1 Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.	1 De David. Attaque, Seigneur, ceux qui m’attaquent, fais la guerre à ceux qui me la font.
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.	2 Prends un bouclier d’attaque, et un de défense, puis lève-toi et viens me protéger.
3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.	3 Fais face à mes persécuteurs, avec la lance, avec la hache, et dis à mon âme: “Je suis ton salut.”
4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.	4 Couvre de honte ceux qui en veulent à ma vie, qu’ils reculent et soient humiliés: un échec total.
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.	5 Qu’ils soient comme la paille au vent, que l’ange du Seigneur les emporte!
6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.	6 Mets-les sur une voie ténébreuse et glissante et que l’ange du Seigneur soit dans leur dos.
7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.	7 Sais-tu que les méchants m’ont tendu un filet? Sans raison ils ont creusé le sol sous mes pieds.
8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.	8 Le mal leur reviendra d’où ils ne savent, ils se prendront au filet qu’ils ont tendu, ce sont eux qui tomberont dans la fosse.
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.	9 Et moi j’en serai tout joyeux devant Dieu, mon âme se réjouira de ses interventions.
10 All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?	10 Alors tout en moi te célébrera: “Seigneur, qui est comme toi?” Tu protèges le désemparé de ceux qui sont plus forts, et le pauvre, le faible, de celui qui les dépouille.
11 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.	11 Des témoins à charge se lèvent, on m’interroge pour des choses que j’ignore,
12 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.	12 ils me rendent le mal pour le bien et me regardent me débattre.
13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.	13 Mais moi, s’ils étaient malades je prenais le sac, je jeûnais et faisais pénitence, je ne cessais de redire ma prière.
14 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother.	14 J’allais comme perdu, comme pour mon frère, comme pour un ami j’allais tout courbé, comme on pleure sa mère.
15 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not:	15 Mais à peine je tombe, ils s’en amusent, les voilà rassemblés tous ensemble contre moi, comme des étrangers, des inconnus.
16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.	16 Ils ne cessent de me déchirer, de vrais hypocrites qui ne cessent de se moquer et de grincer des dents contre moi.
17 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.	17 Seigneur, vas-tu rester à regarder? Arrache-moi à ces lions rugissants: je n’ai qu’une vie!
18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people.	18 Je dirai tes louanges à la grande assemblée, je te célébrerai quand tout le peuple est là.
19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.	19 Ne permets pas qu’ils se rient de moi, et qu’ils se fassent des clins d’œil à mon sujet, ces ennemis, ces menteurs qui n’ont pas d’excuses.
20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land.	20 Car ce n’est pas la paix qu’ils préparent pour les gens paisibles du pays. Ils ont mis au point des discours mensongers
21 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.	21 et ils parlent ouvertement contre moi. Ils disent: “Oui, nous l’avons vu.”
22 This thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me.	22 Mais toi, Seigneur, tu as vu, ne te tais pas, ne t’éloigne pas de moi, Seigneur.
23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, my God and my Lord.	23 Éveille-toi et lève-toi, rends ton jugement. Seigneur, mon Dieu, parle à mon procès.
24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.	24 Prononce ma sentence, toi qui es juste, Seigneur qu’ils ne puissent pas rire de moi,
25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.	25 ni penser, ni dire: “Enfin, nous l’avons eu!”
26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.	26 Que soient confondus, humiliés tous ensemble ceux qui rient de mes malheurs, qu’ils aillent couverts de honte et de mépris, ceux qui me regardent de haut.
27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.	27 Encourage ceux qui défendent mon innocence, qu’ils puissent dire: “Le Seigneur est grand, lui qui réhabilite son serviteur.”
28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.	28 Alors je pourrai dire et redire ta justice, tout le jour je te célébrerai.
