Hosea 14

1 Let Samaria perish, because she has urged her God towards bitterness. Let them perish by the sword, let their little ones be thrown down, and let their pregnant women be cut in two.	1 Samaria espierà, perché si è ribellata al suo Dio; cadranno di spada, i loro bambini saranno sfracellati, e le loro donne incinte sventrate.
2 Israel, convert to the Lord your God. For you have been ruined by your own iniquity.	2 Ritorna, Israele, al Signore, tuo Dio, perché sei caduto per i tuoi peccati.
3 Take these words with you and return to the Lord. And say to him, “Remove all iniquity and accept the good. And we will repay the calves of our lips.	3 Preparate le parole da dire e tornate al Signore. Ditegli: "Perdona ogni iniquità! Fa' che ritroviamo la felicità e ti offriamo il frutto delle nostre labbra!
4 Assur will not save us; we will not ride on horses. Neither will we say any more, ‘The works of our hands are our gods,’ for those that are in you will have mercy on the orphan.”	4 Assur non ci salverà, non cavalcheremo più i cavalli e non diremo più "nostro Dio" all'opera delle nostre mani, poiché in te trova compassione l'orfano!".
5 I will heal their contrition; I will love them spontaneously. For my wrath has been turned away from them.	5 Io guarirò il loro traviamento, li amerò con trasporto; perché la mia collera si è ritirata da loro.
6 I will be like the dew; Israel will spring forth like the lily, and his root will spread out like that of the cedars of Lebanon.	6 Sarò come la rugiada per Israele, egli germoglierà come un giglio, getterà le sue radici come un pioppo,
7 His branches will advance, and his glory will be like the olive tree, and his fragrance will be like that of the cedars of Lebanon.	7 i suoi germogli si estenderanno lontano; la sua magnificenza sarà come quella dell'olivo, il suo profumo come quello del Libano.
8 They will be converted, sitting in his shadow. They will live on wheat, and they will grow like a vine. His memorial will be like the wine of the cedars of Lebanon.	8 Torneranno a sedersi alla mia ombra, coltiveranno il frumento e faranno fiorire la vigna che avrà la fama del vino del Libano.
9 Ephraim will say, “What are idols to me any more?” I will listen to him, and I will set him straight like a healthy spruce tree. Your fruit has been found by me.	9 Efraim che ha ancora in comune con gli idoli? Io lo esaudisco e a lui provvedo. Io sono come un cipresso verdeggiante; è grazie a me che in te si trovi frutto!
10 Who is wise and will understand this? Who has understanding and will know these things? For the ways of the Lord are straight, and the just will walk in them, but truly, the traitors will fall in them.	10 Chi è sapiente comprenda queste parole e l'intelligente le intenda! Perché le vie del Signore sono diritte; i giusti vi si incamminano, ma i malviventi vi inciampano!
