Sirach 11

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	BIBLIA
1 The poor man's wisdom lifts his head high and sets him among princes.	1 La sabiduría del humilde le hace erguir la cabeza, y le da asiento entre los grandes.
2 Praise not a man for his looks; despise not a man for his appearance.	2 No alabes nunca a un hombre por su buen parecer, ni abomines de nadie por su aspecto.
3 Least is the bee among winged things, but she reaps the choicest of all harvests.	3 Pequeña entre los que vuelan es la abeja, mas lo que ella elabora es lo más dulce.
4 Mock not the worn cloak and jibe at no man's bitter day: For strange are the works of the LORD, hidden from men his deeds.	4 No te gloríes del manto que te envuelve, el día de la gloria no te engrías; pues admirables son las obras del Señor, pero están ocultas a los hombres.
5 The oppressed often rise to a throne, and some that none would consider wear a crown.	5 Muchos tiranos se sentaron en el suelo, y un desconocido se puso la diadema.
6 The exalted often fall into utter disgrace; the honored are given into enemy hands.	6 Muchos poderosos fueron muy deshonrados, y hombres ilustres entregados a otras manos.
7 Before investigating, find no fault; examine first, then criticize.	7 Sin haberte informado no reprendas, reflexiona primero y haz luego tu reproche.
8 Before hearing, answer not, and interrupt no one in the middle of his speech.	8 Sin haber escuchado no respondas ni interrumpas en medio del discuro.
9 Dispute not about what is not your concern; in the strife of the arrogant take no part.	9 Por lo que no te incumbe no discutas, y en las contiendas de los pecadores no te mezcles.
10 My son, why increase your cares, since he who is avid for wealth will not be blameless? Even if you run after it, you will never overtake it; however you seek it, you will not find it.	10 Hijo, no te metas en múltiples asuntos, si los multiplicas no saldrás bien parado; aunque los persigas no los alcanzarás ni podrás escapar aunque quieras huir.
11 One may toil and struggle and drive, and fall short all the more.	11 Hay quien se agota, se fatiga y se apresura, y cuanto más, más tarde llega.
12 Another goes his way a weakling and a failure, with little strength and great misery-- Yet the eyes of the LORD look favorably upon him; he raises him free of the vile dust,	12 Hay quien es débil, necesitado de apoyo, falto de bienes y sobrado de pobreza, mas los ojos del Señor le miran para bien, él le recobra de su humillación.
13 Lifts up his head and exalts him to the amazement of the many.	13 Levanta su cabeza, y por él se admiran muchos.
14 Good and evil, life and death, poverty and riches, are from the LORD.	14 Bienes y males, vida y muerte, pobreza y riqueza vienen del Señor.
15 Wisdom and understanding and knowledge of affairs, love and virtuous paths are from the LORD.
16 Error and darkness were formed with sinners from their birth, and evil grows old with evildoers.
17 The LORD'S gift remains with the just; his favor brings continued success.	17 El don del Señor con los piadosos permanece, y su complacencia les lleva por buen camino para siempre.
18 A man may become rich through a miser's life, and this is his allotted reward:	18 Hay quien se hace rico a fuerza de engaño y avaricia, y esta es la parte de su recompensa:
19 When he says: "I have found rest, now I will feast on my possessions," He does not know how long it will be till he dies and leaves them to others.	19 cuando dice: «Ya he logrado reposo, ahora voy a comer de mis bienes», no sabe qué tiempo va a venir, morirá y se lo dejará a otros.
20 My son, hold fast to your duty, busy yourself with it, grow old while doing your task.	20 Manténte en tu quehacer y conságrate a él, en tu tarea envejece.
21 Admire not how sinners live, but trust in the LORD and wait for his light; For it is easy with the LORD suddenly, in an instant, to make a poor man rich.	21 No te admires de las obras del pecador, confía en el Señor y en tu esfuerzo persevera. Que es cosa fácil a los ojos del Señor enriquecer de golpe al indigente.
22 God's blessing is the lot of the just man, and in due time his hopes bear fruit.	22 La bendición del Señor es la recompensa del piadoso, y en un instante hace florecer su bendición.
23 Say not: "What do I need? What further pleasure can be mine?"	23 No digas: «¿De qué he menester? o ¿qué bienes me vendrán todavía?»
24 Say not: "I am independent. What harm can come to me now?"	24 No digas: «Tengo bastante con ellos, ¿qué mal puede alcanzarme ahora?»
25 The day of prosperity makes one forget adversity; the day of adversity makes one forget prosperity.	25 Día de bienes, olvido de males, día de males, olvido de bienes.
26 For it is easy with the LORD on the day of death to repay man according to his deeds.	26 Que es fácil al Señor, el día de la muerte, pagar a cada uno según su proceder.
27 A moment's affliction brings forgetfulness of past delights; when a man dies, his life is revealed.	27 El mal de una hora el placer hace olvidar, al final del hombre se descubren sus obras.
28 Call no man happy before his death, for by how he ends, a man is known.	28 Antes del fin no llames feliz a nadie, que sólo a su término es conocido el hombre.
29 Bring not every man into your house, for many are the snares of the crafty one;	29 No metas a cualquiera en tu casa, que son muchos los lazos del taimado.
30 Though he seem like a bird confined in a cage, yet like a spy he will pick out the weak spots.	30 Perdiz cautiva en su jaula, tal es el corazón del orgulloso, como el espía acecha tu caída.
31 The talebearer turns good into evil; with a spark he sets many coals afire.	31 Cambiando el bien por el mal, está al acecho, y a las cosas más limpias pone mancha.
32 The evil man lies in wait for blood, and plots against your choicest possessions.	32 Con una chispa se enciende un brasero, así el pecador tiende lazos en busca de sangre.
33 Avoid a wicked man, for he breeds only evil, lest you incur a lasting stain.	33 Guárdate del malvado, porque maquina el mal, no sea que te manche para siempre.
34 Lodge a stranger with you, and he will subvert your course, and make a stranger of you to your own household.	34 Mete en casa al extraño, y te traerá el desorden, te hará extraño a tu propia familia.
