Isaiah 30

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Sagrada
1 Woe to the rebel ious children -- declares Yahweh -- who make plans which do not come from me andmake al iances not inspired by me, and so add sin to sin!	1 ¡Ay de los hijos rebeldes! —oráculo del Señor—, | que hacen planes sin contar conmigo, | que sellan alianzas contrarias a mi espíritu | añadiendo así pecado a pecado,
2 They are leaving for Egypt, without consulting me, to take refuge in Pharaoh's protection, to shelter inEgypt's shadow.	2 que bajan a Egipto | sin consultar mi parecer, | para buscar la protección del faraón | y refugiarse a la sombra de Egipto.
3 Pharaoh's protection will be your shame, the shelter of Egypt's shadow your confounding.	3 Pues bien, la protección del faraón será su deshonra, | y refugiarse a la sombra de Egipto, su oprobio.
4 For his princes have gone to Zoan and his messengers have reached Hanes.	4 Cuando estén sus funcionarios en Soán | y lleguen a Janés sus mensajeros,
5 Everyone has been disappointed by a people who cannot help, who bring neither aid nor profit, onlydisappointment and confusion.	5 todos quedarán desilusionados de un pueblo inútil, | incapaz de auxiliar, | que no sirve sino de deshonra y afrenta.
6 Proclamation about the beasts of the Negeb: Into the land of distress and of anguish, of lioness androaring lion, of viper and flying dragon, they bear their riches on donkeys' backs, their treasures on camels'humps, to a nation that cannot help:	6 Oráculo contra los animales del Negueb: | Por una tierra de angustia y opresión, | tierra de leonas y leones, | de víboras y áspides voladores, | llevan sus riquezas a lomo de asno | y sus tesoros sobre la giba de los camellos, | a un pueblo sin provecho,
7 Egypt, whose help is vain and futile; and so I cal her 'Rahab -the-collapsed'.	7 a Egipto, cuyo auxilio es viento y vacío. | Por eso lo llamo así: «Rahab inmóvil».
8 Now go, inscribe this on a tablet, write it on a scrol , so that it may serve for time to come for ever andfor ever.	8 Ahora ve y escríbelo en una tablilla en su presencia, | inscríbelo en un libro: | quede para la posteridad | como testimonio perpetuo.
9 This is a rebellious people, they are lying children, children who will not listen to Yahweh's Law.	9 Es un pueblo rebelde, | son hijos renegados, | hijos que no quieren escuchar la ley del Señor;
10 To the seers they say, 'See nothing!' To the prophets, 'Do not prophesy the truth to us; tel us flatteringthings; have illusory visions;	10 que dicen a los videntes: | «No veáis»; | y a los que tienen visiones: | «Evitad visiones verdaderas, | decidnos cosas halagüeñas, | profetizad ilusiones;
11 turn aside from the way, leave the path, rid us of the Holy One of Israel.'	11 apartaos del camino, | desviaos de la senda, | quitad de vuestra vista al Santo de Israel».
12 So the Holy One of Israel says this, 'Since you have rejected this word and put your trust in fraud anddisloyalty and rely on these,	12 Por eso, así dice el Santo de Israel: | «Vosotros rechazáis esta palabra, | confiáis en la opresión y la perversidad, | y os apoyáis en ellas;
13 for you this guilt will prove to be a breach opening up, a bulge at the top of a wal which suddenly andal at once comes crashing down.	13 por eso será para vosotros esta culpa | como una grieta que baja | y se profundiza en una alta muralla, | hasta que de repente, de un golpe, se desmorona;
14 He wil shatter it like an earthenware pot, ruthlessly knocking it to pieces, so that of the fragments notone shard can be found with which to take up fire from the hearth or scoop water from the storage-wel .'	14 y se rompe como una vasija de alfarero, | hecha añicos sin piedad. | Entre sus fragmentos no se encuentra un pedazo | con que sacar brasas del brasero | o agua de la cisterna».
15 For Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, says this, 'Your salvation lay in conversion and tranquil ity,your strength in serenity and trust and you would have none of it.	15 Porque así os decía el Señor, Dios, el Santo de Israel: | «Vuestra salvación está en convertiros y en tener calma, | vuestra fuerza está en confiar y estar tranquilos»; | pero no quisisteis
16 "No," you said, "we shall flee on horses." And so flee you wil ! And again, "We shal ride on swift ones." And so your pursuers will be swift!	16 y dijisteis: «No. Huiremos a caballo». | Está bien, tendréis que huir. | «Correremos a galope». | Más correrán los que os persiguen.
17 A thousand wil quake at the threat of one and when five threaten you will flee, until what is left of youwil be like a flagstaff on a mountain top, like a signal on a hil .'	17 Huirán mil ante la amenaza de uno | y huiréis ante el reto de cinco; | hasta que quedéis | como mástil en la cumbre de un monte, | como enseña sobre una colina.
18 But Yahweh is waiting to be gracious to you, the Exalted One, to take pity on you, for Yahweh is aGod of fair judgement; blessed are al who hope in him.	18 Pero el Señor espera el momento de apiadarse, | se pone en pie para compadecerse; | porque el Señor es un Dios de la justicia: | dichosos los que esperan en él.
19 Yes, people of Zion living in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He wil be gracious to you when yourcry for help rings out; as soon as he hears it, he will answer you.	19 Pueblo de Sión, que habitas en Jerusalén, | no tendrás que llorar, | se apiadará de ti al oír tu gemido: | apenas te oiga, te responderá.
20 When the Lord has given you the bread of suffering and the water of distress, he who is your teacherwil hide no longer, and you wil see your teacher with your own eyes.	20 Aunque el Señor te diera | el pan de la angustia y el agua de la opresión | ya no se esconderá tu Maestro, | tus ojos verán a tu Maestro.
21 Your ears wil hear these words behind you, 'This is the way, keep to it,' whether you turn to right orleft.	21 Si te desvías a la derecha o a la izquierda, | tus oídos oirán una palabra a tus espaldas | que te dice: «Este es el camino, camina por él».
22 You wil hold unclean the silverplating of your idols and the goldplating of your images. You wil throwthem away like the pol uted things they are, shouting after them, 'Good riddance!'	22 Tendrás por impuros tus ídolos revestidos en plata | y tus estatuas fundidas en oro; | los arrojarás como inmundicia, | los llamarás basura.
23 He wil send rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the bread that the ground provides wil berich and nourishing. That day, your cattle will graze in wide pastures.	23 Te dará lluvia para la semilla | que siembras en el campo, | y el grano cosechado en el campo | será abundante y suculento; | aquel día, tus ganados pastarán en anchas praderas;
24 Oxen and donkeys that work the land will eat for fodder wild sorrel, spread by the shovel-load andfork-load.	24 los bueyes y asnos que trabajan en el campo | comerán forraje fermentado, | aventado con pala y con rastrillo.
25 On every lofty mountain, on every high hil there wil be streams and water-courses, on the day of thegreat slaughter when the strongholds fal .	25 En toda alta montaña, | en toda colina elevada | habrá canales y cauces de agua | el día de la gran matanza, cuando caigan las torres.
26 Then moonlight will be bright as sunlight and sunlight itself be seven times brighter -- like the light ofseven days in one -- on the day Yahweh dresses his people's wound and heals the scars of the blows they havereceived.	26 La luz de la luna será como la luz del sol, | y la luz del sol será siete veces mayor, | como la luz de siete días, | cuando el Señor vende la herida de su pueblo | y cure las llagas de sus golpes.
27 See, the name of Yahweh comes from afar, blazing his anger, heavy his threat. His lips are brimmingover with fury, his tongue is like a devouring fire.	27 He aquí que el Nombre del Señor viene de lejos, | arde su ira como incendio imponente, | están llenos sus labios de furor, | su lengua es un fuego que devora.
28 His breath is like a river in spate coming up to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve ofdestruction, to harness the peoples in a bridle, that wil lead them astray.	28 Su aliento es un torrente desbordado | que alcanza hasta el cuello, | para cribar a los pueblos con criba de exterminio, | para poner en la quijada de las naciones un freno que los pierda.
29 Your song wil be like that on a festal night, and there wil be joy in your hearts as when to the soundof the flute people make a pilgrimage to the mountain of Yahweh, the Rock of Israel.	29 Entonaréis un cántico | como cuando se celebra una fiesta por la noche, | se alegrará el corazón al compás de la flauta, | mientras vais al monte del Señor, a la roca de Israel.
30 Yahweh will make his majestic voice ring out, he wil show the weight of his arm in the heat of hisanger, with a devouring fire, with thunderbolt, downpour and hailstones.	30 El Señor hará resonar la majestad de su voz, | mostrará su brazo que descarga | el ataque de su ira, fuego devorador, | tempestad, aguacero y granizo.
31 Yes, at Yahweh's voice Assyria wil be terrified, he wil strike him with his rod;	31 A la voz del Señor temblará Asiria, | golpeada con la vara.
32 each time he goes by, wil fal the punishing rod that Yahweh wil lay on him, to the sound oftambourines and harps, in the battles which he wil wage against him with uplifted hand.	32 Cada golpe de vara del castigo | que el Señor descargue sobre ella | será entre panderos, cítaras y danzas. | El Señor combate a mano alzada.
33 Yes, Topheth has been ready for a long time now, that too is ready for the king, deep and wide hispyre, fire and wood in plenty. Yahweh's breath, like a stream of brimstone, wil set fire to it.	33 Hace tiempo que está preparada la hoguera, | ancha y profunda, también para el rey; | una pira con fuego y leña abundante: | y el soplo del Señor, como torrente de azufre, | le prenderá fuego.
