DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it. Unless the Lord keep the city, he watcheth in vain that keepeth it.1 A song of ascents. Happy are all who fear the LORD, who walk in the ways of God.
It is vain for you to rise before light, rise ye after you have sitten, you that eat the bread of sorrow. When he shall give sleep to his beloved,2 What your hands provide you will enjoy; you will be happy and prosper:
behold the inheritance of the Lord are children: the reward, the fruit of the womb.3 Like a fruitful vine your wife within your home, Like olive plants your children around your table.
As arrows in the hand of the mighty, so the children of them that have been shaken.4 Just so will they be blessed who fear the LORD.
Blessed is the man that hath filled the desire with them; he shall not be confounded when he shall speak to his enemies in the gate.5 May the LORD bless you from Zion, all the days of your life That you may share Jerusalem's joy
and live to see your children's children. Peace upon Israel!
