Psalms 78

1 A Psalm of Asaph. O God, the Gentiles have entered into your inheritance; they have polluted your holy temple. They have set Jerusalem as a place to tend fruit trees.	1 - Salmo di Asaf. O Dio, hanno invaso le genti la tua eredità, han contaminato il tuo santo tempio, han ridotto Gerusalemme a un mucchio di rovine!
2 They have placed the dead bodies of your servants as food for the birds of the sky, the flesh of your saints for the beasts of the earth.	2 Han buttato i cadaveri de' tuoi serviin pasto agli uccelli del cielo, le carni de' tuoi santi alle fiere della terra.
3 They have poured out their blood like water all around Jerusalem, and there was no one who would bury them.	3 Han versato il loro sangue com'acqua, intorno a Gerusalemme, e non v'era chi seppellisse.
4 We have become a disgrace to our neighbors, an object of ridicule and mockery to those who are around us.	4 Siam diventati un obbrobrio per i nostri vicini, beffa e scherno per quei che ci stanno all'intorno.
5 How long, O Lord? Will you be angry until the end? Will your zeal be kindled like a fire?	5 Sino a quando, o Signore, sarai sempre adirato? arderà come fuoco il tuo sdegno?
6 Pour out your wrath among the Gentiles, who have not known you, and upon the kingdoms that have not invoked your name.	6 Riversa l'ira tua sulle genti che non ti conosconoe sui regni che il tuo nome non invocano!
7 For they have devoured Jacob, and they have desolated his place.	7 Perchè han divorato Giacobbe e la sua dimora han devastato.
8 Do not remember our iniquities of the past. May your mercies quickly intercept us, for we have become exceedingly poor.	8 Non ti ricordare delle iniquità nostre antiche, [ma] presto ci prevengano le tue misericordie, perchè miseri noi siamo oltre modo!
9 Help us, O God, our Savior. And free us, Lord, for the glory of your name. And forgive us our sins for the sake of your name.	9 Aiutaci, o Dio salvatore nostro, e per la gloria del nome tuo, o Signore, liberaci, e sii propizio a' nostri peccati a motivo del tuo nome.
10 Let them not say among the Gentiles, “Where is their God?” And may your name become known among the nations before our eyes. For the retribution of your servants’ blood, which has been poured out:	10 Perchè non si dica tra le Genti: «Dov'è il loro Dio?». Nota sia tra le Genti, davanti ai nostri occhi, la vendetta del sangue sparso de' tuoi servi.
11 may the groans of the shackled enter before you. According to the greatness of your arm, take possession of the sons of those who have been killed.	11 Penetri al tuo cospetto il gemito de' prigionieri: con la potenza del tuo braccio salvai figli della morte.
12 And repay our neighbors sevenfold within their sinews. It is the reproach of the same ones who brought reproach against you, O Lord.	12 E rendi a' nostri vicini, sette volte tanto nel loro seno, l'oltraggio con cui t'hanno oltraggiato, o Signore!
13 But we are your people and the sheep of your pasture: we will give thanks to you in all ages. From generation to generation, we will announce your praise.	13 E noi, tuo popolo e pecorelle del tuo pascolo, [ti] celebreremo in eterno, di generazione in generazione proclameremo la tua lode!
