Psalms 73

1 The understanding of Asaph. O God, why have you rejected us to the end. Why has your fury become enraged over the sheep of your pasture?	1 Psaume d’Asaf. Oui, Dieu est bon pour Israël: je le dis pour ceux qui ont le cœur pur.
2 Be mindful of your congregation, which you have possessed from the beginning. You redeemed the scepter of your inheritance, mount Zion, in which you have dwelt.	2 Pourtant, pour un peu mon pied achoppait, un rien et mes pas glissaient.
3 Lift up your hands against their arrogance in the end. How great the malice of the enemy has been in the sanctuary!	3 J’en étais à envier les gens sans foi car je voyais le bonheur des méchants.
4 And those who hate you have been glorified, in the midst of your solemnity. They have set up their own signs as a proof,	4 Ils ne connaissent pas la souffrance, ils sont bien nourris, leur corps est sain.
5 as if it had been issued from on high; yet they did not understand. As in a forest of chopped wood,	5 La peine de l’homme ne les touche pas, ils ne sont pas éprouvés comme les humains.
6 they have cut down the entrances themselves. With axe and hatchet, they have brought it down.	6 De là leur orgueil: ils le portent en collier; la violence est le vêtement qui les couvre,
7 They have set fire to your Sanctuary. They have polluted the tabernacle of your name on earth.	7 leur graisse sue la méchanceté et leur cœur déborde d’inventions mauvaises.
8 They have said in their heart, the whole group of them together: “Let us cause all the feast days of God to cease from the land.	8 Ils ricanent, ils cherchent comment nuire, ils parlent de très haut, et c’est pour tromper.
9 We have not seen our proof; there is now no prophet. And he will no longer know us.”	9 Ils savent tout du ciel, et la terre pour eux n’a pas de secret.
10 How long, O God, will the enemy place blame? Is the adversary to provoke your name until the end?	10 C’est pourquoi mon peuple penche vers eux, car on ne voit chez eux que réussite.
11 Why do you turn your hand away, even your right hand, from the midst of your sinews, until the end?	11 Et l’on dit: “Dieu voit-il? Le Très-Haut, en a-t-il connaissance?”
12 But God is our king before all ages. He has wrought salvation in the midst of the earth.	12 Ces gens-là sont mauvais et sans aucun problème ils entassent leurs richesses.
13 In your virtue, you confirmed the sea. You crushed the heads of the serpents in the waters.	13 Alors, à quoi bon garder, moi, un cœur pur, et conserver les mains nettes,
14 You have broken the heads of the serpent. You have given him as food for the people of the Ethiopians.	14 si tout le jour je reçois des coups et chaque matin une nouvelle leçon?
15 You have disrupted the fountains and the torrents. You have dried up the rivers of Ethan.	15 Mais comment dire: “Je parlerai leur langage”? Ce serait trahir le parti de tes fils.
16 Yours is the day, and yours is the night. You have made the morning light and the sun.	16 Je cherchais à y voir clair, et c’était pour moi chose difficile.
17 You have made all the limits of the earth. The summer and the spring were formed by you.	17 Mais un jour je suis entré dans les secrets de Dieu, et j’ai compris comment ils terminent.
18 Be mindful of this: the enemy placed blame against the Lord, and a foolish people has incited against your name.	18 Tu les mets sur un terrain glissant, puis tu les précipites dans l’abîme.
19 Do not hand over to beasts the souls that confess to you; and do not forget the souls of your poor until the end.	19 Comment, les voilà ruinés? Comme c’est vite fait! Ils ne sont plus, tout a fini dans l’épouvante.
20 Consider your covenant. For those who have been darkened upon the earth have been filled by the iniquity of the houses.	20 Comme un songe au réveil, Seigneur, tu t’es réveillé et tu as chassé leur image.
21 Do not allow the humble to be turned away in confusion. The poor and the needy will praise your name.	21 Quand j’étais aigri, aiguillonné par mes ressentiments,
22 Rise up, O God, judge your own case. Call to mind the accusations against you, which are made by the foolish all day long.	22 c’était de la bêtise, non de la sagesse, je ne te comprenais guère plus que les bêtes.
23 Do not forget the voices of your adversaries. The arrogance of those who hate you rises up continually.	23 Ne suis-je pas en tout temps avec toi? Tu m’as saisi de la main droite,
	24 tu me guides selon ton dessein, et ta Gloire derrière elle m’entraîne.
	25 Que pourrais-je avoir aux cieux, si ce n’est toi, et à part toi, je ne désire rien sur la terre.
	26 Ma chair et mon cœur se consument pour toi, mon Dieu, mon roc, qui es mien à jamais.
	27 Nul doute: qui s’éloigne de toi se perd, tu réduis à rien ceux qui te sont infidèles.
	28 Pour moi rien de meilleur que d’être près de Dieu; j’ai fait du Seigneur mon refuge et je redirai tes œuvres aux portes de Sion.
