DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW JERUSALEM
Unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it. Unless the Lord keep the city, he watcheth in vain that keepeth it.1 [Song of Ascents] How blessed are al who fear Yahweh, who walk in his ways!
It is vain for you to rise before light, rise ye after you have sitten, you that eat the bread of sorrow. When he shall give sleep to his beloved,2 Your own labours wil yield you a living, happy and prosperous will you be.
behold the inheritance of the Lord are children: the reward, the fruit of the womb.3 Your wife a fruitful vine in the inner places of your house. Your children round your table like shootsof an olive tree.
As arrows in the hand of the mighty, so the children of them that have been shaken.4 Such are the blessings that fal on those who fear Yahweh.
Blessed is the man that hath filled the desire with them; he shall not be confounded when he shall speak to his enemies in the gate.5 May Yahweh bless you from Zion! May you see Jerusalem prosper al the days of your life,
and live to see your children's children! Peace to Israel!
