1 From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle,	1 Paulo, servo di Cristo, chiamato apostolo, segregato per (predicare) l' evangelio di Dio,
2 set apart for the service of the gospel that God promised long ago through his prophets in the holyscriptures.	2 il quale egli inanzi aveva promesso per li suoi profeti nelle sante scritture,
3 This is the gospel concerning his Son who, in terms of human nature	3 (che parlano) del suo figliuolo, il qual è fatto a lui del seme di David secondo la carne;
4 was born a descendant of David and who, in terms of the Spirit and of holiness, was designated Son ofGod in power by resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ, our Lord,	4 egli fu predestinato Figliuolo di Dio nella virtù secondo il spirito di santificazione, della risurrezione de' morti, di Iesù Cristo nostro Signore;
5 through whom we have received grace and our apostolic mission of winning the obedience of faithamong all the nations for the honour of his name.	5 per il qual noi ricevemmo grazia e apostolato, a obbedire alla fede in tutte le genti per il suo nome;
6 You are among these, and by his cal you belong to Jesus Christ.	6 tra i quali voi siete chiamati di Iesù Cristo (nostro Signore);
7 To you al , God's beloved in Rome, cal ed to be his holy people. Grace and peace from God our Fatherand the Lord Jesus Christ.	7 (e questo dico) a tutti voi, che siete a Roma, amici di Dio, e chiamati santi; a voi sia grazia e pace da Dio padre, e dal Signor nostro Iesù Cristo.
8 First I give thanks to my God through Jesus Christ for al of you because your faith is talked of al overthe world.	8 Ma certo in prima referisco grazie a Dio per tutti voi, imperò che la vostra fede sia annunciata per tutto il mondo.
9 God, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness that I continuallymention you in my prayers,	9 E Dio ne sia mio testimonio, al qual io servo nel mio spirito nell' evangelio del suo Figliuolo, che io sempre faccio memoria di voi
10 asking always that by some means I may at long last be enabled to visit you, if it is God's will.	10 nelle mie orazioni, pregando che se per niuna guisa io alla fine potessi avere dritto viaggio, a venire a voi nella volontà di Dio.
11 For I am longing to see you so that I can convey to you some spiritual gift that will be a lastingstrength,	11 Certo desidero di vedervi, per partecipare a voi alcuna cosa della grazia spirituale per confermarvi;
12 or rather that we may be strengthened together through our mutual faith, yours and mine.	12 cioè ch' io con voi insieme mi possa consolare per quella fede, ch' è tra voi, insieme mia. e vostra.
13 I want you to be quite certain too, brothers, that I have often planned to visit you -- though up to thepresent I have always been prevented -- in the hope that I might work as fruitfully among you as I have amongthe gentiles elsewhere.	13 E voglio che voi sappiate, fratelli, che spesse volte mi ho proposto di venire a voi; e fummi vietato insino a qui; per avere alcuno frutto in voi secondo che nelle altre genti.
14 I have an obligation to Greeks as wel as barbarians, to the educated as wel as the ignorant,	14 Imperò che alli greci e barbari, ai savii e alli insipienti, son (fatto) debitore.
15 and hence the eagerness on my part to preach the gospel to you in Rome too.	15 E così [a] voi, che sete a Roma, prontamente desidero annunziarvi la parola di Dio.
16 For I see no reason to be ashamed of the gospel; it is God's power for the salvation of everyone whohas faith -- Jews first, but Greeks as well-	16 Chè io non ho vergogna di predicare l' evangelio, per la virtù di Dio, e con salute, a ognuno che crede, al iudeo in prima e al greco.
17 for in it is revealed the saving justice of God: a justice based on faith and addressed to faith. As itsays in scripture: Anyone who is upright through faith will live.	17 E per quello certamente è manifesta la giustizia di Dio di fede in fede, secondo ch' è scritto; ma il giusto vive per la fede.
18 The retribution of God from heaven is being revealed against the ungodliness and injustice of humanbeings who in their injustice hold back the truth.	18 Certo l' ira di Dio manifestasi dal cielo sopra ogni empietà e ingiustizia delli uomini di coloro che tengono la verità di Dio nella ingiustizia.
19 For what can be known about God is perfectly plain to them, since God has made it plain to them:	19 Imperò che quel ch' è cognoscibile di Dio, è manifesto in loro. Perchè Dio a quelli ha manifestato.
20 ever since the creation of the world, the invisible existence of God and his everlasting power havebeen clearly seen by the mind's understanding of created things. And so these people have no excuse:	20 Perchè le cose invisibili di Dio si cognoscono esser intese per quelle che son fatte nella creatura del mondo; etiam la virtù e la divinità sempiterna di Dio è sì manifesta, che non si possono escusare.
21 they knew God and yet they did not honour him as God or give thanks to him, but their argumentsbecame futile and their uncomprehending minds were darkened.	21 Chè (gli antichi vostri pagani) conciosia che eglino (non) cognoscero Dio, nollo glorificarono secondo che Dio, e non gli rendetteno grazie; anzi andarono vanamente secondo li loro pensieri, e il lor cuore diventò matto e oscuro.
22 While they claimed to be wise, in fact they were growing so stupid	22 E dicendo d'essere savii, sì diventarono pazzi.
23 that they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an imitation, for the image of a mortal humanbeing, or of birds, or animals, or crawling things.	23 E mutarono la gloria dell' incorruttibile Dio nella similitudine e imagine dell' uomo corruttibile, e (simiglianza) d' uccelli e di bestie e di serpenti.
24 That is why God abandoned them in their inmost cravings to filthy practices of dishonouring their ownbodies-	24 Per la qual cosa dètteli Dio ne' desiderii de' lor cuori e nella sozzura, acciò che con vituperii in sè stessi sì tormentino li lor corpi.
25 because they exchanged God's truth for a lie and have worshipped and served the creature insteadof the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.	25 Li quali mutarono la verità di Dio in bugia; e maggiormente venerarono e servettero alla creatura, che non fecero al creatore, il quale è (Dio) benedetto IN SECULA, AMEN.
26 That is why God abandoned them to degrading passions:	26 Per la qual cosa Dio li lasciò cadere ne' desiderii della vergogna; onde le loro femine mutarono i naturale uso in quello uso ch' è contra natura.
27 why their women have exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices; and the men, in asimilar fashion, too, giving up normal relations with women, are consumed with passion for each other, mendoing shameful things with men and receiving in themselves due reward for their perversion.	27 Simigliantemente e li loro maschi, abbandonato il naturale uso della femina, andarono nei loro desiderii, maschi con maschi insieme, operando la sozzura; e ricevettero in sè medesimi la mercede del suo errore.
28 In other words, since they would not consent to acknowledge God, God abandoned them to theirunacceptable thoughts and indecent behaviour.	28 E secondo ch' egli non provarono d' avere Dio in conoscimento, Dio li lasciò cadere in senso malvagio, acciò facciano quelle cose che non si convengono.
29 And so now they are steeped in al sorts of injustice, rottenness, greed and malice; full of envy,murder, wrangling, treachery and spite,	29 I quali son pieni d'ogni iniquità, di malizia e di fornicazione, d'avarizia e di iniquità; sono pieni d' invidia e di omicidio, di contenzione e d'inganno e di malizia; sono ancora mormoratori,
30 libel ers, slanderers, enemies of God, rude, arrogant and boastful, enterprising in evil, rebellious toparents,	30 (portatori di parole) detrattori; sono da Dio odiati, invidiosi, pieni d'altezza; son trovatori di mali, e non sono obbedienti al padre e alla madre.
31 without brains, honour, love or pity.	31 Son senza senno, uomini sconci, senza amore, senza patto, senza misericordia.
32 They are well aware of God's ordinance: that those who behave like this deserve to die -- yet they notonly do it, but even applaud others who do the same.	32 I quali, conciosia che conoscessero la giustizia [di Dio], non intesero che quelli che fanno queste cotali cose, son degni di morte; e non solamente coloro che le fanno, ma etiam coloro che vi consentono.
