate) i comandamenti, li quali io vi comando, e se gli farete, cioè che voi amate Iddio vostro Signore, e andate per tutte quante le vie accostandovi a lui,	22 'For if you faithful y keep and observe al these commandments that I enjoin on you today, lovingYahweh your God, following all his ways and holding fast to him,
23 Iddio scaccerà e ispegnerà tutte queste genti (prave) dinanzi dalla faccia vostra, e sì gli soggiogherete; li quali sono maggiori e più forti di voi.	23 Yahweh wil dispossess al these nations before you, and you wil dispossess nations greater andmore powerful than yourselves.
24 E ogni luogo, dovunque voi porrete il vostro piede, sarà vostro: dal deserto e dal Libano, e da quello grande fiume Eufrate, insino al mare occidentale (dove il sole tramonta) saranno i vostri termini (e confini).	24 Wherever the sole of your foot treads wil be yours; your territory will run from the desert al the wayto the Lebanon; and from the River, from the River Euphrates, as far as the Western Sea, wil be your territory.
25 Nulla persona potrà istare (nè apparere) di nanzi a voi; Iddio darà (e metterà) la vostra paura, e farà isbigottire e tremare di voi tutta la terra la quale dovete calcare (e andare sopra essa co' piedi vostri), sì come egli vi disse (e favello).	25 No one wil be able to resist you; Yahweh your God will make you feared and dreaded throughout theterritory you tread, as he has promised you.
26 (Certo,) ecco ch' io (dico e) propongo dinanzi a voi la maledizione e la benedizione.	26 'Today, look, I am offering you a blessing and a curse:
27 La benedizione averete, quando voi (farete e) obbedirete i suoi comandamenti.	27 a blessing, if you obey the commandments of Yahweh your God which I enjoin on you today;
28 La maledizione, se voi non obbedirete al comandamento di Dio, vostro Signore, il quale io vi comandai. Ma non andate dietro agli dii altrui, li quali non conoscete; (però che incontanente sarete maledetti da Dio vostro Signore).	28 a curse, if you disobey the commandments of Yahweh your God and leave the way which today Ihave marked out for you, by following other gods hitherto unknown to you.
29 Quando Iddio, tuo Signore, t'avrà menato e messo nella terra, alla quale tu vai ad (entrare e possedere e) abitare, porrai la benedizione (che Iddio t hae data) in su il monte di Garizim (cioè quivi ti ricorda del suo comandamento e di quello che t ha detto e promesso), e la maledizione in sul monte di Ebal.	29 And when Yahweh your God has brought you into the country which you are about to enter andmake your own, you must set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.
30 I quali monti sono di là dal Giordano, per la via che va dove tramonta il sole, nella terra dei Cananei i quali abitano nei piani verso Galgala, la quale è appo una valle la quale declina ed entra dalla lunga.	30 (These mountains, as everyone knows, are on the other side of the Jordan on the westward road, inthe territory of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, near the Oak of Moreh.)
31 Voi sì passerete il fiume) Giordano, acció che possiate abitare la terra la quale Iddio vostro Signore vi darà, acciò che l'abbiate e possediate.	31 For you are about to cross the Jordan, to enter and take possession of the country given you byYahweh your God. You wil possess it, you wil live in it,
32 Adunque guardate che voi (facciate e) piena mente servate le osservanze e i giudicii, li quali io pongo oggi dinanzi a voi.	32 and you must keep and observe al the laws and customs promulgated by me to you today.'
