1 His son Jehoshaphat succeeded him as king and strengthened his hold against Israel.	1 Sein Sohn Josaphat folgte ihm in der Königsherrschaft. Er entfaltete seine Macht über Israel.
2 He placed armed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and put garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which his father Asa had taken.	2 Er legte Truppen in alle festen Städte Judas und bestellte Posten im Land Juda und in den Städten Ephraims, die sein Vater Asa erobert hatte.
3 The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the ways his father had pursued in the beginning, and he did not consult the Baals.	3 Der Herr war mit Josaphat; denn er wandelte auf den einstigen Wegen seines Vaters David und suchte nicht die Baale auf.
4 Rather, he sought the God of his father and observed his commands, and not the practices of Israel.	4 Vielmehr suchte er den Gott seines Vaters. In seinen Geboten wandelte er und tat nicht wie Israel.
5 As a result, the LORD made his kingdom secure, and all Judah gave Jehoshaphat gifts, so that he enjoyed great wealth and glory.	5 Darum festigte der Herr die Königsherrschaft in seiner Hand. Ganz Juda brachte Josaphat Geschenke, so daß ihm viel Reichtum und Glanz zuteil wurde.
6 Thus he was encouraged to follow the LORD'S ways, and again he removed the high places and the sacred poles from Judah.	6 Sein Herz war begeistert auf den Wegen des Herrn, und so entfernte er weiterhin die Höhen und die Ascheren aus Juda.
7 In the third year of his reign he sent his leading men, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.	7 Im dritten Jahr seiner Herrschaft sandte er seine Fürsten Ben-Chajil, Obadja, Sacharja, Netanel und Michaja aus, um in den Städten Judas zu lehren.
8 With them he sent the Levites Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah and Tobijah, together with the priests Elishama and Jehoram.	8 Ihnen zur Seite standen die Leviten Schemaja, Netanja, Sebadja, Asahel, Schemiramot, Jonatan, Adonia, Tobia und Tob-Adonia, die Leviten, und mit diesen vereint die Priester Elischama und Joram.
9 They taught in Judah, having with them the book containing the law of the LORD; they traveled through all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.	9 Sie lehrten in Juda. Dabei hatten sie das Gesetzbuch des Herrn bei sich. Sie zogen in allen Städten Judas umher und unterwiesen das Volk.
10 Now the fear of the LORD was upon all the kingdoms of the countries surrounding Judah, so that they did not war against Jehoshaphat.	10 Der Schrecken des Herrn kam über alle Königreiche der Länder rings um Juda, so daß sie mit Josaphat keinen Streit anfingen.
11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and a tribute of silver; and the Arabs also brought him a flock of seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.	11 Von den Philistern brachte man Geschenke und Silber als Abgaben an Josaphat. Auch die Araber sandten ihm Kleinvieh: siebentausendsiebenhundert Widder und siebentausendsiebenhundert Ziegenböcke.
12 Jehoshaphat grew steadily greater. He built strongholds and store cities in Judah.	12 So aber wurde Josaphat immer größer und mächtiger. Er baute in Juda Burgen und Vorratsstädte.
13 He carried out many works in the cities of Judah, and he had soldiers, valiant warriors, in Jerusalem.	13 Er hatte riesige Vorräte in den Städten Judas und hielt sich tapfere Kriegsleute in Jerusalem.
14 This was their mustering according to their ancestral houses. Of Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, and with him three hundred thousand valiant warriors.	14 Das war ihre Amtsordnung nach ihren Familien: Zu Juda gehörten als Oberste über die Tausendschaften der Fürst Adna mit dreihunderttausend tapferen Männern,
15 Next to him, Jehohanan the commander, and with him two hundred eighty thousand.	15 an seiner Seite der Fürst Jochanan mit zweihundertachtzigtausend Mann
16 Next to him, Amasiah, son of Zichri, who offered himself to the LORD, and with him two hundred thousand valiant warriors.	16 und Amasja, der Sohn Sichris, der sich freiwillig dem Herrn angeboten hatte, mit zweihunderttausend tapferen Männern.
17 From Benjamin: Eliada, a valiant warrior, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bow and buckler.	17 Zu Benjamin gehörte der heldenhafte Eljada mit zweihunderttausend Mann, die Bogen und Schild führten.
18 Next to him, Jozabad, and with him one hundred and eighty thousand equipped for war.	18 An seiner Seite stand Josabad mit hundertachtzigtausend zum Heeresdienst gerüsteten Männern.
19 These were at the service of the king; in addition were those whom the king had placed in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.	19 Diese standen in königlichen Diensten neben jenen, die der König in die Festungen von ganz Juda gelegt hatte.
