He then took me out into the outer court on the north side and led me to the room facing the court, thatis to say, to the front of the building on the north side.1 (Depois) fez-me sair para o átrio exterior, ao norte; e introduziu-me nas câmaras, que estavam em frente do espaço livre e em frente da casa que olhava para o norte.
Along the front, it was a hundred cubits long on the north side and fifty cubits wide.2 (Este edifício) tinha na fachada cem côvados de comprimento, do lado da porta setentrional, e cinqüenta côvados de largura.
Facing the gateways of the inner court and facing the paving of the outer court was a gal ery in front ofthe triple gal ery,3 Tinha vista para o átrio interior, que era de vinte côvados, e para o pavimento do átrio exterior, onde estava uma galeria defronte da galeria de três planos.
and in front of the rooms was a walk, ten cubits measured inwards and a hundred cubits long; theirdoors looked north.4 Diante das câmaras havia um passeio de dez côvados de largo, e para ir ao interior um caminho dum côvado. As suas portas estavam ao norte.
The top-floor rooms were narrow because the gal eries took up part of the width, being narrower thanthose on the ground floor or those on the middle floor of the building;5 Estas câmaras eram mais estreitas no plano superior que as inferiores e as médias, porque as galerias lhes tiraram espaço.
these were divided into three storeys and had no columns such as the court had. Hence they werenarrower than the ground floor ones or the middle-floor ones (below them).6 Havia três andares, mas não tinham colunas como as colunas do átrio; por isso as câmaras superiores eram mais estreitas que as inferiores e as do meio.
The outer wal paral el to the rooms, facing them and giving onto the outer court, was fifty cubits long,7 O muro exterior ao longo das câmaras, no caminho do átrio exterior, tinha, diante das câmaras, cinqüenta côvados de comprido.
the length of the rooms facing the outer court being fifty cubits, while for those facing the hal of theTemple it was a hundred cubits.8 Com efeito, o comprimento das câmaras do átrio exterior era de cinqüenta côvados ao passo que a extensão defronte do templo, era de cem côvados.
Beneath the rooms there was an entrance from the east, leading in from the outer court.9 Por baixo destas câmaras havia uma entrada ao oriente, para os que entravam nelas do átrio exterior.
In the thickness of the wal of the court, on the south side fronting the court and the building, wererooms.10 Na largura do muro do átrio, que estava defronte da porta oriental do espaço livre e do edifício, havia câmaras.
A walk ran in front of them, as with the rooms built on the north side; they were of the same lengthand breadth, and were of similar design with similar doors in and out.11 Existia também um caminho ao longo destas câmaras, couro havia um ao longo das câmaras que estavam ao norte; o seu comprimento e a sua largura eram os mesmos, assim como eram as mesmas as saídas, a disposição e as portas;
Before the rooms on the south side there was an entrance at the end of each walk, opposite thecorresponding wall on the east side, at their entries.12 estas entradas eram como as portas das câmaras, que estavam ao meio-dia; havia uma porta no topo do caminho, ao longo do muro correspondente, para servir aos que entravam pela parte do oriente.
He said to me, 'The northern and southern rooms giving onto the court are the rooms of thesanctuary, in which the priests who approach Yahweh will eat the most holy things. In them will be placed themost holy things: the oblation, the sacrifice for sin and the sacrifice of reparation, since this is a holy place.13 Disse-me: As câmaras que ficam ao setentrião e as que ficam ao meio-dia, diante do espaço livre, são câmaras santas;, aqui é onde os sacerdotes, que se aproximam do Senhor, comem coisas santíssimas; aqui é que eles porão coisas sacrossantas, a oblação e a oferenda pelo pecado e pelo delito, porque este lugar é santo.
Once the priests have entered, they wil not go out of the holy place into the outer court withoutleaving their liturgical vestments there, since these vestments are holy; they will put on other clothes beforegoing near places assigned to the people.'14 Quando os sacerdotes tiverem entrado, não sairão do lugar santo para o átrio exterior sem deixarem lá as vestimentas com que exercem o seu ministério, porque são santas. Tomarão outras vestes, para ir ter aos lugares do povo.
When he had finished measuring the inside of the Temple, he took me out to the east gate andmeasured it right round the sides.15 Quando ele acabou de tomar as medidas do interior da casa, fez-me sair. pelo pórtico oriental e mediu a casa em toda a volta.
He measured the east side with his measuring rod: a total of five hundred cubits by the measuringrod.16 Mediu o lado do oriente com a cana de medir: quinhentos côvados (medidos) com a cana de medir, ao redor.
He then measured the north side: a total of five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.17 Mediu o lado do setentrião; quinhentos côvado.s, com a cana de medir, ao redor.
He then measured the south side: five hundred cubits by the measuring rod18 Mediu o lado do meio-dia: quinhentos côvados, com a cana de medir, ao redor.
was the total. On the west side he measured five hundred cubits by the measuring rod.19 Mediu o lado do ocidente; quinhentos côvados. com a cana de medir (ao redor).
He measured the entire enclosing wall on al four sides: length five hundred, breadth five hundred, separating the sacred from the profane.20 Mediu assim a parede de cintura, pelos quatro lados, andando á roda, achando o comprimento de quinhentos côvados e a largura de quinhentos côvados; (essa parede) separava o (lugar) sagrado do profano.
