The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? | 1 A Psalm of David himself. To you, Lord, I will cry out. My God, do not be silent toward me. For if you remain silent toward me, I will become like those who descend into the pit. |
When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. | 2 Hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication, when I pray to you, when I lift up my hands toward your holy temple. |
Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. | 3 Do not draw me away together with sinners; and let me not perish with those who work iniquity, who speak peacefully to their neighbor, yet evils are in their hearts. |
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. | 4 Give to them according to their works and according to the wickedness of their inventions. Assign to them according to the works of their hands. Repay them with their own retribution. |
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. | 5 Since they have not understood the works of the Lord and the works of his hands, you will destroy them, and you will not build them up. |
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. | 6 Blessed is the Lord, for he has heard the voice of my supplication. |
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. | 7 The Lord is my helper and my protector. In him, my heart has hoped and I have been helped. And my flesh has flourished again. And from my will, I shall confess to him. |
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. | 8 The Lord is the strength of his people and the protector of the salvation of his Christ. |
Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. | 9 O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance, and reign over them and exalt them, even unto eternity. |
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. |
