BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Al Signore confessate, e invocate il nome suo; raccontate tra le genti l'opere sue.	1 Bless Yahweh, my soul, Yahweh, my God, how great you are! Clothed in majesty and splendour,
2 Cantatelo e laudatelo; narrate tutte le maraviglie sue.	2 wearing the light as a robe! You stretch out the heavens like a tent,
3 Laudatevi nel nome santo suo; rallegrisi il cuore delli cercanti il Signore.	3 build your palace on the waters above, making the clouds your chariot, gliding on the wings of thewind,
4 Cercate il Signore e confessateli; sempre cercate la faccia sua.	4 appointing the winds your messengers, flames of fire your servants.
5 Ricordatevi delle sue maraviglie, che ha fatto; li suoi segnali e gli giudicii della bocca sua.	5 You fixed the earth on its foundations, for ever and ever it shal not be shaken;
6 Del seme di Abraam, servo suo; del figliuolo di Iacob, eletto suo.	6 you covered it with the deep like a garment, the waters overtopping the mountains.
7 Egli è il Signore Iddio nostro; in tutta la terra sono li giudicii suoi.	7 At your reproof the waters fled, at the voice of your thunder they sped away,
8 Sempre si ha ricordato del testamento suo; della parola che lui ha comandato in mille generazioni;	8 flowing over mountains, down val eys, to the place you had fixed for them;
9 il quale ordinò ad Abraam; e del giuramento fece ad Isaac.	9 you made a limit they were not to cross, they were not to return and cover the earth.
10 E quello ordinò a Iacob in comandamento, e a Israel in promissione eterna,	10 In the ravines you opened up springs, running down between the mountains,
11 dicendo: darotti la terra di Canaan, in divisione della vostra eredità.	11 supplying water for al the wild beasts; the wild asses quench their thirst,
12 Essendo gli suoi abitatori di piccolo numero, e pochissimi,	12 on their banks the birds of the air make their nests, they sing among the leaves.
13 e' passorono di gente in gente, e dal regno a uno altro popolo.	13 From your high hal s you water the mountains, satisfying the earth with the fruit of your works:
14 Non lasciò nocerli all' uomo; e per loro castigò li re.	14 for cattle you make the grass grow, and for people the plants they need, to bring forth food from theearth,
15 Non vogliate toccare li cristi miei; e nei miei profeti non vogliate malignare.	15 and wine to cheer people's hearts, oil to make their faces glow, food to make them sturdy of heart.
16 E chiamò la fame sopra la terra; e spezzò ogni firmamento di pane.	16 The trees of Yahweh drink their fill, the cedars of Lebanon which he sowed;
17 Mandò dinanzi a loro l'uomo; in servo fu venduto Iosef.	17 there the birds build their nests, on the highest branches the stork makes its home;
18 Isbassorono li suoi piedi ne' ceppi; il ferro trapassò l'anima sua,	18 for the wild goats there are the mountains, in the crags the coneys find refuge.
19 insino che venisse la parola sua. Il parlare del Signore infiammò quello;	19 He made the moon to mark the seasons, the sun knows when to set.
20 mandò il re, e sciolselo; il principe de' popoli, e lasciò lui.	20 You bring on darkness, and night fal s, when al the forest beasts roam around;
21 Ordinollo in signore della casa sua; e principe di tutta la possessione sua;	21 young lions roar for their prey, asking God for their food.
22 acciò che ammaestrasse gli suoi principi come sè stesso; e alli suoi vecchi insegnasse prudenza.	22 The sun rises and away they steal, back to their lairs to lie down,
23 E Israel entrò in Egitto; e Iacob fu peregrino nella terra di Cam.	23 and man goes out to work, to labour til evening falls.
24 E accrescette il popolo suo molto; e quello firmò sopra li suoi nemici.	24 How countless are your works, Yahweh, al of them made so wisely! The earth is ful of yourcreatures.
25 Convertì loro cuore, per che odiasse il popolo suo, e facesse inganno ne' servi suoi.	25 Then there is the sea, with its vast expanses teeming with countless creatures, creatures both greatand smal ;
26 Mandò Moisè servo suo; Aaron che ha eletto.	26 there ships pass to and fro, and Leviathan whom you made to sport with.
27 Ne' quali puose le parole de' segni suoi, e delle maraviglie nella terra di Cam.	27 They al depend upon you, to feed them when they need it.
28 Mandò le tenebre, e scurogli; e non adempì li suoi parlari.	28 You provide the food they gather, your open hand gives them their fil .
29 Loro acque convertì in sangue; e uccise loro pesci.	29 Turn away your face and they panic; take back their breath and they die and revert to dust.
30 E loro terra dette le rane nelle camere secrete delli re loro.	30 Send out your breath and life begins; you renew the face of the earth.
31 Disse, e venne la mosca canina; e le mosche piccoline in tutti li suoi confini.	31 Glory to Yahweh for ever! May Yahweh find joy in his creatures!
32 Puose loro pioggie in tempesta; nella loro terra il fuoco ardente.	32 At his glance the earth trembles, at his touch the mountains pour forth smoke.
33 E percosse loro vigne e loro fichi; e spezzò il legno de' suoi confini.	33 I shal sing to Yahweh al my life, make music for my God as long as I live.
34 Disse, e venne la locusta, e loro figliuoli, de' quali non era numero.	34 May my musings be pleasing to him, for Yahweh gives me joy.
35 Egli mangiò il fieno nella loro terra; e mangid ogni frutto della loro terra.	35 May sinners vanish from the earth, and the wicked exist no more! Bless Yahweh, my soul.
36 E percosse ogni primogenito nella loro terra; le primizie di [ogni] loro fatica.
37 E menolli fuori con argento e auro; e nelle loro tribù non era infermo.
38 Rallegrossi l'Egitto nel loro partimento; per che sopra loro giacque il loro timore.
39 Spargette la nube in loro defensione, e il fuoco acciò a loro lucesse nella notte.
40 Addimandorono, e venne la coturnice; e satollolli del pane del cielo.
41 Spezzò la pietra, e corsero le acque; andarono li fiumi per il secco.
42 Però che si arricordò della parola santa sua, ch' ebbe con Abraam servo suo.
43 E menò il suo popolo con allegrezza, e' suoi eletti con letizia.
44 E a loro dètte le regioni delle genti; e possedettero le fatiche de' popoli;
45 acciò osservino le giustificazioni sue, e cerchino la legge sua.
