Leviticus 12

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	1 El Señor dijo a Moisés:
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: A woman, if she has received the seed to bear a male, shall be unclean for seven days, just as in the days of separation due to menstruation.	2 Habla en estos términos a los israelitas: Cuando una mujer quede embarazada y dé a luz un varón, será impura durante siete días, como lo es en el tiempo de su menstruación.
3 And on the eighth day, the little infant shall be circumcised.	3 Al octavo día será circuncidado el prepucio del niño,
4 Yet truly, she herself shall remain for thirty-three days in the blood of her purification. She shall not touch anything holy, nor shall she enter into the Sanctuary, until the days of her purification are completed.	4 pero ella deberá continuar purificándose de su sangre durante treinta y tres días más. No tocará ningún objeto consagrado ni irá al Santuario, antes de concluir el tiempo de su purificación.
5 But if she will bear a female, she shall be unclean for two weeks, according to the custom of her monthly flow, and she shall remain in the blood of her purification for sixty-six days.	5 Pero si da a luz una niña, será impura durante dos semanas, como lo es durante su menstruación, y deberá continuar purificándose de su sangre durante sesenta y seis días más.
6 And when the days of her purification have been completed, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, a one-year-old lamb as a holocaust, and a young pigeon or a turtledove for sin, and she shall deliver them to the priest.	6 Al concluir el período de su purificación, tanto por el hijo como por la hija, la madre presentará al sacerdote, a la entrada de la Carpa del Encuentro, un cordero de un año para ofrecer un holocausto, y un pichón de paloma o una torcaza, para ofrecerlos como sacrificio por el pecado.
7 He shall offer them in the sight of the Lord, and he shall pray for her. And so she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for one who bears a male or a female.	7 El sacerdote lo presentará delante del Señor y practicará el rito de expiación en favor de ella. Así quedará purificada de su pérdida de sangre. Este es el ritual concerniente a la mujer que da a luz un niño o una niña.
8 And if her hand has not obtained or been able to offer a lamb, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons: one as a holocaust, and the other for sin. And the priest shall pray for her, and so she shall be cleansed.	8 Y si no dispone de recursos suficientes para adquirir un cordero, tomará dos torcazas o dos pichones, uno para el holocausto y otro para el sacrificio por el pecado. El sacerdote realizará el rito de expiación en favor de ella, y así quedará purificada.
