Job 33

1 Therefore, O Job, hear my discourse, and hearken to all my words.	1 Adunque odi, Iob, le mie parole, e tutti li miei sermoni ascolta.
2 Behold, now I open my mouth; my tongue and my voice form words.	2 Ecco io apro la mia bocca; e favelli la mia lingua nelle mie mascelle.
3 I will state directly what is in my mind, my lips shall utter knowledge sincerely;	3 Collo mio semplice cuore le mie parole, e le mie labbra diranno la pura sentenza.
4 For the spirit of God has made me, the breath of the Almighty keeps me alive.	4 Lo Spirito di Dio (pure) fece me, e lo spiracolo dell' Onnipotente vivificò me.
5 If you are able, refute me; draw up your arguments and stand forth.	5 Se tu puoi, rispondi a me, e contrasta contro alla mia faccia.
6 Behold I, like yourself, have been taken from the same clay by God.	6 Ecco che me, sì come te, fece Iddio; e di quello medesimo fango certo io sono formato.
7 Therefore no fear of me should dismay you, nor should my presence weigh heavily upon you.	7 Ma impertanto lo mio miracolo non ti spaventi, e le mie parole non siano gravi a te.
8 But you have said in my hearing, as I listened to the sound of your words:	8 Dicesti adunque nelle mie orecchie, e la voce delle tue parole io udi':
9 "I am clean and without transgression; I am innocent; there is no guilt in me.	9 Io sono mondo, senza peccato e senza macchia, e non è iniquitade in me.
10 Yet he invents pretexts against me and reckons me as his enemy.	10 Perciò che ritrovò in me la lamentazione, però ha egli arbitrato me suo nemico.
11 He puts my feet in the stocks; he watches all my ways!"	11 Pose nel nervo li miei piedi, e guardò tutte le mie vie.
12 In this you are not just, let me tell you; for God is greater than man.	12 Questa cosa è adunque, nella quale tu non se' giustificato; risponderò a te, perciò che maggiore è Iddio che l'uomo.
13 Why, then, do you make complaint against him that he gives no account of his doings?	13 Contro a lui contendi, ch' elli non abbia risposto a te ad ogni parola?
14 For God does speak, perhaps once, or even twice, though one perceive it not.	14 Una volta favella Iddio, e la seconda volta quello medesimo non ridice.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, (when deep sleep falls upon men) as they slumber in their beds,	15 Per lo sogno, nella visione di notte, quando viene lo sonno sopra gli uomini, e dormono nel letto;
16 It is then he opens the ears of men and as a warning to them, terrifies them;	16 allora apre le orecchie delli uomini, e ammaestrando loro insegna la disciplina,
17 By turning man from evil and keeping pride away from him,	17 acciò ch' egli rivolga l' uomo di quelle cose ch' elli fa, e liberi lui dalla superbia;
18 He withholds his soul from the pit and his life from passing to the grave.	18 liberando l'anima sua da corruzione, e la vita sua, acciò ch' ella non passi nel coltello.
19 Or a man is chastened on his bed by pain and unceasing suffering within his frame,	19 E certo ello riprende per dolore nel letto, e tutte le sue osse fae marcire.
20 So that to his appetite food becomes repulsive, and his senses reject the choicest nourishment.	20 Egli è abbominevole nella vita sua lo pane, e all' anima sua lo cibo che dinanzi è da essere desiderato.
21 His flesh is wasted so that it cannot be seen, and his bones, once invisible, appear;	21 Vengono meno le carni sue; e l'ossa, ch' erano coperte, fieno spogliate.
22 His soul draws near to the pit, his life to the place of the dead.	22 Approssimasi alla corruzione l'anima sua, e la vita sua alle cose mortifere.
23 If then there be for him an angel, one out of a thousand, a mediator, To show him what is right for him and bring the man back to justice,	23 Se sarà per lui l'angelo favellante una cosa di queste tali, acciò ch' elli anunzii la equità dell' uomo;
24 He will take pity on him and say, "Deliver him from going down to the pit; I have found him a ransom."	24 avrà misericordia di lui, e dirà: libera lui, acciò ch' elli non discenda nella corruzione; ho trovato in che io lo aiuterò.
25 Then his flesh shall become soft as a boy's; he shall be again as in the days of his youth.	25 Consumata è la carne sua colli tormenti; ritorni a' di della sua giovinezza.
26 He shall pray and God will favor him; he shall see God's face with rejoicing.	26 Pregherà Iddio, e piacevole a lui sarae; vedrà la faccia sua in allegrezza, e renderà all' uomo la sua giustizia.
27 He shall sing before men and say, "I sinned and did wrong, yet he has not punished me accordingly.	27 Ragguarderà li uomini, e dirà: peccai, e veramente peccai; e sì come era degno, non ricevetti.
28 He delivered my soul from passing to the pit, and I behold the light of life."	28 Liberò l'anima sua acciò ch' ella non andasse alla morte, ma vivente vedesse la luce.
29 Lo, all these things God does, twice, or thrice, for a man,	29 Ecco, queste cose adopera Iddio tre volte per ciascuno,
30 Bringing back his soul from the pit to the light, in the land of the living.	30 acciò ch' egli rivolga l'anima sua della corruzione, e allumini con la luce delli viventi.
31 Be attentive, O Job; listen to me! Be silent and I will speak.	31 Attendi, Iob, e odi me; e taci, insino ch' io favello.
32 If you have aught to say, then answer me. Speak out! I should like to see you justified.	32 E se tu hai che favelli, rispondi a me; favella; certo io voglio che tu apparischi giusto.
33 If not, then do you listen to me; be silent while I teach you wisdom.	33 La quale cosa se non l' hai, odi me, e taci; e inseguerò a te la sapienza.
