Isaiah 7

1 In the days of Ahaz, king of Judah, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, king of Israel, son of Remaliah, went up to attack Jerusalem, but they were not able to conquer it.	1 Il arriva au temps d'Achaz, fils de Joathan, fils d'Ozias, roi de Juda, que Rasin, roi de Syrie, et Phacée, fils de Romélie, roi d'Israël, montèrent contre Jérusalem pour l'assiéger ; et ils ne purent s'en emparer.
2 When word came to the house of David that Aram was encamped in Ephraim, the heart of the king and heart of the people trembled, as the trees of the forest tremble in the wind.	2 Et l'on vint dire à la maison de David : La Syrie a fait sa jonction avec (trouvé un appui dans) Ephraïm. Et le cœur d'Achaz et le cœur de son peuple furent agités, comme les arbres des forêts sont agités par le vent.
3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah: Go out to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller's field,	3 Alors le Seigneur dit à Isaïe : Va au-devant d'Achaz, toi et Jasub, ton fils qui t'est resté, vers l'extrémité de l'aqueduc de la piscine supérieure, sur le chemin (la voie) du champ du foulon ;
4 and say to him: Take care you remain tranquil and do not fear; let not your courage fail before these two stumps of smoldering brands (the blazing anger of Rezin and the Arameans, and of the son of Remaliah),	4 et dis-lui : Aie (Ayez) soin de demeurer en paix (vous tenir en repos) ; ne crains (craignez) pas, et que ton (votre) cœur ne se trouble (tremble) pas devant ces deux bouts de tisons fumants, devant la colère (et la fureur) de Rasin, roi de Syrie, et du fils de Romélie ;
5 because of the mischief that Aram (Ephraim and the son of Remaliah) plots against you, saying,	5 de ce que la Syrie, Ephraïm et le fils de Romélie ont conspiré ensemble contre toi (vous), en disant :
6 "Let us go up and tear Judah asunder, make it our own by force, and appoint the son of Tabeel king there."	6 Montons contre Juda, faisons-lui la guerre, et rendons-nous-en les maîtres (faisons-le venir à nous), et établissons-y pour roi le fils de Tabéel.
7 Thus says the LORD: This shall not stand, it shall not be!	7 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu : Cela ne subsistera pas, et (cela) ne sera (même) pas ;
8 Damascus is the capital of Aram, and Rezin the head of Damascus; Samaria is the capital of Ephraim, and Remaliah's son the head of Samaria.	8 mais Damas sera (est) la tête (capitale) de la Syrie, et Rasin la tête (le chef) de Damas ; et dans soixante-cinq ans Ephraïm cessera d'être un peuple ;
9 But within sixty years and five, Ephraim shall be crushed, no longer a nation. Unless your faith is firm you shall not be firm!	9 et Samarie sera la tête (est la capitale) d'Ephraïm, et le fils de Romélie la tête (le chef) de Samarie. Si vous ne croyez pas, vous ne subsisterez (persévérerez) pas.
10 Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz:	10 Le Seigneur continua de parler à Achaz et lui dit :
11 Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God; let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky!	11 Demande pour toi un signe (miracle) au Seigneur ton Dieu, soit au fond de la terre (enfer), soit au plus haut du ciel.
12 But Ahaz answered, "I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!"	12 Et Achaz répondit : Je ne demanderai rien, et je ne tenterai pas le Seigneur.
13 Then he said: Listen, O house of David! Is it not enough for you to weary men, must you also weary my God?	13 Et Isaïe (le prophète) dit : Ecoutez donc, maison de David. Ne vous suffit-il pas de lasser la patience des hommes, que vous lassiez encore celle de mon Dieu ?
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.	14 C'est pourquoi le Seigneur lui-même vous donnera un signe : Une vierge concevra, et elle enfantera un fils, auquel on donnera le nom d'Emmanuel.
15 He shall be living on curds and honey by the time he learns to reject the bad and choose the good.	15 Il mangera du beurre et du miel, en sorte qu'il sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien.
16 For before the child learns to reject the bad and choose the good, the land of those two kings whom you dread shall be deserted.	16 Car avant que l'enfant sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien, le pays que tu détestes à cause de leurs deux rois sera abandonné (de ses deux rois).
17 The LORD shall bring upon you and your people and your father's house days worse than any since Ephraim seceded from Judah. (This means the king of Assyria.)	17 Le Seigneur fera venir sur toi, sur ton peuple et sur la maison de ton père, par le roi des Assyriens, des jours tels qu'il n'y en a pas eu depuis le temps où Ephraïm s'est séparé de Juda.
18 On that day The LORD shall whistle for the fly that is in the farthest streams of Egypt, and for the bee in the land of Assyria.	18 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur appellera d'un coup de sifflet la mouche qui est à l'extrémité des fleuves de l'Egypte, et l'abeille qui est au pays d'Assur ;
19 All of them shall come and settle in the steep ravines and in the rocky clefts, on all thornbushes and in all pastures.	19 et elles viendront, et elles se (re)poseront dans les torrents des vallées, et dans les creux des rochers, sur tous les arbrisseaux, et dans tous les trous.
20 On that day the LORD shall shave with the razor hired from across the River (with the king of Assyria) the head, and the hair between the legs. It shall also shave off the beard.	20 En ce jour-là le Seigneur rasera, avec un rasoir pris à louage, avec ceux qui sont au-delà du fleuve, avec le roi des Assyriens, la tête, le poil des pieds, et toute la barbe.
21 On that day a man shall keep a heifer or a couple of sheep,	21 En ce jour-là, chacun nourrira une vache et deux brebis,
22 and from their abundant yield of milk he shall live on curds; curds and honey shall be the food of all who remain in the land.	22 et le lait sera si abondant qu'on mangera du beurre ; car quiconque sera demeuré dans le pays se nourrira de beurre et de miel.
23 On that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand pieces of silver, shall be turned to briers and thorns.	23 En ce jour-là, tout lieu où il y avait eu mille pieds de vigne, valant mille pièces d'argent, sera livré aux (ces pieds de vigne seront changés en) ronces et aux (en) épines.
24 Men shall go there with bow and arrows; for all the country shall be briers and thorns.	24 On y entrera avec les flèches et l'arc, car les ronces et les épines couvriront tout le pays.
25 For fear of briers and thorns you shall not go upon any mountainside which used to be hoed with the mattock; they shall be grazing land for cattle and shall be trampled upon by sheep.	25 Et toutes les montagnes qui étaient (seront bien) sarclées et cultivées n'inspireront plus de crainte par leurs ronces et leurs épines (ne les atteindra pas), mais elles serviront de pâturages aux bœufs, et les troupeaux (le menu bétail) les fouleront.
