1 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds come from the south, it cometh from the desert from a terrible land.	1 Oracle contre le (Malheur accablant du) désert de la mer. Comme s'avancent les tourbillons du midi (de l'Africus), il vient du désert, d'une terre épouvantable.
2 A grievous vision is told me: he that is unfaithful dealeth unfaithfully : and he that is a spoiler, spoileth. Go up, O Elam, besiege, O Mede: I have made all the mourning thereof to cease.	2 Une terrible vision (pénible) m'a été révélée : Le perfide (celui qui est incrédule) agit avec perfidie, (infidèlement) et le dévastateur (celui qui dépeuple) dévaste. Monte, Elam ; Mède, assiège ; je vais mettre fin à (j'ai fait cesser tous) ses gémissements.
3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain, anguish hath taken hold of me, as the anguish of a woman in labour: I fell down at the hearing of it, I was troubled at the seeing of it.	3 C'est pourquoi mes reins sont saisis de douleur ; l'angoisse me saisit, comme l'angoisse d'une femme en travail ; ce que j'entends m'effraye (me trouble), et ce que je vois m'épouvante (tout troublé).
4 My heart failed, darkness amazed me: Babylon my beloved is become a wonder to me.	4 Mon cœur a défailli (s'est flétri) ; les (des) ténèbres m'ont stupéfié : Babylone, ma bien-aimée, devient (m'est devenue) un sujet d'effroi (étonnement).
5 Prepare the table, behold in the watchtower them that eat and drink: arise, ye princes, take up the shield.	5 Dresse la table, contemple d'un poste élevé ceux qui mangent et qui boivent. Levez-vous, princes, prenez le bouclier.
6 For thus hath the Lord said to me: Go, and set a watchman: and whatsoever he shall see, let him tell.	6 Car voici ce que m'a dit le Seigneur : Va, et place une sentinelle qui t'annoncera tout ce qu'elle verra.
7 And he saw a chariot with two horsemen, a rider upon an ass, and a rider upon a camel: and he beheld them diligently with much heed.	7 Et elle vit un char conduit par deux cavaliers, des hommes montés sur des ânes, et des hommes montés sur des chameaux ; et elle contempla soigneusement, avec grande attention.
8 And a lion cried out: I am upon the watchtower of the Lord, standing continually by day: and I am upon my ward, standing whole nights.	8 Puis elle cria comme un lion : Je suis au poste où m'a placé le Seigneur, et j'y demeure tout le jour ; je monte ma garde, et j'y demeure les nuits.
9 Behold this man cometh, the rider upon the chariot with two horsemen, and he answered, and said: Babylon is fallen, she is fallen, and all the graven gods thereof are broken unto the ground.	9 Et voici, l'homme qui conduisait le char s'approcha, et il prit la parole, et dit : Elle est tombée, elle est tombée, Babylone, et toutes les images de ses dieux (, taillées au ciseau) ont été brisées à terre.
10 O my thrashing and the children of my door, that which I have heard of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, I have declared unto you.	10 O mon grain trituré et les fils de mon aire, ce que j'ai appris du Seigneur des armées, du Dieu d'Israël, je vous l'ai annoncé.
11 The burden of Duma calleth to me out of Seir: Watchman, what of the eight? watchman, what of the night?	11 Oracle sur (Malheur accablant de) Duma. On (Il) me crie de Séir : Sentinelle (Garde), où en est-on (qu'annonces-tu) de la nuit ? Sentinelle (garde), où en est-on (qu'annonces-tu) de la nuit ?
12 The watchman said: The morning cometh, also the night: if you seek, seek: return, come.	12 La sentinelle (Le garde) répond (dit) : Le matin vient (est venu), et la nuit (aussi) ; si vous cherchez, cherchez ; convertissez-vous, venez.
13 The burden in Arabia. In the forest at evening you shall sleep, in the paths of Dedanim.	13 Oracle sur (Malheur accablant dans) l'Arabie. Vous dormirez le soir dans la forêt, dans les sentiers de Dédanim.
14 Meeting the thirsty bring him water, you that inhabit the land of the south, meet with bread him that fleeth.	14 Venez (Venant) au-devant de ceux (celui) qui ont (a) soif, et portez-leur (lui) de l'eau, vous qui habitez la terre du midi ; venez avec des pains au-devant des fugitifs (de celui qui fuit) ;
15 For they are fled from before the swords, from the sword that hung over them, from the bent bow, from the face of a grievous battle.	15 car ils fuient devant les glaives, devant le glaive menaçant, devant l'arc tendu et devant un rude (grave) combat.
16 For thus saith the Lord to me: Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Cedar shall be taken away.	16 Car ainsi m'a parlé le Seigneur : Encore une année, comme une année de mercenaire, et toute (la) gloire de Cédar sera détruite (enlevée).
17 And the residue of the number of strong archers of the children of Cedar shall be diminished: for the Lord the God of Israel hath spoken it.	17 Et le nombre des robustes archers de Cédar qui seront restés diminuera, car le Seigneur, le Dieu d'Israël, a parlé.
