1 Or avvenne in quel tempo che Amrafel re di Sennaar, e Arioc re di Ponto, e Codorlaomor re degli Elamiti, e Tadal re delle Genti	1 When Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king ofthe Goiim,
2 mossero guerra a Bara re di Sodoma, a Bersa re di Gomorra, a Sennaab re di Adama, a Semeber re di Seboim e al re di Baia o Segor.	2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king ofZeboi m, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar),

10 Or la valle dei Boschi aveva molti pozzi di bitume, e i re di Sodoma e di Gomorra si diedero alla fuga e vi caddero dentro, e quelli che si salvarono fuggirono alla montagna.	10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.
11 E (i vincitori) presero tutte le ricchezze di Sodoma e di Gomorra e tutti i viveri, e se ne andarono;	11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.
12 presero anche Lot, figlio del fratello di Abramo, che abitava in Sodoma, e tutte le sue sostanze.	12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.
13 Ed uno degli scampati raccontò l'accaduto ad Abramo Ebreo, che abitava nella valle di Mambre Amorreo, fratello di Escol e di Aner, i quali s'eran confederati con Abramo.	13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.
14 E Abramo, come ebbe sentito che Lot suo fratello era stato fatto prigioniero, scelse trecentodiciotto tra i migliori servi nati in casa, e inseguì (i nemici) fino a Dan.	14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.
15 E, divise le schiere, li assalì di notte tempo, e li sbaragliò, e l'inseguì fino ad Hoba, che è a sinistra di Damasco.	15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.
16 E ricuperò tutta la roba, e Lot suo fratello con tutto ciò che gli apparteneva, e anche le donne e il popolo.	16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.
17 E quando egli tornò dalla sconfitta di Codorlaomor e dei re che erano con lui, il re di Sodoma gli andò incontro nella valle di Save, che è la valle del re.	17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).
18 E Melchisedec re di Salern, offrendo del pane e del vino, chè era sacerdote dell'Altissimo Dio,	18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.
19 lo benedisse, dicendo: «Benedetto sia Abramo dall'Altissimo Iddio che creò il cielo e la terra,	19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.
20 e benedetto l'Altissimo Dio, per la cui protezione i nemici sono caduti in tuo potere ». E Abramo gli diede la decima di tutto.	20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
21 E il re di Sodoma disse ad Abramo: « Dammi le persone e prendi per te il resto ».	21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'
22 Ma Abramo gli rispose: « Alzo la mia mano al Signore Dio Altissimo, padrone del cielo e della terra;	22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:
23 di ciò che è tuo non prenderò nè un fil di trama, nè un legaccio di sandali, perchè tu non abbia a dire poi: « Ho arricchito Abramo ».	23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."
24 Nulla, tolto quello che hanno mangiato i giovani e le porzioni degli uomini che son venuti meco: Aner, Escol e Mambre: prendano essi la loro parte ».	24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'
