1 Document sur les origines de Jésus Christ, fils de David et fils d’Abraham.	1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
2 Abraham est le père d’Isaac; Isaac, le père de Jacob; Jacob, le père de Juda et ses frères;	2 Abraham begot Isaac. And Isaac begot Jacob. And Jacob begot Judas and his brethren.
3 Juda, le père de Farès et Zara, dont la mère est Tamar. Farès est le père d’Esrom; Esrom, le père d’Aram;	3 And Judas begot Phares and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begot Esron. And Esron begot Aram.
4 Aram, le père d’Aminadab; Aminadab, le père de Nahasson; Nahasson, le père de Salmon;	4 And Aram begot Aminadab. And Aminadab begot Naasson. And Naasson begot Salmon.
5 Salmon, le père de Booz, et Rahab est sa mère; Booz est le père d’Obed, et Ruth est sa mère; Obed est le père de Jessé;	5 And Salmon begot Booz of Rahab. And Booz begot Obed of Ruth. And Obed begot Jesse.
6 Jessé, le père du roi David. David est le père de Salomon, dont la mère avait été la femme d’Urie.	6 And Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her that had been the wife of Urias.
7 Salomon est le père de Roboam; Roboam, le père d’Abias; Abias, le père d’Asaf;	7 And Solomon begot Roboam. And Roboam begot Abia. And Abia begot Asa.
8 Asaf, le père de Josaphat; Josaphat, le père de Joram; Joram, le père d’Ozias;	8 And Asa begot Josaphat. And Josaphat begot Joram. And Joram begot Ozias.
9 Ozias, le père de Joatam; Joatam, le père d’Akaz; Akaz, le père d’Ézékias;	9 And Ozias begot Joatham. And Joatham begot Achaz. And Achaz begot Ezechias.
10 Ézékias, le père de Manassé; Manassé, le père d’Amon; Amon, le père de Josias;	10 And Ezechias begot Manasses. And Manesses begot Amon. And Amon begot Josias.
11 Josias, le père de Jékonias et de ses frères avant l’exil à Babylone.	11 And Josias begot Jechonias and his brethren in the transmigration of Babylon.
12 Après l’exil à Babylone, c’est Jékonias, père de Salatiel; Salatiel, le père de Zorobabel;	12 And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechonias begot Salathiel. And Salathiel begot Zorobabel.
13 Zorobabel, le père d’Abioud; Abioud, le père d’Éliakim; Éliakim, le père d’Azor;	13 And Zorobabel begot Abiud. And Abiud begot Eliacim. And Eliacim begot Azor.
14 Azor, le père de Sadoq; Sadoq, le père d’Akim; Akim, le père d’Élioud;	14 And Azor begot Sadoc. And Sadoc begot Achim. And Achim begot Eliud.
15 Élioud, le père d’Éléazar; Éléazar, le père de Mathan; Mathan, le père de Jacob;	15 And Eliud begot Eleazar. And Eleazar begot Mathan. And Mathan begot Jacob.
16 Jacob, le père de Joseph, l’époux de Marie, et c’est d’elle qu’est né Jésus qu’on appelle Christ.	16 And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Donc au total, cela fait quatorze générations d’Abraham à David, quatorze générations de David jusqu’à l’exil à Babylone et quatorze générations depuis l’exil à Babylone jusqu’au Christ.	17 So all the generations, from Abraham to David, are fourteen generations. And from David to the transmigration of Babylon, are fourteen generations: and from the transmigration of Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Voici quelle fut l’origine de Jésus, le Christ. Sa mère, Marie, avait été donnée en mariage à Joseph, mais avant qu’ils ne vivent ensemble, elle se trouva enceinte par une intervention de l’Esprit Saint.	18 Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.
19 Joseph, son mari, pensa à la renvoyer. Mais c’était un homme droit et il voulait agir discrètement pour ne pas lui faire du tort.	19 Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.
20 Comme il en était préoccupé, un ange du Seigneur vint se manifester à lui dans un rêve et lui dit: "Joseph, fils de David, n’aie pas peur de prendre chez toi Marie, ton épouse. La voilà enceinte par l’intervention de l’Esprit Saint;	20 But while he thought on these things, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the Holy Ghost.
21 elle mettra au monde un fils et tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus; car c’est lui qui sauvera son peuple de ses péchés.”	21 And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Tout cela fut donc l’accomplissement de ce que le Seigneur avait dit par la bouche du prophète:	22 Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which the Lord spoke by the prophet, saying:
23 Voici que la vierge est enceinte et met au monde un fils. On l’appellera Emmanuel, ce qui veut dire: Dieu-avec-nous.	23 Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Quand Joseph se réveilla, il fit ce que l’ange lui avait ordonné et il prit avec lui son épouse.	24 And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife.
25 Il n’avait donc pas eu de relations avec elle quand elle mit au monde un fils; il lui donna le nom de Jésus.	25 And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
