Deuteronomy 32

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 Listen, heavens, while I speak; hear, earth, the words that I shal say!	1 Ouvi, ó céus, o que vou dizer, ouça a terra as palavras da minha boca!
2 May my teaching fal like the rain, may my word drop down like the dew, like showers on the grass,like light rain on the turf!	2 Derrame-se como a chuva a minha doutrina, espalhe-se como orvalho a minha palavra, aguaceiros sobre a erva, e como gotas de água sobre a verdura,
3 For I shal proclaim the name of Yahweh. Oh, tell the greatness of our God!	3 porque eu invocarei o nome do Senhor. Dai glória ao nosso Deus.
4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect, for al his ways are equitable. A trustworthy God who does nowrong, he is the Honest, the Upright One!	4 As obras de Deus são perfeitas, e todos os seus caminhos são justos. Deus é fiel, e sem nenhuma iniquidade, ele é justo e recto.
5 They have acted perversely, those he fathered without blemish, a deceitful and underhand brood.	5 Pecaram contra ele os filhos degenerados com suas imundícies geração depravada e perversa.
6 Is this the return you make to Yahweh? O people brainless and unwise! Is this not your father, whogave you being, who made you, by whom you subsist?	6 É este o agradecimento que dás ao Senhor, povo louco e insensato? Não é ele teu Pai, que te criou, que te fez, que te formou?
7 Think back on the days of old, think over the years, down the ages. Question your father, let himexplain to you, your elders, and let them tel you!	7 Lembra-te dos dias antigos, considera os anos das gerações passadas; interroga teu pai, e ele te contará; teus avós e eles te dirão.
8 When the Most High gave the nations each their heritage, when he partitioned out the human race, heassigned the boundaries of nations according to the number of the children of God,	8 Quando o Altíssimo dividiu a sua herança pelas nações, quando separou os filhos dos homens, fixou os limites ds povos segundo o número dos filhos de Israel.
9 but Yahweh's portion was his people, Jacob was to be the measure of his inheritance.	9 Porém a porção própria do Senhor é o seu povo; Jacob é a sua herança.
10 In the desert he finds him, in the howling expanses of the wastelands. He protects him, rears him,guards him as the pupil of his eye.	10 (O Senhor) encontrou-o numa terra deserta, num lugar horroroso e de vasta solidão, cercou-o e instruiu-o, guardou-o como as meninas dos seus olhos.
11 Like an eagle watching its nest, hovering over its young, he spreads out his wings to hold him, hesupports him on his pinions.	11 Como a águia que provoca seus filhos a voar, e esvoaça sobre eles, (assim o Senhor) estendeu as suas asas e o tomou, e o levou sobre seus ombros.
12 Yahweh alone is his guide; no alien god for him!	12 Só o Senhor foi o seu guia, e não estava com ele deus algum estranho.
13 He gives him the heights of the land to ride, he feeds him on the yield of the mountains, he gives himhoney from the rock to taste, and oil from the flinty crag;	13 Levou-o às alturas da terra, nutriu-o com os frutos dos campos, deu-lhe a sugar o mel (que saía) da pedra, e o azeite (que saía) do rochedo duríssimo.
14 curds from the cattle, milk from the flock, and the richness of the pasture, rams of Bashan's breed,and goats, the richness of the wheat kernel; the fermented blood of the grape for drink.	14 a manteiga das vacas, o leite das ovelhas, com gordura dos cordeiros, e dos carneiros criados em Basan, e dos cabritos, com a flor de farinha do trigo, e ele bebeu o mais puro sangue da uva.
15 Jacob has eaten to his heart's content, Jeshurun, grown fat, has now lashed out. (You have grownfat, gross, bloated.) He has disowned the God who made him, and dishonoured the Rock, his salvation,	15 Mas Jesurun engordou e recalcitrou; tendo-se tomado gordo, cheio e nédio, abandonou a Deus seu criador, e afastou-se de Deus sua salvação.
16 whose jealousy they aroused with foreigners -- with things detestable they angered him.	16 Provocaram-no com deuses estranhos, e excitaram-no à ira com as suas abominações.
17 They sacrificed to demons who are not God, to gods hitherto unknown to them, to newcomers ofyesterday whom their ancestors had never respected.	17 Sacrificaram aos demônios e não a Deus, a deuses que desconheciam, deuses novos, acabados de chegar, que seus pais não tinham adorado.
18 (You forget the Rock who fathered you, the God who made you, you no longer remember.)	18 Abandonaste o Deus que te gerou, e esqueceste-te do Senhor teu criador.
19 Yahweh saw it and, in anger, he spurned his sons and daughters.	19 O Senhor viu (isto), e acendeu-se em ira, porque o provocaram seus filhos e filhas.
20 'I shal hide my face from them,' he said, 'and see what wil become of them. For they are a deceitfulbrood, children with no loyalty in them.	20 E disse: Eu esconderei deles a minha face, e verei qual será o seu fim, porque é una geração perversa, (são) uns filhos infiéis.
21 They have roused me to jealousy with a non-god, they have exasperated me with their idols. In myturn I shal rouse them to jealousy with a non-people, I shal exasperate them with a stupid nation.	21 Eles provocaram-me com o que não é Deus, e irritaram-me com os seus ídolos vãos; eu os provocarei com um que não é povo, e os irritarei com uma nação insensata.
22 Yes, a fire has blazed from my anger, it will burn right down to the depths of Sheol; it will devour theearth and al its produce, it wil set fire to the footings of the mountains.	22 Acendeu-se o fogo da minha cólera, e arderá até ao fundo da habitação dos mortos; devorará a terra com todos os seus produtos, abrasará os fundamentos das montanhas.
23 I shal hurl disasters on them, on them I shal use up al my arrows.	23 Eu acumularei os males sobre eles, empregarei contra eles todas as minhas setas.
24 They wil be weakened by hunger, eaten away by plague and the bitter scourge. Against them I shalsend the fang of wild animals and the poison of snakes that glide in the dust.	24 Serão consumidos pela fome, pela febre e pela peste mortífera; mandarei contra eles os dentes das feras, com o furor dos (répteis) que se arrastam no pó da terra.
25 Outside, the sword bereaves, while inside terror wil reign. Young man and girl alike will perish,suckling and greybeard both together.	25 Por fora os desvastará a espada, e por dentro (os morderá) o terror, tanto ao mancebo como à donzela, tanto à criança de leite como ao velho.
26 I should crush them to dust, I said, I should wipe out al memory of them,	26 Já teria dito: vou exterminá-los completamente, farei desaparecer a sua memória entre os homens.
27 did I not fear the boasting of the enemy.' But do not let their foes be mistaken! Do not let them say,'We have got the upper hand and Yahweh plays no part in this.'	27 Contudo diferi (executar isto) por causa da arrogância dos inimigos; para que os seus inimigos se não ensoberbecessem, e dissessem: Foi a nossa mão poderosa, e não o Senhor, que fez todas estas coisas.
28 What a short-sighted nation this is, how thoroughly imperceptive!	28 É uma nação sem conselho e sem prudência.
29 Were they wise, they would succeed, they would be able to read their destiny.	29 Oxalá que eles tivessem sabedoria e compreendessem, e previssem o fim (que os espera)!
30 How else could one man rout a thousand, how could two put ten thousand to flight, were it not thattheir Rock has sold them, that Yahweh has delivered them up?	30 Como pode ser que um persiga mil, e dois ponham em fuga dez mil, Não é isto porque o seu Deus os vendeu, e o Senhor os entregou?
31 But their rock is not like our Rock; our enemies cannot pray for us!	31 O nosso Deus não é como os deuses deles; (disso) os nossos inimigos são juízes.
32 For their vine springs from the stock of Sodom and from the groves of Gomorrah: their grapes arepoisonous grapes, their clusters are bitter;	32 A sua vinha vem da vinha de Sodoma. e dos campos de Gomorra; a sua uva é uma uva de fel; e os seus cachos amargosíssimos.
33 their wine is snakes' poison, the vipers' cruel venom.	33 O seu vinho é fel de dragões, e veneno incurável de áspides.
34 But he, is he not safe with me, sealed inside my treasury?	34 Porventura não estão guardadas estas coisas junto de mim, e seladas nos meus tesouros?
35 Vengeance is mine, I wil pay them back, for the time when they make a false step. For the day oftheir ruin is close, doom is rushing towards them, for he wil see to it that their power fails. that neither serf norfree man remains.	35 A mim pertence a vingança, eu lhes darei o pago a seu tempo, quando o seu pé resvalar; está próximo o dia da (sua) perdição, os tempos (dela) se apressam a chegar.
36 (For Yahweh wil see his people righted, he wil take pity on his servants.)	36 O Senhor julgará o seu povo, compadecer-se-á dos seus servos, quando vir que a mão deles está sem força, e que não há mais, nem homens livres nem escravos.
37 'Where are their gods then?' he wil ask, 'the rock where they sought refuge,	37 Dirá: Onde estão os seus deuses, nos quais tinha (posto a sua) confiança.
38 who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations?' Let these arise and help you,let these be the shelter above you!	38 (esses deuses) que comiam a gordura das suas vítimas e bebiam o vinho das suas libações? Levantem-se, venham em vosso socorro e protejam-vos na (vossa) necessidade.
39 See now that I, I am he, and beside me there is no other god. It is I who deal death and life; when Ihave struck, it is I who heal (no one can rescue anyone from me).	39 Vede que sou eu só (o verdadeiro Deus), e que não há outro Deus fora de mim; eu faço morrer, e faço viver; firo e curo, e não há quem possa tirar da minha mão (coisa alguma).
40 Yes, I raise my hand to heaven, and I say, 'As surely as I live for ever,	40 Levantarei a minha mão ao céu, e direi: Eu vivo eternamente.
41 When I have whetted my flashing sword, I shal enforce justice, I shal return vengeance to my foes, Ishall take vengeance on my foes.	41 Se eu afiar como o raio a minha espada, e a minha mão tomar a justiça, eu me vingarei dos meus inimigos, e darei o pago aos que me aborrecem.
42 I shal make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword wil feed on flesh: the blood of the woundedand the prisoners, the dishevelled heads of the enemy!'	42 Embriagarei de sangue as minhas setas, a minha espada se saciará de carne, do sangue dos mortos e dos prisioneiros, da cabeça dos chefes dos inimigos.
43 Heavens, rejoice with him, let al the children of God pay him homage! Nations, rejoice with hispeople, let God's envoys tel of his power! For he wil avenge the blood of his servants, he wil return vengeanceto my foes, he will repay those who hate him and purify his people's country.	43 Louvai, ó gentes, o seu povo, porque o Senhor vingará o sangue dos seus servos, e tomará vingança dos seus inimigos, e será propício à sua terra, ao seu povo.
44 Moses came with Joshua son of Nun and recited all the words of this song in the people's hearing.	44 Foi, pois, Moisés, e proferiu todas as palavras deste cântico aos ouvidos do seu povo: com ele estava Josué filho de Nun.
45 When Moses had finished reciting these words to al Israel,	45 Quando acabou de proferir todas estas palavras a todo o Israel,
46 he said to them, 'Take al these words to heart; I intend them today to be evidence against you. Youmust order your children to keep and observe al the words of this Law.	46 disse-lhes: Aplicai os vossos corações a todas as palavras que eu hoje vos dirijo, para que recomendeis a vossos filhos que cuidadosamente cumpram todas as coisas que estão escritas nesta lei,
47 You must not think of this as empty words, for the Law is your life, and by its means you will live longin the country which you are crossing the Jordan to possess.'	47 porque não foi em vão que vos foram preceituadas, mas para que cada um de vós ache nelas a vida, e, pondo-as em prática, moreis por Iongo tempo na terra que, passado o Jordão, ides possuir.
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses that same day and said to him,	48 O Senhor no mesmo dia falou a Moisés, dizendo:
49 'Climb this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, in the country of Moab, opposite Jericho, and viewthe Canaan which I am giving to the Israelites as their domain.	49 Sobe à montanha de Abarim, ao monte Nebo, que está na terra de Moab, defronte de Jericó, e contempla a terra de Canaan, cuja posse darei aos filhos de Israel. Tu morrerás sobre o monte,
50 Die on the mountain you have climbed, and be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron diedon Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.	50 onde vais subir, irás unir-te ao teu povo, da mesma forma que teu irmão Aarão morreu sobre o monte Hor, e se foi unir ao seu povo,
51 Because, with the other Israelites, you broke faith with me at the Waters of Meribah-Kadesh in thedesert of Zin, because you did not make my holiness clear to the Israelites;	51 porque vós prevaricastes contra mim no meio dos filhos de Israel nas águas da Contradição, em Cades, no deserto de Sim, e não me santifiques entre os filhos de Israel.
52 you may only see the country from outside; you cannot enter it -- the country which I am giving to theIsraelites.'	52 Tu verás, defronte de ti a terra que eu darei aos filhos de Israel, mas não entrarás nela.
