Isaiah 48

1 Listen to these things, O house of Jacob, you who are called by the name of Israel, and who went forth from the waters of Judah. You swear by the name of the Lord and you call to mind the God of Israel, but not in truth, and not in justice.	1 Voi della casa di Iacob, udite queste cose, i quali siete chiamati per nome Israel, e siete usciti delle acque di Giuda; i quali giurate nel nome del Signore, e del Dio d' Israel vi ricordate non nella verità e nella giustizia.
2 For they have been called from the holy city, and they have been founded upon the God of Israel. The Lord of hosts is his name.	2 Però che sono chiamati della cittade santa e sono fermati sopra lo Iddio d'Israel; e lo suo nome si è lo Iddio delli esèrciti.
3 From that time, I announced the former things. They went forth from my mouth, and I have caused them to be heard. I wrought these things suddenly, and they were fulfilled.	3 Io da quello innanzi annunciai a voi le prime cose, e uscirono della mia bocca, e fecile udire; io m' adoperai subitamente, e vennero.
4 For I knew that you are stubborn, and that your neck is like an iron sinew, and that your forehead is like brass.	4 Io seppi che tu eri duro, e lo tuo collo sì è di nervo e di ferro, e la tua fronte sì è di metallo.
5 From that time, I foretold to you. Before these things happened, I revealed them to you, lest you say: “My idols have accomplished these things, and my graven and molten images have commanded them.”	5 Io te lo dissi innanzi; dinanzi che avvenissono, lo annunciai a te, acciò che tu forse non dicessi: li miei idoli hanno fatto queste cose, e li miei intagli e le mie idolatrie le mandarono.
6 See all the things that you have heard. But were you the ones who announced them? From that time, I caused you to hear about new things, and you do not know how these were preserved.	6 Le cose che tu udisti, vedile tutte; ma voi non le annunciaste. Io feci udire le cose nuove, e anche ti sono riservate di quelle che tu non sai.
7 They are created now, and not in that time. And even before today, you did not hear of them; otherwise, you might say, “Behold, I knew them.”	7 Ora sono create, e non allora; innanzi lo dì, e non le udisti, acciò che forse tu non dichi: ecco io lo seppi.
8 You have neither heard, nor known, nor were your ears open in that time. For I knew that you would transgress greatly, and so I called you a transgressor from the womb.	8 E tu non le udisti, e non le aspettasti, nè allora fu aperta la tua orecchia; e io so che tu prevaricherai, e io ti chiamai transgressore dal ventre.
9 For the sake of my name, I will take the face of my fury far away. And for the sake of my praise, I will bridle you, lest you perish.	9 Io farò lo mio furore dalla lunga per cagione del mio nome; infrenerò te colla mia lode, acciò che tu non muoia.
10 Behold, I have refined you, but not like silver. I have chosen you for the furnace of poverty.	10 Ecco, io cossi te, ma non come argento; io elessi te nel camino della povertade.
11 For my sake, for my own sake, I will do it, so that I may not be blasphemed. For I will not give my glory to another.	11 Per me io faroe ch' io non sia biastemato; e non darò ad altrui la mia gloria.
12 Listen to me, O Jacob, and Israel whom I call. I am the same, I am the first, and I am the last.	12 O voi di Iacob, udite me, e Israel lo quale io (medesimo) chiamo; io sono, [e sono] primo e ultimo.
13 Also, my hand has founded the earth, and my right hand has measured the heavens. I will call them, and they will stand together.	13 E la mia mano fondò la terra, e la mia mano diritta misurò li cieli; io li chiamerò, e staranno insieme.
14 Gather together, all of you, and listen. Who among them has announced these things? The Lord has loved him; he will do his will with Babylon, and his arm is upon the Chaldeans.	14 Radunatevi tutti voi, e udite: quale di loro annunciò queste cose? Lo Signore amò lui, e farà la sua volontà in Babilonia, e adopererà lo suo braccio nelli Caldei.
15 I am, I have spoken, and I have called him. I have led him forward, and his way has been straight.	15 Ecco, io (però) hoe parlato, e chiamailo; e menailo nella sua via, la quale fu diritta.
16 Draw near to me, and listen to this. From the beginning, I have not spoken in secret. From the time before it happened, I was there. And now, the Lord God has sent me, and his Spirit.	16 Venite a me, e udite queste cose: io non parlai dal principio di nascoso; e nel tempo, innanzi che si facessono, io v'era; e ora lo mio Signore mi mandò, [e] lo suo spirito.
17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord, your God, who teaches you beneficial things, who guides you in the way that you walk.	17 Questo dice lo tuo ricomperatore, santo d'Israel: io sono lo tuo Iddio, il quale t' insegno le cose utili, e governo te nella via per la quale tu vai.
18 If only you had paid attention to my commandments! Your peace would have been like a river, and your justice would have been like the waves of the sea,	18 Volesse Iddio che tu avessi inteso li miei comandamenti! la tua pace sarebbe stata fatta come uno fiume, e la tua giustizia come li gorghi del mare.
19 and your offspring would have been like the sand, and the stock from your loins would have been like its stones. His name would not have passed away, nor would it have been worn away before my face.	19 E lo tuo seme (e la tua generazione) sarebbe istata come la rena, e la schiatta del tuo ventre come le pietre piccole (e pietre preziose) del mare; e lo suo nome non sarebbe stato morto, e non sarebbe stato fracassato nella mia faccia.
20 Depart from Babylon! Flee from the Chaldeans! Announce it with a voice of exultation. Cause it to be heard, and carry it even to the ends of the earth. Say: “The Lord has redeemed his servant Jacob.”	20 Uscite fuori di Babilonia, e fuggite da' Caldei; annunciate nella voce della allegrezza; fate udire questo, e portatelo insino alle estremità della terra, e dite lo Signore ha ricomperato lo suo servo Iacob.
21 They did not thirst in the desert, when he led them out. He produced water from the rock for them. For he split the rock, and the waters flowed out.	21 Non furono assetati nel deserto, quando egli li menava; e fece loro venire l'acqua della pietra; e spezzò la pietra, e le acque uscirono fuori.
22 “There is no peace for the impious,” says the Lord.	22 Dice lo Signore Iddio: non è pace allo malvagio.
