1 (Salmo di David). Tripudiate, o giusti nel Signore, chè ai retti di cuore s'addice il lodarlo.	1 A Psalm of David. Exult in the Lord, you just ones; together praise the upright.
2 Celebrate il Signore sulla cetra, a lui salmeggiate con arpa da dieci corde.	2 Confess to the Lord with stringed instruments; sing psalms to him with the psaltery, the instrument of ten strings.
3 Cantategli un nuovo cantico, accompagnando con arte il vostro coro.	3 Sing to him a new song. Sing psalms to him skillfully, with loud exclamation.
4 Perchè la parola del Signore è retta, e tutto il suo operare è nella lealtà.	4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his works are in faith.
5 Ama la misericordia e la giustizia: della misericordia del Signore è piena la terra.	5 He loves mercy and judgment. The earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.
6 Dalla parola del Signore furon creati i cieli, dal soffio della sua bocca venne tutta la loro potenza.	6 By the word of the Lord, the heavens were established, and all their power, by the Spirit of his mouth:
7 Egli raccoglie come in un otre le acque del mare, e pone nei serbatoi gli abissi.	7 gathering together the waters of the sea, as if in a container, placing the depths in storage.
8 Tutta la terra tema il Signore, tremino dinanzi a lui gli abitatori del mondo.	8 Let all the earth fear the Lord, and may all the inhabitants of the world quake before him.
9 Perchè Egli parlò e le cose furon fatte, comandò e furon create.	9 For he spoke, and they became. He commanded, and they were created.
10 Il Signore manda in fumo i disegni delle nazioni, riprova i pensieri dei popoli, scarta i consigli dei principi.	10 The Lord scatters the counsels of the nations. Moreover, he reproves the thoughts of the people, and he rejects the counsels of the leaders.
11 Ma i disegni di Dio rimangono in eterno, e i pensieri del suo cuore per tutte le generazioni.	11 But the counsel of the Lord remains for eternity, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
12 Felice la nazione che ha il Signore per suo Dio, il popolo che Egli si è scelto come suo retaggio.	12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his inheritance.
13 Il Signore guarda dal cielo, mira tutti i figli degli uomini:	13 The Lord has looked down from heaven. He has seen all the sons of men.
14 Dalla dimora che s'è preparata osserva tutti quelli che abitan la terra,	14 From his well-prepared dwelling place, he has gazed upon all who dwell on the earth.
15 Egli, che ha formati ad uno ad uno i loro cuori, e conosce tutte le loro opere.	15 He has formed the hearts of each one of them; he understands all their works.
16 Il re non trova salvezza in numerosi eserciti, il gigante non la trova nella sua gran forza:	16 The king is not saved by great power, nor will the giant be saved by his many powers.
17 Inutile per salvarsi il cavallo: con tutta la sua gagliardia non sarà salvo.	17 The horse is false safety; for he will not be saved by the abundance of his powers.
18 Ecco, gli occhi del Signore sopra quelli che lo temono, che sperano nella sua misericordia.	18 Behold, the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him and on those who hope in his mercy,
19 Per liberare le loro anime dalla morte e sostentarli in tempo di fame.	19 so as to rescue their souls from death and to feed them during famine.
20 L'anima nostra aspetta con pazienza il Signore, perchè Egli è nostro aiuto e nostro protettore;	20 Our soul remains with the Lord. For he is our helper and protector.
21 In lui si rallegra il nostro cuore; nel suo santo nome poniamo la nostra speranza.	21 For in him, our heart will rejoice, and in his holy name, we have hoped.
22 O Signore, venga sopra di noi la tua misericordia, secondo la speranza che in Te abbiamo avuta.	22 Let your mercy be upon us, O Lord, just as we have hoped in you.
