Proverbs 31

1 The words of king Lamuel. The vision by which his mother instructed him:	1 - Parole di Lamuele re di Massa, con cui sua madre l'istruì.
2 “What, O my beloved? What, O beloved of my womb? What, O beloved of my vows?	2 E che, o mio diletto, e che, diletto delle mie viscere, e che, diletto dei miei voti [ti dirò io]?
3 Do not give your substance to women, or your riches to overthrow kings.	3 Non dare alle donne i tuoi beni, nè le tue ricchezze a ciò ch'è la rovina dei re.
4 Not to kings, O Lamuel, not to kings give wine. For there are no secrets where drunkenness reigns.	4 Ai re no, Lamuele, ai re no non dare vino a bere, perchè non c'è nessun segreto dove regna l'ebrietà;
5 And perhaps they may drink and forget judgments, and alter the case of the sons of the poor.	5 e può accadere che bevano e si dimentichino delle leggi, e tradiscano la causa dei figli del povero.
6 Give strong drink to the grieving, and wine to those who are bitter in soul.	6 Date da bere agli afflittie vino a quelli che hanno il cuore amareggiato.
7 Let them drink, and forget their needs, and remember their sorrow no more.	7 Bevano e scordino la loro miseria e il loro travaglio più non rammentino.
8 Open your mouth for the mute and for all the cases of the sons who are passing through.	8 Apri la tua bocca in favore del muto e per la causa di tutti i figli di chi non è più.
9 Open your mouth, declare what is just, and do justice to the indigent and the poor.	9 Apri la tua bocca e discerni ciò che è giusto e fa' ragione al bisognoso ed al povero.
10 Who shall find a strong woman? Far away, and from the furthest parts, is her price.	10 Una brava donna chi la troverà? ha il pregio delle rarità dei più remoti confini.
11 The heart of her husband confides in her, and he will not be deprived of spoils.	11 Il cuor di suo marito in lei s'affida e non mancherà di nulla.
12 She will repay him with good, and not evil, all the days of her life.	12 Gli corrisponderà bene e non male, tutti i giorni di sua vita.
13 She has sought wool and flax, and she has worked these by the counsel of her hands.	13 Si procacciò la lana ed il lino e lavorò industriandosi colle sue mani.
14 She has become like a merchant’s ship, bringing her bread from far away.	14 Fatta simile alla nave d'un mercante: fa venire da lontano il suo sostentamento.
15 And she has risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and provisions to her maids.	15 S'alza che è ancor notte e appresta il vitto alla sua famiglia ed il cibo alle sue ancelle.
16 She has considered a field and bought it. From the fruit of her own hands, she has planted a vineyard.	16 Avvistò un campo e lo comprò; col frutto delle sue mani, piantò una vigna.
17 She has wrapped her waist with fortitude, and she has strengthened her arm.	17 Cinse di forza i suoi fianchie ingagliardì il suo braccio.
18 She has tasted and seen that her tasks are good; her lamp shall not be extinguished at night.	18 Con gusto vide che i suoi negozi vanno bene; di notte la sua lucerna non si spegnerà.
19 She has put her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.	19 Pone mano a lavori utilie le sue dita strinsero il fuso.
20 She has opened her hand to the needy, and she has extended her hands to the poor.	20 Allargò la mano al bisognoso e tese le palme al povero.
21 She shall not fear, in the cold of snow, for her household. For all those of her household have been clothed two-fold.	21 Non teme, per la sua casa, il freddo della neve, perchè tutti di sua famiglia hanno vesti doppie.
22 She has made embroidered clothing for herself. Fine linen and purple is her garment.	22 Si è fatta una veste ricamata, è bisso e porpora il suo indumento.
23 Her husband is noble at the gates, when he sits among the senators of the land.	23 Il marito alle porte è riverito, quando siede con gli anziani del pa ese.
24 She has made finely woven cloth and sold it, and she has delivered a waistband to the Canaanite.	24 Lavorò un manto e lo vendette, e una cintura che consegnò al mercante.
25 Strength and elegance are her clothing, and she will laugh in the final days.	25 Fortezza e decoro è la sua veste e sorride del giorno avvenire.
26 She has opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.	26 Aprì la sua bocca alla saggezza e sulla sua lingua è la legge della bontà.
27 She has considered the paths of her household, and she has not eaten her bread in idleness.	27 Essa stessa sorveglia gli andamenti di casa sua e non mangia il pane nell'oziosità.
28 Her sons rose up and predicted great happiness; her husband rose up and praised her.	28 Sorsero i suoi figli e la proclamarono sommamente beata, suo marito anche è un elogio per lei:
29 Many daughters have gathered together riches; you have surpassed them all.	29 «Molte figliuole raccolsero dovizia, ma tu le hai tutte superate».
30 Charm is false, and beauty is vain. The woman who fears the Lord, the same shall be praised.	30 Fallace è la grazia e vana la beltà; la donna che teme Dio, quella avrà lode.
31 Give to her from the fruit of her own hands. And let her works praise her at the gates.	31 Rendete omaggio al frutto delle sue mani, e le sue azioni la celebrino alle porte.
