NEW AMERICAN BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
A song; a psalm of Asaph.1 [Song Psalm Of Asaph] God, do not remain silent, do not stay quiet or unmoved, God!
God, do not be silent; God, be not still and unmoved!2 See how your enemies are in uproar, how those who hate you are rearing their heads.
See how your enemies rage; your foes proudly raise their heads.3 They are laying plans against your people, conspiring against those you cherish;
They conspire against your people, plot against those you protect.4 they say, 'Come, let us annihilate them as a nation, the name of Israel shall be remembered no more!'
They say, "Come, let us wipe out their nation; let Israel's name be mentioned no more!"5 They conspire with a single mind, they conclude an al iance against you,
They scheme with one mind, in league against you:6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagrites,
The tents of Ishmael and Edom, the people of Moab and Hagar,7 Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia and the Tyrians;
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre.8 even Assyria has joined them to reinforce the children of Lot.Pause
Assyria, too, in league with them gives aid to the descendants of Lot. Selah9 Treat them like Midian and Sisera, like Jabin at the river Kishon;
Deal with them as with Midian; as with Sisera and Jabin at the torrent Kishon,10 wiped out at En-Dor, they served to manure the ground.
Those destroyed at Endor, who became dung for the ground.11 Treat their leaders like Oreb and Zeeb, al their commanders like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,12 for they said, 'Let us take for ourselves God's settlements.'
Who made a plan together, "Let us seize the pastures of God."13 My God, treat them like thistledown, like chaff at the mercy of the wind.
My God, turn them into withered grass, into chaff flying before the wind.14 As fire devours a forest, as a flame sets mountains ablaze,
As a fire raging through a forest, a flame setting mountains ablaze,15 so drive them away with your tempest, by your whirlwind fill them with terror.
Pursue them with your tempest; terrify them with your storm.16 Shame written al over their faces, let them seek your name, Yahweh!
Cover their faces with shame, till they pay you homage, LORD.17 Dishonour and terror be always theirs, death also and destruction.
Let them be dismayed and shamed forever; let them perish in disgrace.18 Let them know that you alone bear the name of Yahweh, Most High over al the earth.
Show them you alone are the LORD, the Most High over all the earth.
