Isaiah 27

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Sagrada
1 That day Yahweh wil punish, with his unyielding sword, massive and strong, Leviathan the fleeingserpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; he wil kil that dragon that lives in the sea.	1 Aquel día castigará el Señor con su espada templada, grande y fuerte, al Leviatán, serpiente huidiza, al Leviatán, serpiente tortuosa, y matará al Dragón marino.
2 That day, sing of the splendid vineyard!	2 Aquel día cantaréis a la viña deliciosa:
3 I, Yahweh, am its guardian, from time to time I water it; so that no harm befal it, I guard it night andday.	3 Yo, el Señor, soy su guardián. | Con frecuencia la riego. | Para que nadie la dañe, la vigilo noche y día.
4 -I do not have a wall. Who can reduce me to brambles and thorn-bushes? -I shal make war andtrample on it and at the same time burn it.	4 Ya no estoy enfadado. | Si me diera zarzas y cardos, | combatiría contra ellos, los quemaría todos juntos.
5 Or should they beg for my protection, let them make their peace with me, peace let them make withme.	5 Pero no se acoge a mi cuidado. | ¡Que haga la paz conmigo! | ¡Que conmigo haga la paz!
6 In days to come, Jacob will take root, Israel wil bud and blossom and the surface of the world be onevast harvest.	6 Llegarán días en que Jacob echará raíces, | Israel echará brotes y flores, | y sus frutos llenarán el mundo.
7 Has he struck him as he was struck by those who struck him? Has he murdered him as he wasmurdered by those who murdered him?	7 ¿Lo ha herido como hirió a quienes lo herían? | ¿Lo ha matado como mató a quienes lo mataban?
8 By expel ing, by excluding him, you have executed a sentence, he has blown him away with a breathas rough as the east wind.	8 Lo has castigado expulsándolo, enviándolo lejos, | lo dispersaste como un viento impetuoso del desierto.
9 For that is how Jacob's guilt wil be forgiven, such wil be the result of renouncing his sin, when al thealtar-stones have been smashed to pieces like lumps of chalk, when the sacred poles and incense-altars standno longer.	9 Así quedará reparada la culpa de Jacob. Y este será el fruto de que le hayan quitado su pecado: que convierta las piedras de los altares en polvo de piedra caliza y que no erija más palos sagrados en honor de Aserá, ni altares de incienso en honor del sol.
10 For the fortified city is abandoned now, deserted, forsaken as a desert where calves browse, wherethey lie down, destroying its branches.	10 La plaza fuerte ha quedado solitaria, | un extenso pastizal desolado como un desierto. | Allí pastará el novillo, | se echará y devorará los arbustos.
11 When boughs go dry, they get burnt, women come and use them for firewood. Now, this is a peoplethat does not understand, and so its Maker wil not take pity on it, he who formed it wil not show it any mercy.	11 Cuando se secan las ramas, las parten, | y las mujeres con ellas hacen fuego. | Pues no es un pueblo sensato; | por eso su Hacedor no se apiada, | aquel que lo ha formado no se apiada.
12 When that day comes, Yahweh wil start his threshing from the course of the River to the Torrent ofEgypt, and you will be gathered one by one, Israelites!	12 Aquel día, trillará el Señor las espigas | desde el Gran Río hasta el Torrente de Egipto; | y a vosotros, hijos de Israel, os recogerá uno a uno.
13 When that day comes, the great ram's-horn will be sounded, and those lost in Assyria will come, andthose banished to Egypt, and they wil worship Yahweh on the holy mountain, in Jerusalem.	13 Aquel día, el Señor tocará la gran trompeta, | y volverán los que estaban perdidos en Asiria | y los dispersados en Egipto, | para postrarse ante el Señor | en el monte santo de Jerusalén.
