Isaiah 58

1 Cry out! Cease not! Exalt your voice like a trumpet, and announce to my people their wicked acts, and to the house of Jacob their sins.	1 Grida, e non ristare; ed esalta la tua voce quasi come fosse una tromba, e annuncia al popolo mio le loro fellonie, e alla casa di Iacob lo loro peccato.
2 For they also seek me, from day to day, and they are willing to know my ways, like a nation which has done justice and has not abandoned the judgment of their God. They petition me for judgments of justice. They are willing to draw near to God.	2 Però che loro (addomandano e) cercano me tutto dì, e vogliono sapere le mie vie, quasi come gente la quale abbia fatto giustizia, e che non abbia abbandonato lo giudicio del suo Iddio; però che li giudicii e le giustizie fanno preghiera a me, e voglionsi appressare a Dio.
3 “Why have we fasted, and you have not taken notice? Why have we humbled our souls, and you have not acknowledged it?” Behold, in the day of your fasting, your own will is found, and you petition for payment from all your debtors.	3 Or perchè fu questo, che noi digiunammo, e tu non riguardasti; e adumiliammo le nostre anime, e tu non sapesti? Ecco che nel dì del vostro digiuno si trova la vostra volontade, e voi richiedete tutti li vostri debitori.
4 Behold, you fast with strife and contention, and you strike with the fist impiously. Do not choose to fast as you have done even to this day. Then your outcry will be heard on high.	4 Ecco che voi digiunate per fare lite e contenzione, e percotete colla mano malvagiamente. Adunque non vogliate digiunare più come voi avete digiunato insino a questo dì (cioè insino a questo tempo), sì che lo vostro rumore (non) sia udito nell'altezza del cielo.
5 Is this a fast such as I have chosen: for a man to afflict his soul for a day, to contort his head in a circle, and to spread sackcloth and ashes? Should you call this a fast and a day acceptable to the Lord?	5 Or così fatto è lo digiuno il quale io hoe eletto, cioè che l'uomo affligga per tutto lo dì l'anima sua? or (non) si vuole torcere lo suo capo come una coreggia, e vestirsi di sacco, e mettersi in capo la cenere? or (non) chiamerai tu questo, digiuno e dì (molto) accettabile a Dio?
6 Is not this, instead, the kind of fast that I have chosen? Release the constraints of impiety; relieve the burdens that oppress; freely forgive those who are broken; and break apart every burden.	6 Or non è questo, che io hoe eletto, maggior digiuno? Sciogli li legami della (tua) malvagitade, e sciogli li fascicoli i quali abbattono (te); lascia coloro liberi i quali sono tutti rotti, e rompi ogni (tuo) carico.
7 Break your bread with the hungry, and lead the destitute and the homeless into your house. When you see someone naked, cover him, and do not despise your own flesh.	7 Rompi lo pane allo affamato, e mena nella tua casa i bisognosi e li sviati; quando vedi lo ignudo, ricoprilo, e non spregiare la tua carne.
8 Then your light will break forth like the morning, and your health will improve quickly, and your justice will go before your face, and the glory of the Lord will gather you up.	8 Allora uscirà fuori lo tuo lume, come è bella la mattina, e la tua sanitade nascerà più tosto, e la tua giustizia andrà innanzi alla tua faccia, e la gloria di Dio raccoglierà te.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will heed; you will cry out, and he will say, “Here I am,” if you take away the chains from your midst, and cease to point your finger and to speak what is not beneficial.	9 Allora tu chiamerai, e lo Signore esaudirà te; allora tu griderai, ed egli dirae: io sono presente, (però ch' io sono tuo misericordioso Iddio), se tu averai tolto del mezzo di te la catena, e rimarra'ti di distendere lo dito, e parlare quello che non giova.
10 When you pour out your life for the hungry, and you satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will rise up in darkness, and your darkness will be like the midday.	10 Conciosia cosa che tu abbia data l'anima al povero affamato, e averai riempiuta l'anima afflitta, la tua luce nascerà nelle tenebre, e le tue tenebre saranno come nello mezzo dì.
11 And the Lord will give you rest continually, and he will fill your soul with splendor, and he will free your bones, and you will be like a watered garden and like a fountain of water whose waters will not fail.	11 E lo Signore (Iddio tuo) darà lo riposo a te sempre, ed empierà di splendore la tua anima, libererà le tue ossa; e sarai quasi come un orto adacquato, e come fonte d' acque, le cui acque non vengono meno.
12 And places that have been desolate for ages will be built up by you. You will raise a foundation for generation after generation. And you will be called the repairer of hedges, who turns the roadways into quiet places.	12 E in te saranno edificati li deserti de' populi; e risusciterai li fondamenti delle generazioni; e sarai chiamato edificatore delle siepi, e rivolgente le vie (delle malvagitadi) in quiete.
13 If you restrain your foot on the Sabbath, from doing your own will on my holy day, and if you call the Sabbath delightful, and the Holy of the Lord glorious, and if you glorify him, while you do not act according to your own ways, and your own will is not found, not even to speak a word,	13 Se tu rivolgerai lo tuo piede dal sabbato, e che tu facci la tua volontade nello mio santo dì, e averai chiamato lo sabbato delicato, e lo santo di Dio glorioso, e che tu abbi dato gloria a lui, mentre che tu non fai le tue vie, e non si trova la tua volontà (nel dì mio santo), che tu parli pure una parola;
14 then you will find delight in the Lord, and I will take you up, above the heights of the earth, and I will nourish you with the inheritance of Jacob, your father. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.	14 allora tu averai diletto in Dio, e leverotti in alto sopra l'altezza della terra, e darò per cibo a te la ereditade di Iacob tuo padre; e questo parlò (e disse) la bocca di Dio.
