1 Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy is with every generation.	1 Alleluia Alleluia. Confessate al Signore, per ch' egli è buono; per che sempre sarà la misericordia sua.
2 Let those who have been redeemed by the Lord say so: those whom he redeemed from the hand of the enemy and gathered from the regions,	2 Dicano chi sono ricomprati dal Signore, li quali lui ricomperò dalla mano del nemico; raunolli delle regioni,
3 from the rising of the sun and its setting, from the north and from the sea.	3 da levante e ponente, da aquilone e il mare.
4 They wandered into solitude in a waterless place. They did not find the way of the city to be their dwelling place.	4 Errarono nel deserto, e nella incognita via; non trovorono la via della abitata città,
5 They were hungry, and they were thirsty. Their soul fainted within them.	5 affamati e assetati; loro anime vennero meno.
6 And they cried out to the Lord in tribulation, and he rescued them in their necessity.	6 E gridorono al Signore essendo tribulati; e liberolli dalle loro necessità.
7 And he led them in the right way, so that they might go forth to a city of habitation.	7 E menolli nella via dritta; acciò andassero nella città abitabile.
8 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	8 Al Signore confessino le sue misericordie, e le sue maraviglie alli figliuoli delli uomini.
9 For he has satisfied the empty soul, and he has satisfied the hungry soul with good things:	9 Per che ha saziato l'anima bisognosa; e l' anima affamata ha saziato di beni.
10 those sitting in darkness and in the shadow of death, shackled by extreme poverty and by iron.	10 A' sedenti in tenebre e in ombra di morte; legati in mendicità e in ferro.
11 For they exasperated the eloquence of God, and they irritated the deliberation of the Most High.	11 Per che provocorono li parlari del Signore; e irritorono il consiglio dell' Altissimo.
12 And their heart was brought low with hardships. They were weakened, and there was no one to help them.	12 E loro cuore ha sbassato in fatiche; e sono infirmati, e non fue chi li aiutasse.
13 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he freed them from their distress.	13 Ed essendo tribulati, gridorono al Signore; e liberolli di necessità loro.
14 And he led them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and he broke apart their chains.	14 E menolli fuori dalle tenebre e ombra di morte; e roppe li loro legami.
15 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	15 Al Signore confessino le misericordie sue; e le sue maraviglie alli figliuoli delli uomini.
16 For he has crushed the gates of brass and broken the iron bars.	16 Per che ha spezzato le porte di metallo; e ha rotto li catenacci di ferro.
17 He has taken them up, from the way of their iniquity. For they were brought low, because of their injustices.	17 Ricevetteli dalla via di loro iniquità; per che furono umiliati per le sue [in]giustizie.
18 Their soul abhorred all food, and they drew near even to the gates of death.	18 La loro anima ebbe in abominazione ogni cibo; e appressoronsi insino alle porte della morte.
19 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he delivered them in their necessity.	19 Ed essendo tribulati, gridorono al Signore; e liberolli di loro necessità.
20 He sent his word, and he healed them, and he rescued them from their utter destruction.	20 Mandò la sua parola, e sanolli; scampolli dalle loro morti.
21 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	21 Al Signore confessino le sue misericordie; e le sue maraviglie a' figliuoli delli uomini.
22 And let them offer sacrifice with the sacrifice of praise, and let them announce his works in exultation.	22 E sacrificaranno il sacrificio di lode; e in allegrezza raccontaranno l' opere sue.
23 Those who descend to the sea in ships, making their livelihood in the great waters:	23 Quelli che descendono nel mare con le navi, facenti l'opera in molte acque,
24 these have seen the works of the Lord and his wonders in the deep.	24 egli vedono le opere del Signore, e le maraviglie sue nel profondo.
25 He spoke: and a windstorm stood up, and its waves were exalted.	25 Disse, e fermossi il spirito della tempesta; ed elevoronsi loro onde.
26 They ascend even to the heavens, and they descend even to the abyss. Their soul will waste away in distress.	26 Ascendono insino a' cieli, e descendono insino alli abissi; le loro anime ne' mali a meno venivano.
27 They were troubled, and they moved like a drunkard, and all their wisdom was consumed.	27 Turboronsi, e moveronsi come ebrio; e ogni loro sapienza fu divorata.
28 And they cried out to the Lord in their tribulation, and he led them out of their distress.	28 Ed essendo tribulati, gridorono al Signore; e cavolli delle loro necessità.
29 And he replaced the storm with a breeze, and its waves were stilled.	29 E commutò la sua tempesta in vento; e cessorono le onde sue.
30 And they were joyful that it was stilled, and he led them into the haven that they desired.	30 E rallegroronsi, per che erano cessate; e menolli nel porto secondo la loro volontà.
31 Let his mercies confess to the Lord, and let his miracles confess to the sons of men.	31 Al Signore confessino le sue misericordie; e le sue maraviglie alli figliuoli delli uomini.
32 And let them exalt him in the Church of the people, and praise him in the chair of the elders.	32 Ed esaltino quello nella chiesa del popolo; e lodino nella sedia de' vecchi.
33 He has placed rivers in the desert and sources of water in dry places,	33 Puose li fiumi nel deserto, e il corso dell' acque per la sete.
34 a fruit-bearing land in the midst of brine, before the malice of those who dwell in it.	34 Puose la terra fruttifera nel salso umore, per la malizia delli suoi abitanti.
35 He has placed a desert in the midst of pools of waters, and a land without water in the midst of sources of water.	35 Puose il deserto ne' laghi d'acque; e la terra senza acqua in corso d'acque.
36 And he has gathered the hungry together there, and they constructed a city of habitation.	36 E quivi collocò li affamati; e ordinorono la città.
37 And they sowed fields and planted vineyards, and they produced the fruit of nativity.	37 E seminorono li campi, e piantorono le vigne; e fecero il frutto della natività (sua).
38 And he blessed them, and they were multiplied exceedingly. And he did not diminish their beasts of burden.	38 E benedisseli, e molto moltiplicorono; e loro animali non sminuirono.
39 And they became few, and they were afflicted by the tribulation of evils and of sorrow.	39 E sono fatti pochi; e travagliati dalla tribulazione e dolore de' cattivi.
40 Contempt was poured over their leaders, and he caused them to wander in an impassable place, and not on the way.	40 Sparta è la contenzione sopra li principi; feceli andare dove non era via.
41 And he helped the poor out of destitution, and he stationed families like sheep.	41 E aiutò il povero dalla povertà; e puose come pecore le famiglie.
42 The upright will see, and they will rejoice. And every iniquity will block its mouth.	42 Vederanno li diritti, e rallegraransi; e ogni iniquità serrerà la bocca sua.
43 Who is wise and will keep these things? And who will understand the mercies of the Lord?	43 Quale è quel savio, che osserverà queste cose, e intenderà le misericordie del Signore?
