1 And when Balaam had seen that it was pleasing to the Lord that he should bless Israel, he by no means went out as he had gone before, to seek divination. But directing his face opposite the desert,	1 Ma veggendo Balaam, come era di piacimento del Signore, che egli benedicesse Israele, nonandò più come per l'avanti a cercare augurio, ma volgendo il suo sguardo al deserto,
2 and lifting up his eyes, he saw Israel dwelling in tents by their tribes. And with the Spirit of God rushing into him,	2 E alzati gli occhi, vide Israele, che se ne stava sotto le sue tende diviso nelle sue tribù:ed entrato in lui lo spirito di Dio,
3 taking up his parable, he said: “Balaam, the son of Beor, the man whose eye has been obstructed,	3 Preso il suo tuono, disse: Parola di Balaam figliuolo di Beor: parola di quell'uomo, che hachiuso l'occhio:
4 the hearer of the sermon of God, he who has gazed upon a vision of the Almighty, he who falls down and so his eyes are opened, has declared:	4 Parola di colui, che udì i parlari di Dio, che ha vedute visioni dell'Onnipotente, di lui,che cade, e così apre gli occhi:
5 ‘How beautiful are your tabernacles, O Jacob, and your tents, O Israel!	5 Quanto belli sono i tuoi padiglioni, o Giacobbe, e le tue tende, o Israele!
6 They are like forested valleys, like gardens irrigated next to rivers, like tabernacles which the Lord has fixed, like cedars close to waters.	6 Come valli selvose, come orti presso ad un fiume, che li rinfresca, come i tabernacolipiantali dal Signore, come cedri vicini all'acque.
7 Water shall flow from his jar, and his offspring shall be amid many waters, because Agag, his king, shall be taken, and his kingdom shall be removed.	7 La sua secchia getterà acqua, e la sua stirpe crescerà in grandi acque. Il suo re saràrigettato a causa di Agag, e sarà a lui tolto il reame.
8 Away from Egypt, God has led him, whose strength is like the rhinoceros. They shall devour the nations that are his enemies, and break their bones, and pierce them with arrows.	8 Dio lo ha tratto fuor dell'Egitto, e la fortezza di lui è come quella del rinoceronte. Eidivorerà le genti, che gli sono nemiche, e spezzerà le loro ossa, e le trafiggerà collesaette.
9 Lying down, he has slept like a lion, and like a lioness, whom no one would dare to awaken. He who blesses you, shall himself also be blessed. He who curses you, shall be considered cursed.”	9 Si è sdraiato, e dorme come un lione, e come una lionessa, cui nissuno avrà ardir disvegliare. Chi ti benedirà, sarà egli pure benedetto: e chi ti maledirà, sarà tenuto per,maledetto.
10 And Balak, being angry against Balaam, clapped his hands together and said: “I called you to curse my enemies, and, to the contrary, you have blessed them three times.	10 Ma Balac sdegnato contro di Balaam, battendo mano con mano, disse: Io ti ho chiamato amaledire i miei nemici, e ormai per la terza volta tu gli hai benedetti:
11 Return to your place. I had decided, indeed, to honor you greatly, but the Lord has deprived you of the designated honor.”	11 Torna donde se' venuto. Io veramente avea stabilito di onorarti grandiosamente: ma ilSignore ti ha privato dell'onore, che ti era preparato.
12 Balaam responded to Balak: “Did I not say to your messengers, whom you sent to me:	12 Rispose Balaam a Balac: Non ho io detto a' nunzii, che tu mi mandasti:
13 Even if Balak would give me his house, filled with silver and gold, I still could not go away from the word of the Lord my God, so as to offer anything, either good or evil, from my own heart; but whatever the Lord will speak, this, too, I shall speak.	13 Quando Balac mi desse la sua casa piena d'argento e d'oro, non potrò io trasgredir la paroladel Signore Dio mio per cavar di mia testa qualche cosa di bene, o di male: ma dirò tuttoquello che avrà detto il Signore?
14 Yet truly, as I continue on to my own people, I will give you counsel as to what this people shall do to your people in the end times.”	14 Nulladimeno tornandomene a casa mia, darò consiglio di quel che abbia a fare alla fine iltuo popolo a questo popolo.
15 Therefore, taking up his parable, he again spoke: “Balaam the son of Beor, the man whose eye has been obstructed,	15 Profetando adunque di nuovo disse: Parola di Balaam figliuolo di Beor: parola di quell'uomo,che ha chiuso l'occhio:
16 the hearer of the sermon of God, he who knows the doctrine of the Most High, and who sees the visions of the Almighty, who, falling down, has his eyes opened, has declared:	16 Parola di lui, che ha udito i parlari di Dio, che sa la dottrina dell'Altissimo, e vede levisioni dell'Onnipotente, il quale cadendo aperse gli occhi.
17 I shall see him, but not presently. I shall gaze upon him, but not soon. A star shall rise out of Jacob, and a rod shall spring up from Israel. And he shall strike down the commanders of Moab, and he shall devastate all the sons of Seth.	17 Io lo vedrò, ma non ora: fisserò in lui lo sguardo, ma non da vicino: Di Giacobbe nasceràuna stella, e spunterà da Israele una verga, e percuoterà i capi di Moab, e rovinerà tutti ifigliuoli di Seth.
18 And he shall possess Idumea; the inheritance of Seir shall fall to their enemies. Yet truly, Israel shall act with strength.	18 E l'Idumea sarà suo dominio: l'eredità di Seir andrà a' suoi nemici: ma Israele si porteràcon fortezza.
19 From Jacob will be he who shall be ruler. And he shall perish the remnants of the city.”	19 Da Giacobbe verrà il dominatore, e sterminerà gli avanzi della città.
20 And when he saw Amalek, taking up his parable, he said: “Amalek, first among the Gentiles, whose very end shall be perdition.”	20 E gettato lo sguardo verso Amalec (Balaam) profetando disse: Amalec capo delle nazioni: ilsuo fine è lo sterminio.
21 Likewise, he saw the Kainites, and taking up his parable, he said: “Robust, indeed, is your habitation. But though you will set your nest in a rock,	21 Gettò anche lo sguardo verso il Cineo, e profetando disse: Forte è veramente la tua casa: maquando ponessi il tuo nido in un masso,
22 and you will be elect among the stock of Kain, how long will you be able to remain? For Assur shall take you captive.”	22 E fossi l'eletto della stirpe di Cin, per quanto tempo potrai tu sussistere? perocchéAssurti prenderà.
23 And taking up his parable once more he said: “Alas! Who will be able to survive, when God will do these things?	23 E profetando di nuovo disse: Ahi! chi sarà vivo, quando Dio farà queste cose?
24 They shall arrive in Greek warships from Italy. They shall overcome the Assyrians, and they shall devastate the Hebrews, and yet, at the very end, even they themselves shall perish.”	24 Verrà gente sulle navi dall'Italia, vincerà gli Assiri, e desolerà gli Ebrei, ed ella ancorfinalmente perirà.
25 And Balaam rose up, and he returned to his place. Likewise, Balak went back, along the way by which he had arrived.	25 E Balaam si alzò, e se ne tornò a casa sua: e anche Balac se ne andò per la strada, ond'eravenuto.
