1 Woe to the rebellious children, says the LORD, Who carry out plans that are not mine, who weave webs that are not inspired by me, adding sin upon sin.	1 Ai de vós, filhos rebeldes, diz o Senhor, que formais projetos sem contar comigo, que estabeleceis alianças sem o meu espírito, acumulando assim pecados sobre pecados;
2 They go down to Egypt, but my counsel they do not seek. They find their strength in Pharaoh's protection and take refuge in Egypt's shadow;	2 que estais postos a caminho para descer ao Egito, e não consultastes a minha vontade, esperando encontrar refúgio na proteção de Faraó, abrigo na sombra (ou proteção) do Egito!
3 Pharaoh's protection shall be your shame, and refuge in Egypt's shadow your disgrace.	3 Porém a proteção de Faraó será a vossa vergonha, e o refúgio na sombra do Egito a vossa ignomínia.
4 When their princes are at Zoan and their messengers reach Hanes,	4 Os teus príncipes foram até Tanis, e os teus embaixadores chegaram até Hanes.
5 All shall be ashamed of a people that gain them nothing, Neither help nor benefit, but only shame and reproach.	5 Todos ficaram confundidos à vista dum povo, que lhes não pode ser útil para nada, e que, longe de os socorrer e de lhes prestar qualquer serviço, apenas serve para sua vergonha e opróbrio.

Por uma terra de tribulação e angústia, donde saem o leão e a leoa, a víbora e o dragão voador, levam sobre o dorso dos jumentos as suas riquezas, sobre o dorso dos camelos os seus tesouros, a um povo que lhes não pode prestar para coisa alguma.

8 Now come, write it on a tablet they can keep, inscribe it in a record; That it may be in future days an eternal witness:	8 Agora, pois, vai gravar isto (esta profecia) sobre uma tàbuazinha, em sua presença, regista-o com cuidado num livro para que seja no futuro um testemunho eterno.
9 This is a rebellious people, deceitful children, Children who refuse to obey the law of the LORD.	9 Porque este povo é rebelde: são filhos mentirosos, filhos que não querem ouvir a lei de Deus.
10 They say to the seers, "Have no visions"; to the prophets, "Do not descry for us what is right; speak flatteries to us, conjure up illusions.	10 Dizem aos videntes: Não vejais; e aos profetas: Não nos anuncieis a verdade, falai-nos de coisas agradáveis, profetizai ilusões.
11 Out of the way! Out of our path! Let us hear no more of the Holy One of Israel."	11 Afastai-vos do caminho (da lei); afastai-vos de tal vereda; tirai de diante da nossa face o Santo de Israel.
12 Therefore, thus says the Holy One of Israel: Because you reject this word, And put your trust in what is crooked and devious, and depend on it,	12 Por este motivo diz o Santo de Israel: Visto que vós rejeitais esta palavra, e pondes a vossa confiança na calúnia e na perversidade, e nestas coisas vos apoiais,
13 This guilt of yours shall be like a descending rift Bulging out in a high wall whose crash comes suddenly, in an instant.	13 por isso esta iniquidade será para vós como uma fenda ameaçadora de ruína, que produz uma gibosidade sobre uma elevada muralha, que subitamente se desmorona, quando menos se espera.
14 It crashes like a potter's jar smashed beyond rescue, And among its fragments cannot be found a sherd to scoop fire from the hearth or dip water from the cistern.	14 Faz-se em pedaços, como se quebra com uma fortíssima pancada uma vasilha de barro, sem se achar entre os seus fragmentos um caco, em que se leve uma brasa da lareira, ou se tire um pouco de água da cisterna.
15 For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel: By waiting and by calm you shall be saved, in quiet and in trust your strength lies. But this you did not wish.	15 Porque o Senhor Deus, o Santo de Israel, diz assim: Se vos converterdes e vos deixardes estar em calma, sereis salvos; a vossa fortaleza estará no repouso e na confiança. Mas vós não quisestes,
16 "No," you said, "Upon horses we will flee." --Very well, flee! "Upon swift steeds we will ride." --Not so swift as your pursuers.	16 antes dissestes : De nenhuma sorte, mas fugiremos sobre cavalos! Pois bem, (digo eu) vós fugireis (dos vossos inimigos). - Montaremos em cavalos ligeiros! - Pois bem, (digo eu) serão mais ligeiros aqueles que vos hão-de perseguir.
17 A thousand shall tremble at the threat of one; if five threaten you, you shall flee, Until you are left like a flagstaff on the mountaintop, like a flag on the hill.	17 Mil (dos vossos) homens fugirão da vista do terror de um só; à vista da ameaça de cinco, deitareis a fugir, até que vos reduzais a um destroço, até que fiqueis como um mastro no cume de um monte, como um sinal sobre um outeiro.
18 Yet the LORD is waiting to show you favor, and he rises to pity you; For the LORD is a God of justice: blessed are all who wait for him!	18 Por isso o Senhor espera o momento em que vos fará mercê, por isso se levantará, para usar de misericórdia convosco, por que o Senhor é um Deus justo. Ditosos todos os que esperam nele.
19 O people of Zion, who dwell in Jerusalem, no more will you weep; He will be gracious to you when you cry out, as soon as he hears he will answer you.	19 Ó povo de Sião, que habitas em Jerusalém, tu (ó povo fiel) deixarás de chorar. Ao gritares, suplicante, usará contigo de misericórdia; logo que ouvir a voz do teu clamor, te responderá (benignamente).
20 The Lord will give you the bread you need and the water for which you thirst. No longer will your Teacher hide himself, but with your own eyes you shall see your Teacher,	20 (Antes desse tempo feliz) o Senhor vos dará o pão da angústia e a água da tribulação; porém (depois) não se esconderão mais os teus mestres, e os teus olhos estarão vendo sempre os que te ensinam.
21 While from behind, a voice shall sound in your ears: "This is the way; walk in it," when you would turn to the right or to the left.	21 Os teus ouvidos escutarão ressoar, atrás de ti, esta voz: Eis o caminho, anda por ele! - quando te desviares, quer para a direita, quer para a esquerda.
22 And you shall consider unclean your silver-plated idols and your gold-covered images; You shall throw them away like filthy rags to which you say, "Begone!"	22 Então considerarás impura a prata que cobre os teus ídolos, e o ouro que reveste as tuas estátuas, e arrojá-los-ás para longe de ti como coisa imunda. Fora daqui, lhes dirás tu.
23 He will give rain for the seed that you sow in the ground, And the wheat that the soil produces will be rich and abundant. On that day your cattle will graze in spacious meadows;	23 Então será dada chuva para o grão que semeares na terra, e o pão que a terra produzir será abundantíssimo e excelente; naquele dia será o teu gado apascentado em espaçosas pastagens;
24 The oxen and the asses that till the ground will eat silage tossed to them with shovel and pitchfork.	24 os bois e jumentos, que lavram a terra, comerão uma forragem apetitosa, limpa com a pá e o crivo.
25 Upon every high mountain and lofty hill there will be streams of running water. On the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall,	25 Sobre todo o monte alto, sobre todo o outeiro elevado, haverá arroios, correntes de água, no dia da grande mortandade (dos teus inimigos), quando caírem as torres (que os defendiam).
26 The light of the moon will be like that of the sun and the light of the sun will be seven times greater (like the light of seven days). On the day the LORD binds up the wounds of his people, he will heal the bruises left by his blows.	26 A luz da lua será como a luz do Sol, e a luz do Sol será sete vezes maior, como a luz de sete dias, no dia em que o Senhor ligar a ferida do seu povo, curar as chagas dos golpes recebidos.
27 See the name of the LORD coming from afar in burning wrath, with lowering clouds! His lips are filled with fury, his tongue is like a consuming fire;	27 Eis que o nome do Senhor vem de longe, o seu furor é ardente e difícil de suportar; os seus lábios respiram indignação, e a sua língua é como um fogo devorador.
28 His breath, like a flood in a ravine that reaches suddenly to the neck, Will winnow the nations with a destructive winnowing, and with repeated winnowings will he battle against them (and a bridle on the jaws of the peoples to send them astray).	28 O seu sopro é como uma torrente trasbordante, que chega até ao pescoço, para crivar as nações com o crivo da destruição, e pôr um freio de descaminho nas mandíbulas dos povos.
29 You will sing as on a night when a feast is observed, And be merry of heart, as one marching along with a flute Toward the mountain of the LORD, toward the Rock of Israel, accompanied by the timbrels and lyres.	29 Vós (porém) entoareis um cântico, como na noite em que se celebra a festa, e a alegria do vosso coração será como a do que vai caminhando ao som da flauta, para ir ao monte do Senhor, à rocha de Israel.
30 The LORD will make his glorious voice heard, and let it be seen how his arm descends In raging fury and flame of consuming fire, in driving storm and hail.	30 O Senhor fará ouvir a sua voz majestosa, mostrará o terror do seu braço nas ameaças da sua cólera, nas chamas de um fogo devorador, na tempestade, no aguaceiro e nas pedras de saraiva.
31 When the LORD speaks, Assyria will be shattered, as he strikes with the rod;	31 A voz do Senhor tremerá Assur, ferido com a sua vara.
32 While at every sweep of the rod which the LORD will bring down on him in punishment,	32 A cada polpe desta vara justiceira, que o Senhor descarregará sobre ele, tocarão tambores e cítaras. Num assinalado combate o atacará.
33 For the pyre has long been ready, prepared for the king; Broad and deep it is piled with dry grass and wood in abundance, And the breath of the LORD, like a stream of sulphur, will set it afire.	33 Há muito tempo está preparado o lugar de Tofet; está pronto também para o rei; (o Senhor) fê-lo profundo e espaçoso. Há palha e muita lenha para a fogueira, que o sopro do Senhor, como uma torrente de enxofre, vai acender.
