1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.	1 Du temps de David, il y eut aussi une famine qui dura trois ans. Alors David consulta l'oracle du Seigneur, et le Seigneur lui répondit : Cette famine est arrivée à cause de Saül et de sa maison de sang, parce qu'il a tué les Gabaonites.
2 And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them: and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah.)	2 David fit donc venir les Gabaonites et leur dit (or les Gabaonites n'étaient point des enfants d'Israël, mais un reste des Amorrhéens ; les Israélites leur avaient juré qu'ils ne les feraient pas mourir ; cependant Saül avait voulu les frapper par (un faux) zèle pour les fils d'Israël et de Juda),
3 Wherefore David said unto the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make the atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?	3 David leur dit donc : Que ferai-je pour réparer l'injure que vous avez reçue, afin que vous bénissiez l'héritage du Seigneur ?
4 And the Gibeonites said unto him, We will have no silver nor gold of Saul, nor of his house; neither for us shalt thou kill any man in Israel. And he said, What ye shall say, that will I do for you.	4 Les Gabaonites répondirent : Nous ne voulons ni or ni argent ; nous demandons justice contre Saül et contre sa maison ; à part cela, nous ne voulons la mort d'aucun Israélite. Que voulez-vous donc, dit David, que je fasse pour vous ?
5 And they answered the king, The man that consumed us, and that devised against us that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the coasts of Israel,	5 Ils lui répondirent : Nous devons tellement exterminer la race de celui qui nous a tourmentés et opprimés injustement, qu'il n'en reste pas un seul dans toutes les terres d'Israël.
6 Let seven men of his sons be delivered unto us, and we will hang them up unto the LORD in Gibeah of Saul, whom the LORD did choose. And the king said, I will give them.	6 Qu'on nous donne sept de ses enfants, afin que nous les mettions en croix devant le (crucifiions au Seigneur) Seigneur à Gabaa, d'où était Saül, qui fut autrefois l'élu du Seigneur. Le roi leur dit : Je vous les donnerai.
7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.	7 Il épargna Miphiboseth, fils de Jonathas, fils de Saül, à cause de l'alliance que Jonathas et lui s'étaient jurée au nom du Seigneur.
8 But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite:	8 Mais il prit les deux fils de Respha, fille d'Aïa, Armoni et Miphiboseth, qu'elle avait eus de Saül ; et (les) cinq fils que Michol, fille de Saül, avait eus d'Hadriel, fils d'Hadriel, fils de Berzellaï, qui était de Molath ;
9 And he delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them in the hill before the LORD: and they fell all seven together, and were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, in the beginning of barley harvest.	9 et il les mit entre les mains des Gabaonites, qui les crucifièrent sur une montagne devant le Seigneur. Et ces sept hommes moururent ensemble aux premiers jours de la moisson, lorsqu'on commençait à couper les orges.
10 And Rizpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for her upon the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water dropped upon them out of heaven, and suffered neither the birds of the air to rest on them by day, nor the beasts of the field by night.	10 (Or) Respha, fille d'Aïa, prenant un cilice, l'étendit sur une pierre, et demeura là depuis le commencement de la moisson jusqu'à ce que l'eau du ciel tombât sur eux ; et elle empêcha les oiseaux pendant le jour, et les bêtes pendant la nuit de déchirer leurs corps.
11 And it was told David what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.	11 Cette action de Respha, fille d'Aïa, concubine de Saül, fut rapportée à David.
12 And David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh-gilead, which had stolen them from the street of Beth-shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, when the Philistines had slain Saul in Gilboa:	12 Alors David alla prendre les os de Saül et de Jonathas son fils, à Jabès en Galaad, dont les habitants les avaient enlevés (furtivement) de la place de Bethsan, où les Philistins les avaient suspendus après que Saül eut été tué à Gelboé.
13 And he brought up from thence the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.	13 David transporta donc de là les os de Saül et de Jonathas son fils. On reçut aussi les os de ceux qui avaient été crucifiés à Gabaon,
14 And the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son buried they in the country of Benjamin in Zelah, in the sepulchre of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land.	14 et on les ensevelit avec ceux de Saül et de Jonathas son fils (sur un côté) dans le sépulcre de Cis, père de Saül, à Séla, sur le territoire de Benjamin. Et l'on fit tout ce que le roi avait ordonné. Et après cela Dieu redevint propice au pays.
15 Moreover the Philistines had yet war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines: and David waxed faint.	15 Les Philistins firent encore la guerre à Israël. David marcha contre eux avec son armée, et leur livra bataille. Or David était fatigué ;
16 And Ishbi-benob, which was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear weighed three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David.	16 et Jesbibénob, de la race d'Arapha, qui avait une lance dont le fer pesait trois cents sicles (onces, note), et une épée qui n'avait point encore servi, était prêt de le tuer ;
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.	17 mais Abisaï, fils de Sarvia, vint au-devant de David et tua le Philistin. Alors les gens de David lui dirent avec serment : Vous ne sortirez plus avec nous pour combattre, de peur que vous n'éteigniez la lampe d'Israël.
18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which was of the sons of the giant.	18 Il y eut une seconde guerre à Gob contre les Philistins, où Sobochaï de Husathi tua Saph, issu d'Arapha, de la race des géants.
19 And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.	19 Il y eut aussi une troisième guerre à Gob contre les Philistins, en laquelle Elhanan (Adéodatus), fils de Jaaré (Saltus), (surnommé Orgim) de Bethléhem, tua Goliath de Geth, qui avait une lance dont la hampe était comme le grand bois dont se servent les tisserands.
20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.	20 Il se fit une quatrième guerre à Geth, où il se trouva un homme de haute taille qui avait six doigts aux pieds et aux mains, c'est-à-dire vingt-quatre doigts, et qui était de la race d'Arapha.
21 And when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea the brother of David slew him.	21 Il vint outrager insolemment Israël ; mais Jonathan, fils de Samaa, frère de David, le tua.
22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.	22 Ces quatre hommes étaient de Geth, de la race d'Arapha, et ils furent tués par David, ou par ses gens.
