BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Yahveh dijo a Noé: «Entra en el arca tú y toda tu casa, porque tú eres el único justo que he visto en esta generación.	1 Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go aboard the ark, you and all your household, for you alone of yourcontemporaries do I see before me as an upright man.
2 De todos los animales puros tomarás para ti siete parejas, el macho con su hembra, y de todos los animales que no son puros, una pareja, el macho con su hembra.	2 Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals youmust take one pair, a male and its female
3 (Asimismo de las aves del cielo, siete parejas, machos y hembras) para que sobreviva la casta sobre la haz de toda la tierra.	3 (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughoutthe earth.
4 Porque dentro de siete días haré llover sobre la tierra durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, y exterminaré de sobre la haz del suelo todos los seres que hice.»	4 For in seven days' time I shal make it rain on earth for forty days and forty nights, and I shall wipeevery creature I have made off the face of the earth.'
5 Y Noé ejecutó todo lo que le había mandado Yahveh.	5 Noah did exactly as Yahweh commanded him.
6 Noé contaba seiscientos años cuando acaeció el diluvio, las aguas, sobre la tierra.	6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came, the waters over the earth.
7 Noé entró en el arca, y con él sus hijos, su mujer y las mujeres de sus hijos, para salvarse de las aguas del diluvio.	7 Noah with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives boarded the ark to escape the waters of the flood.
8 (De los animales puros, y de los animales que no son puros, y de las aves, y de todo lo que serpea por el suelo,	8 (Of the clean animals and the animals that are not clean, of the birds and all that creeps along theground,
9 sendas parejas de cada especie entraron con Noé en el arca, machos y hembras, como había mandado Dios a Noé.)	9 one pair boarded the ark with Noah, one male and one female, as God had commanded Noah.)
10 A la semana, las aguas del diluvio vinieron sobre la tierra.	10 Seven days later the waters of the flood appeared on earth.
11 El año seiscientos de la vida de Noé, el mes segundo, el día diecisiete del mes, en ese día saltaron todas las fuentes del gran abismo, y las compuertas del cielo se abrieron,	11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, and on the seventeenth day of themonth, that very day al the springs of the great deep burst through, and the sluices of heaven opened.
12 y estuvo descargando la lluvia sobre la tierra cuarenta días y cuarenta noches.	12 And heavy rain fel on earth for forty days and forty nights.
13 En aquel mismo día entró Noé en el arca, como también los hijos de Noé, Sem, Cam y Jafet, y la mujer de Noé, y las tres mujeres de sus hijos;	13 That very day Noah and his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth boarded the ark, with Noah's wife and thethree wives of his sons,
14 y con ellos los animales de cada especie, los ganados de cada especie, las sierpes de cada especie que reptan sobre la tierra, y las aves de cada especie: toda clase de pájaros y seres alados;	14 and with them every species of wild animal, every species of cattle, every species of creeping thingsthat creep along the ground, every species of bird, everything that flies, everything with wings.
15 entraron con Noé en el arca sendas parejas de toda carne en que hay aliento de vida,	15 One pair of al that was alive and had the breath of life boarded the ark with Noah,
16 y los que iban entrando eran macho y hembra de toda carne, como Dios se lo había mandado. Y Yahveh cerró la puerta detrás de Noé.	16 and those that went aboard were a male and female of all that was alive, as God had commandedhim. Then Yahweh shut him in.
17 El diluvio duró cuarenta días sobre la tierra. Crecieron las aguas y levantaron el arca que se alzó de encima de la tierra.	17 The flood lasted forty days on earth. The waters swelled, lifting the ark until it floated off the ground.
18 Subió el nivel de las aguas y crecieron mucho sobre la tierra, mientras el arca flotaba sobre la superficie de las aguas.	18 The waters rose, swel ing higher above the ground, and the ark drifted away over the waters.
19 Subió el nivel de las aguas mucho, muchísimo sobre la tierra, y quedaron cubiertos los montes más altos que hay debajo del cielo.	19 The waters rose higher and higher above the ground until al the highest mountains under the wholeof heaven were submerged.
20 Quince codos por encima subió el nivel de las aguas quedando cubiertos los montes.	20 The waters reached their peak fifteen cubits above the submerged mountains.
21 Pereció toda carne: lo que repta por la tierra, junto con aves, ganados, animales y todo lo que pulula sobre la tierra, y toda la humanidad.	21 And al living things that stirred on earth perished; birds, cattle, wild animals, all the creaturesswarming over the earth, and all human beings.
22 Todo cuanto respira hálito vital, todo cuanto existe en tierra firme, murió.	22 Everything with the least breath of life in its nostrils, everything on dry land, died.
23 Yahveh exterminó todo ser que había sobre la haz del suelo, desde el hombre hasta los ganados, hasta las sierpes y hasta las aves del cielo: todos fueron exterminados de la tierra, quedando sólo Noé y los que con él estaban en el arca.	23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out, people, animals, creeping things and birds;they were wiped off the earth and only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.
24 Las aguas inundaron la tierra por espacio de 150 días.	24 The waters maintained their level on earth for a hundred and fifty days.
