1 From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle,	1 - Paolo, servo di Cristo Gesù, chiamato apostolo, e messo a parte per [annunziare] il Vangelo di Dio,
2 set apart for the service of the gospel that God promised long ago through his prophets in the holyscriptures.	2 ch'egli aveva innanzi promesso a mezzo dei suoi profeti nelle sante Scritture,
3 This is the gospel concerning his Son who, in terms of human nature	3 relativamente a suo Figlio, - nato dal seme di David secondo la carne,
4 was born a descendant of David and who, in terms of the Spirit and of holiness, was designated Son ofGod in power by resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ, our Lord,	4 ma dichiarato in modo potente Figlio di Dio, secondo lo spirito di santità, mediante la risurrezione dei morti, - Gesù Cristo il nostro Signore,
5 through whom we have received grace and our apostolic mission of winning the obedience of faithamong all the nations for the honour of his name.	5 per opera del quale noi abbiamo ricevuto la grazia e la missione di indurre, nel nome di Lui, all'obbedienza della fede tutti i Gentili,
6 You are among these, and by his cal you belong to Jesus Christ.	6 fra i quali ci siete anche voi, chiamati ad essere di Gesù Cristo,
7 To you al , God's beloved in Rome, cal ed to be his holy people. Grace and peace from God our Fatherand the Lord Jesus Christ.	7 a tutti quanti siete in Roma, amati da Dio, chiamati santi, grazia a voi e pace, da Dio nostro padre e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
8 First I give thanks to my God through Jesus Christ for al of you because your faith is talked of al overthe world.	8 Prima di tutto ringrazio il mio Dio a mezzo di Gesù Cristo a motivo di voi tutti, poichè la vostra fede si annunzia in tutto il mondo.
9 God, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness that I continuallymention you in my prayers,	9 Mi è testimone Iddio, a cui io rendo culto nel mio spirito propagando la buona novella relativa al Figlio di Lui, che non tralascio mai di far memoria di voi,
10 asking always that by some means I may at long last be enabled to visit you, if it is God's will.	10 chiedendo nelle mie preghiere se mai una buona volta, io possa, nella volontà di Dio, trovare l'occasione di venir da voi.
11 For I am longing to see you so that I can convey to you some spiritual gift that will be a lastingstrength,	11 Giacchè vivamente bramo di vedervi, per comunicarvi un po' di grazia spirituale, sì da esserne fortificati,
12 or rather that we may be strengthened together through our mutual faith, yours and mine.	12 o meglio, per essere, in mezzo a voi, insieme confortati per la reciproca fede vostra e mia.
13 I want you to be quite certain too, brothers, that I have often planned to visit you -- though up to thepresent I have always been prevented -- in the hope that I might work as fruitfully among you as I have amongthe gentiles elsewhere.	13 E non voglio ignoriate, o fratelli, che molte volte mi ero proposto di venir da voi, (e ne sono stato finora impedito), per raccogliere qualche frutto anche tra voi, come ho fatto tra gli altri Gentili.
14 I have an obligation to Greeks as wel as barbarians, to the educated as wel as the ignorant,	14 A Greci come a Barbari, a sapienti come ad ignoranti, io sono debitore;
15 and hence the eagerness on my part to preach the gospel to you in Rome too.	15 tanto è vivo il desiderio, (quanto a me) di annunziare il Vangelo anche a voi in Roma.
16 For I see no reason to be ashamed of the gospel; it is God's power for the salvation of everyone whohas faith -- Jews first, but Greeks as well-	16 Giacchè io non mi vergogno del Vangelo; chè esso è il potere di Dio per dar la salute a chi crede, al Giudeo prima poi al Greco;
17 for in it is revealed the saving justice of God: a justice based on faith and addressed to faith. As itsays in scripture: Anyone who is upright through faith will live.	17 giacchè vi si rivela la giustizia di Dio proveniente dalla fede e che conduce alla fede, conforme sta scritto: «Il giusto vive di fede».
18 The retribution of God from heaven is being revealed against the ungodliness and injustice of humanbeings who in their injustice hold back the truth.	18 Poichè l'ira di Dio si manifesta dal cielo contro ogni empietà e ingiustizia degli uomini, che soffocano la verità nell'ingiustizia;
19 For what can be known about God is perfectly plain to them, since God has made it plain to them:	19 infatti quel che si può conoscere di Dio è in essi manifesto; Dio stesso lo ha loro manifestato;
20 ever since the creation of the world, the invisible existence of God and his everlasting power havebeen clearly seen by the mind's understanding of created things. And so these people have no excuse:	20 poichè le perfezioni invisibili di Lui fin dalla creazione del mondo, comprendendosi dalle cose fatte, si rendono visibili, quali la sua eterna potenza e la sua divinità; laonde essi sono inescusabili,
21 they knew God and yet they did not honour him as God or give thanks to him, but their argumentsbecame futile and their uncomprehending minds were darkened.	21 perchè avendo conosciuto Iddio non l'hanno glorificato come Dio, nè l'hanno ringraziato; ma s'invanirono nei loro ragionamenti, e fu avvolto di tenebre il loro stolto cuore.
22 While they claimed to be wise, in fact they were growing so stupid	22 Dicendo di esser sapienti divennero stolti,
23 that they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an imitation, for the image of a mortal humanbeing, or of birds, or animals, or crawling things.	23 e scambiarono la gloria dell'incorruttibile Iddio nella riproduzione di un'immagine di corruttibile uomo, e di volatili e di quadrupedi e di rettili.
24 That is why God abandoned them in their inmost cravings to filthy practices of dishonouring their ownbodies-	24 Perciò li abbandonò Dio, nelle concupiscenze dei loro cuori, alla sconcezza del disonorare tra loro i loro corpi,
25 because they exchanged God's truth for a lie and have worshipped and served the creature insteadof the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.	25 essi che scambiarono la verità di Dio con la menzogna, e venerarono e resero culto alla creatura invece che al Creatore, il quale è benedetto ne' secoli, così sia!
26 That is why God abandoned them to degrading passions:	26 Per questo li abbandonò Iddio a passioni d'infamia, poichè le loro femmine scambiarono l'uso naturale in quello contro natura:
27 why their women have exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices; and the men, in asimilar fashion, too, giving up normal relations with women, are consumed with passion for each other, mendoing shameful things with men and receiving in themselves due reward for their perversion.	27 e similmente i maschi, lasciato l'uso naturale della donna, si accesero nel desiderio gli uni degli altri, atti turpi operando maschi con maschi, e ricevendo in se stessi la mercede che si conveniva della loro aberrazione.
28 In other words, since they would not consent to acknowledge God, God abandoned them to theirunacceptable thoughts and indecent behaviour.	28 E poichè non si diedero cura di conoscere Dio, li abbandonò Iddio ai reprobi sentimenti: far ciò che non si deve,
29 And so now they are steeped in al sorts of injustice, rottenness, greed and malice; full of envy,murder, wrangling, treachery and spite,	29 ripieni d'ogni ingiustizia, malvagità, fornicazione, avidità, malizia; pieni d'invidia, di omicidio, di contesa, d'inganno, di malignità; sussurroni,
30 libel ers, slanderers, enemies of God, rude, arrogant and boastful, enterprising in evil, rebellious toparents,	30 maldicenti, in odio a Dio, violenti, superbi, millantatori, inventori di male azioni, disobbedienti ai genitori,
31 without brains, honour, love or pity.	31 insensati, disamorati, sleali, incapaci di sentir compassione;
32 They are well aware of God's ordinance: that those who behave like this deserve to die -- yet they notonly do it, but even applaud others who do the same.	32 i quali, pur avendo conosciuto la giusta sentenza di Dio, che chi fa tali cose è degno di morte, non solo le fanno, ma approvano chi le fa.
