Amós 2

1 Oráculo do Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Moab, não mudarei meu decreto. Porque queimou os ossos do rei de Edom até reduzi-los a cal,	1 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Moab, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has burned the bones of the king of Idumea, all the way to ashes.
2 porei fogo a Moab, e ele consumirá os palácios de Cariot. No tumulto perecerá Moab, entre gritos de guerra e sons de trombeta.	2 And I will send a fire onto Moab, and it will devour the buildings of Kerioth. And Moab will die with a noise, with the blare of a trumpet.
3 Exterminarei o seu juiz e farei perecer com ele todos os chefes, diz o Senhor.	3 And I will destroy the judge in their midst, and I will execute all his leaders with him, says the Lord.
4 Oráculo do Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Judá, não mudarei meu decreto. Porque desprezaram a lei do Senhor e não observaram seus mandamentos, e porque se deixaram transviar por seus falsos deuses, que já seus pais tinham honrado,	4 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Judah, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has rejected the law of the Lord and has not kept his commandments. For their idols, which their fathers followed, have deceived them.
5 porei fogo a Judá, e ele devorará os palácios de Jerusalém.	5 And I will send a fire onto Judah, and it will devour the buildings of Jerusalem.
6 Oráculo do Senhor: Por causa do triplo e do quádruplo crime de Israel, não mudarei meu decreto. Porque vendem o justo por dinheiro, e o pobre por um par de sandálias,	6 Thus says the Lord: For three wicked deeds of Israel, and for four, I will not convert him, in so far as he has sold the just for silver and the poor for shoes.
7 porque esmagam no pó da terra a cabeça do pobre, e transviam os pequenos, porque o filho e o pai dormem com a mesma jovem, o que é uma profanação do meu santo nome,	7 They grind the heads of the poor into the dust of the earth, and they divert the way of the humble. And the son, as well as his father, have gone to the same girl, so that they outrage my holy name.
8 porque se estendem ao pé de cada altar sobre vestes recebidas em penhor, e bebem no templo do seu Deus o vinho dos que foram multados.	8 And they have lain on garments taken in pledge next to every altar. And they drank the wine of the damned in the house of their God.
9 E, todavia, fui eu que exterminei diante deles os amorreus, cuja estatura se igualava à dos cedros, e que eram fortes como os carvalhos; destruí seus frutos de cima e suas riquezas de baixo;	9 Yet I exterminated the Amorites before their face, whose height was like the height of cedars, and whose strength was like the oak. And I crushed his fruit from above and his roots below.
10 fui eu que vos tirei do Egito e vos conduzi, através do deserto, durante quarenta anos, para vos dar a posse da terra dos amorreus;	10 It is I who caused you to ascend from the land of Egypt, and I led you in the wilderness for forty years, so that you might possess the land of the Amorite.
11 suscitei profetas dentre os vossos filhos, e nazarenos dentre os vossos jovens; não é assim, filhos de Israel? - Oráculo do Senhor.	11 And I stirred up prophets from your sons, and Nazirites from your young men. Is it not so, sons of Israel, says the Lord?
12 Mas vós fizestes beber vinho aos nazarenos, e proibistes aos profetas que profetizassem.	12 Yet you would offer wine to the Nazirites, and you would command the prophets, saying: “Do not prophesy.”
13 Pois bem! Eis que eu vos vou fazer ranger como um carro carregado de feno.	13 Behold, I will creak under you, just as a wagon creaks that is laden with hay.
14 Não haverá mais fuga possível para o homem ágil, o forte não encontrará mais sua força, o valente não salvará sua vida,	14 And flight will perish from the swift, and the strong will not maintain his strength, and the healthy will not save his life.
15 o arqueiro não poderá resistir, nem o homem de pés ligeiros poderá escapar, nem o cavaleiro salvará sua vida,	15 And one holding the bow will not stand firm, and the swift of foot will not be saved, and the rider on the horse will not save his life.
16 e o mais corajoso entre os valentes fugirá nu, naquele dia - oráculo do Senhor.	16 And the stout of heart among the strong will flee away naked in that day, says the Lord.
