Livro dos Salmos 91

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Tu que habitas sob a proteção do Altíssimo, que moras à sombra do Onipotente,	1 You who live in the secret place of Elyon, spend your nights in the shelter of Shaddai,
2 dize ao Senhor: Sois meu refúgio e minha cidadela, meu Deus, em que eu confio.	2 saying to Yahweh, 'My refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust!'
3 É ele quem te livrará do laço do caçador, e da peste perniciosa.	3 He rescues you from the snare of the fowler set on destruction;
4 Ele te cobrirá com suas plumas, sob suas asas encontrarás refúgio. Sua fidelidade te será um escudo de proteção.	4 he covers you with his pinions, you find shelter under his wings. His constancy is shield andprotection.
5 Tu não temerás os terrores noturnos, nem a flecha que voa à luz do dia,	5 You need not fear the terrors of night, the arrow that flies in the daytime,
6 nem a peste que se propaga nas trevas, nem o mal que grassa ao meio-dia.	6 the plague that stalks in the darkness, the scourge that wreaks havoc at high noon.
7 Caiam mil homens à tua esquerda e dez mil à tua direita, tu não serás atingido.	7 Though a thousand fal at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, you yourself wil remainunscathed.
8 Porém verás com teus próprios olhos, contemplarás o castigo dos pecadores,	8 You have only to keep your eyes open to see how the wicked are repaid,
9 porque o Senhor é teu refúgio. Escolheste, por asilo, o Altíssimo.	9 you who say, 'Yahweh my refuge!' and make Elyon your fortress.
10 Nenhum mal te atingirá, nenhum flagelo chegará à tua tenda,	10 No disaster can overtake you, no plague come near your tent;
11 porque aos seus anjos ele mandou que te guardem em todos os teus caminhos.	11 he has given his angels orders about you to guard you wherever you go.
12 Eles te sustentarão em suas mãos, para que não tropeces em alguma pedra.	12 They will carry you in their arms in case you trip over a stone.
13 Sobre serpente e víbora andarás, calcarás aos pés o leão e o dragão.	13 You wil walk upon wild beast and adder, you wil trample young lions and snakes.
14 Pois que se uniu a mim, eu o livrarei; e o protegerei, pois conhece o meu nome.	14 'Since he clings to me I rescue him, I raise him high, since he acknowledges my name.
15 Quando me invocar, eu o atenderei; na tribulação estarei com ele. Hei de livrá-lo e o cobrirei de glória.	15 He cal s to me and I answer him: in distress I am at his side, I rescue him and bring him honour.
16 Será favorecido de longos dias, e mostrar-lhe-ei a minha salvação.	16 I shal satisfy him with long life, and grant him to see my salvation.'
